Mitch Moreland Collects Two Hits In Loss To Mariners
Oakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Mariners on Tuesday. Moreland drove in Starling Marte in the first inning, but that was it for the Oakland offense versus Mariners starter Chris Flexen. Moreland has been a disappointment in his first year with Oakland after being a fantasy asset in 2020 with the Red Sox and Padres. He's batting .230 on the season with an anemic .286 on-base percentage and only 10 homers across 79 games. Moreland has primarily been a DH for the A's, but hasn't been getting enough at-bats to be a fantasy asset in standard-size fantasy leagues. He can be left on waivers in all but the deepest formats.
Mitch Moreland Cranks Two Dingers Thursday At Cleveland
Oakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland went 3-for-5 with two homers to lead a 17-run outburst Thursday at the Indians. Both of Moreland's homers were solo shots as he's now batting .230 on the season with nine homers and 29 RBI across 71 games. It was a big afternoon for the veteran slugger, but his playing time has gone down since the trade deadline as this was just his second start since July 31. Moreland can be left on waivers in fantasy.
Oakland Athletics designated hitter Mitch Moreland isn't in the team's lineup on Sunday as they take on the Mariners and left-handed starter Marco Gonzales. Moreland is batting .235 with a .296 on-base percentage and seven home runs in 199 plate appearances this season. He generally doesn't start much against left-handed pitchers, so it's Jed Lowrie who gets the start at designated hitter on Sunday. Lowrie is hitting fifth and could be worth a look as a streaming option for managers in deeper leagues. In 364 plate appearances this season, Lowrie is hitting .261 with a .330 on-base percentage and 11 home runs.
The Oakland Athletics activated first baseman Mitch Moreland (undisclosed from the injured list on Friday and designated infielder/designated hitter Frank Schwindel for assignment in a corresponding move. Moreland went on the injured list on July 4 for undisclosed reasons. The 35-year-old veteran slugger will mostly be a DH option against right-handed pitchers for the A's moving forward. Moreland will return to a slash line of .238/.286/.388 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 160 at-bats for Oakland this season. Against left-handers this year, Moreland is 6-for-35 (.171) with two of his six home runs and only seven RBI. He should remain on the waiver wire in the majority of mixed leagues.
Oakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland left Saturday's game without making a plate appearance due to a non-baseball issue, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Manager Bob Melvin said he would not expand further on what that means, other than to say that Moreland will not be available to play on Sunday. Moreland should be considered day-to-day for now, although he wasn't providing much fantasy value to begin with as he was slashing .238/.286/.388 over 56 games this season.
Mitch Moreland Collects Hit, Run Scored Versus Royals
Oakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland went 1-for-4 with a hit, a run scored, and two strikeouts in a win over the Royals on Friday. Moreland has struggled in his first year in Oakland as he's slashing just .238/.295/.397 and hasn't been playing every day as the A's have cycled through other players in the DH spot and Moreland will not get too many reps at first base with Matt Olson in town. He put up big power numbers with the Padres and Red Sox in the last two years, but Moreland is not a fantasy asset aside from hunting the cheap homer in DFS when he does crack the starting nine.
Mitch Moreland Launches Fifth Homer Of Season Wednesday
Oakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland went 1-for-4 with his fifth homer of the season Wednesday in Seattle. Moreland launched a two-run shot off of Chris Flexen that Statcast measured at 444 feet. The veteran Moreland slugged over .500 each of the last two seasons, but is slugging just .406 so far this season. He's been playing less often as Oakland has rotated other players into the DH spot while Matt Olson has the first base job on lockdown. Moreland doesn't have much fantasy value aside from a cheap source of power in DFS when he is in the lineup facing a righty.
Oakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland (rib) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Thursday. He is back on the active roster ahead of Thursday's matchup against the Los Angeles Angels. Luis Barrera has been optioned to the minors in a corresponding move. Moreland is batting .237/.305/.409 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 31 games this season. He'll probably be a deep league option, but won't offer much upside outside of that format.
Oakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland (rib) is not expected to come off the injured list when first eligible. He has resumed baseball activities and is doing well, but isn't quite ready yet. The veteran left-handed bat is working his way back from an inflamed costochondral junction of his left rib. He was not exactly hitting well before landing on the injured list. He'll likely be a low-end deep league option once he's cleared to return to the field.
Oakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland (side) remains out of the lineup Sunday. Manager Bob Melvin said that Moreland is doing "a little better" Sunday, though the team will have a better idea of his future availability during their off day Monday. Jed Lowrie will serve as the designated hitter Sunday and bat sixth.
