Reds Decline Mutual Option On Mike Minor

Per a tweet from the team on Tuesday, the Cincinnati Reds "have declined the 2023 mutual option on LHP Mike Minor, making him a free agent." Minor pitched to a 6.06 ERA and a 5.21 FIP in 98 innings over the course of 19 starts in his first season with the National League Central franchise. He turned in 76 strikeouts and 40 walks in those 98 innings and logged four pitcher wins in the process. Cincinnati's current rotation options include Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo, Graham Ashcraft, Justin Dunn, and Luis Cessa.

Mike Minor Lands On Injured List

The Cincinnati Reds placed left-hander Mike Minor (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with left shoulder soreness and reinstated right-hander Connor Overton (back) from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. The team also sent catcher Aramis Ramirez (finger) on a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville and moved outfielder Nick Senzel (toe) to the 60-day IL. Minor was originally scheduled to start on Friday against the Brewers, but instead he'll likely miss the rest of the season. The 34-year-old had a rough season in his first year in Cincy, going 4-12 with a bloated 6.06 ERA (6.18 FIP), a 1.63 WHIP and a 76:40 K:BB in 98 innings over his 19 starts.

Mike Minor Reinstated And Starting Friday

The Cincinnati Reds reinstated left-hander Mike Minor (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned outfielder TJ Friedl to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Minor will make his season debut on Friday against the Washington Nationals. The 34-year-old southpaw injured his shoulder in spring training and had a setback on his rehab assignment in April, so he has yet to pitch in the big leagues in 2022. In his five rehab starts in the minors, Minor had an ugly 6.11 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 17 2/3 innings pitched. The good news for fantasy managers in deeper leagues that are considering picking Minor up is that he shouldn't face any innings restrictions in his first start of the year for the Reds.

Mike Minor To Return To Rotation On Friday

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Mike Minor (shoulder) will return to the team's starting rotation and will make his season debut on Friday against the Washington Nationals. Minor has been on the injured list all season so far after he dealt with a shoulder injury in spring training and suffered a setback when he started a minor league rehab assignment in April. The 34-year-old left-hander had a 6.11 ERA and 1.24 WHIP while walking two and striking out 21 in 17 2/3 innings over five starts with Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville on his rehab assignment. Minor shouldn't have any restrictions placed on him in his first start, but he'll merely be a back-end rotation option in deeper leagues on a bad Reds team.

Mike Minor To Make Another Rehab Start

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Mike Minor (shoulder) will make another minor league rehab start, likely on Thursday for Triple-A Louisville. Minor has been out all year with a left shoulder injury, but he's inching closer to making his 2022 debut for Cincy. The 34-year-old left-hander has already made four rehab starts with Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga, going 0-3 with an 8.49 ERA and 1.63 WHIP while walking two and striking out 12 in 11 2/3 innings pitched. Minor has allowed 17 total hits (four home runs), so the Reds probably want to see some better results before they feel comfortable adding the veteran hurler to their starting rotation. In 28 starts (158 2/3 frames) for the Kansas City Royals last year, Minor went 8-12 with a 5.05 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 41 walks and 149 K's.

Mike Minor Strikes Out Four At Triple-A Sunday

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Mike Minor (shoulder) made his second rehab start at Triple-A Louisville on Sunday. He pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed three hits, one walk and two runs (one earned) while striking out four. He threw 60 pitches in the game with 41 of them winding up as strikes. Minor pitched three perfect innings in his first rehab outing, striking out four along the way. He now has a 1.69 ERA over 5 1/3 innings during his rehab stint. It's likely that he will receive one or two more rehab outings before making his 2022 debut for the Reds as he still needs to extend his pitch count.

Mike Minor Expected To Make Rehab Start Tuesday

Cincinnati Reds left-hander Mike Minor (shoulder) is expected to make a minor league rehab start next Tuesday, according to manager David Bell. Minor started a rehab assignment in mid-April, but he suffered a setback with renewed left shoulder soreness during a rehab outing with Double-Chattanooga. The 34-year-old threw a simulated game at High-A Dayton earlier this week and is now ready to restart his rehab assignment. The veteran southpaw is likely to need multiple rehab starts before joining the Reds, but barring any more setbacks, he could make his season debut later this month. Minor posted a 5.05 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, a 22.3% strikeout rate and a 6.1% walk rate in 28 starts over 158 2/3 innings for the Kansas City Royals last year.

Mike Minor Suffers Setback In Rehab Start

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mike Minor (shoulder) reported shoulder soreness after his rehab outing with Double-A Chattanooga on Wednesday. He will be re-evaluated, delaying his return from the 10-day injured list. The southpaw owned a 5.05 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 149 strikeouts over 158 2/3 innings for the Royals in 2021. It's unclear when Minor will return to action and remains day-to-day. Reds' top prospect Nick Lodolo will stay in the rotation while Minor is sidelined.

Mike Minor To Begin Rehab Assignment On Wednesday

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Mike Minor (shoulder) is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment in Double-A on Wednesday. The 34-year-old lefty began the season on the injured list due to a shoulder issue. He was acquired by Cincinnati from Kansas City in March. The former All-Star has struggled in each of the last two seasons. However, he looks to rebuild his value with the Reds. Fantasy managers should expect Minor to return in late-April.

Luis Castillo To Return In Late-April, Mike Minor Set For Sim Game

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Luis Castillo (shoulder) will return closer to the end of April, while left-hander Mike Minor (shoulder) is set to come back during the "middle of the month." On Thursday, Castillo was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a sore shoulder. The 29-year-old will play catch on Friday and throw a bullpen session over the weekend. According to Reds manager Dave Bell, Castillo is scheduled to return to the rotation at the end of April. Minor will throw a simulated game on Friday and, barring any setbacks, will return in mid-April. The southpaw was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to shoulder soreness. Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo will remain in the rotation while both Minor and Castillo are sidelined.
