The Seattle Mariners have called up relief pitchers Nick Rumbelow and Rob Whalen from Triple-A Tacoma to add some depth to the bullpen. In a corresponding move, the Mariners optioned first baseman Daniel Vogelbach to Triple-A Tacoma and relief pitcher Mike Morin was designated for assignment. Rumbelow and Whalen should not be owned in any fantasy formats even after being called up.
Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Nick Rumbelow is dealing with a neck injury as well as right shoulder discomfort, according to Greg Johns of MLB.com. Rumbelow has not been able to pitch in a Cactus League game since Feb. 24, when he also suffered a cut on his thumb in that appearance. This has not been the most fortunate spring training for the 26-year-old right-hander as he competes for a spot in the Mariners bullpen.

The 26-year-old had a stellar 2017 season between Double-A and Triple-A for the Yanks, posting a 1.12 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 40 1/3 innings of work. The Mariners have made multiple moves already in hopes of reshaping their major league bullpen, and Rumbelow could have a shot at winning a roster spot in spring. The Mariners now have 36 players on their 40-man roster and the Yankees have 37.
