Rafael Dolis Designated For Assignment

The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Wednesday that relief pitcher Rafael Dolis was designated for assignment. The move was one of a handful of transactions made by the club. Toronto also activated reliever Tim Mayza from the injured list, promoted infielder Kevin Smith, and placed Alex Manoah on the bereavement list. Dolis appeared in 39 games for Toronto this season, pitching to a 5.63 ERA and a 4.36 FIP in 32 innings. He also struck out 39 batters while walking 27 and converted three saves. For fantasy managers in search of saves from the Toronto bullpen, Jordan Romano looks like the team's closer at the moment.

Rafael Dolis, Ryan Borucki Progressing

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Rafael Dolis (finger) will join Triple-A Buffalo for a rehab assignment on Friday, according to manager Charlie Montoyo. Reliever Ryan Borucki (elbow) will throw live batting practice early next week before moving to a rehab assignment. Dolis could be back early next week, while Borucki is a little bit further behind. But the Jays should be getting bullpen reinforcements soon. Dolis has three saves this year but also a 5.14 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 21 innings before he suffered a right middle finger sprain on June 17. The left-handed Borucki suffered a flexor strain on May 14 and has a 4.05 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 14 K's in 13 1/3 innings. Neither relief arm is particularly attractive in fantasy, even in saves/holds leagues.

Rafael Dolis Lands On Injured List With Finger Strain

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Rafael Dolis (finger) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a strained right middle finger, according to Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun. Dolis exited Wednesday's game after four pitches with "no sensation in his hand," and it was reported earlier Thursday afternoon that he would be unavailable to pitch in Thursday's game. When healthy, Dolis could have some value in deeper formats that count holds, however, his 5.14 ERA and lack of save opportunities make him a player to ignore in the majority of formats.

Rafael Dolis Not Available On Thursday

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Rafael Dolis (hand) is not available to pitch on Thursday against the Yankees, according to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. Dolis left Wednesday's outing after just four pitches with what was described as, "No sensation in his hand." Dolis is still being evaluated and no decision has been made if he'll require an IL stint. He had been pitching a setup role and has not earned a save since May 2. Dolis is best left on waivers in fantasy with Jordan Romano being the closer to roster in the Toronto bullpen.

Rafael Dolis Blows Save Versus Red Sox

Toronto Blue Jays reliever Rafael Dolis coughed up the team's 7-5 lead in the ninth as the club went on to lose 8-7 to the Red Sox on Thursday. The right-hander surrendered a pair of singles to start the frame before serving up a two-out, two-run homer off the bat of J.D. Martinez for his first blown save of the season. It was a disappointing ending for the Jays after Tyler Chatwood and Jordan Romano both worked perfect innings in the seventh and eighth to protect their two-run lead at the time. There will undoubtedly be better days ahead for Dolis, but it's likely we see both him and Romano receiving the save chances moving forward.

Rafael Dolis, Anthony Castro Set For Bullpen Sessions

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Rafael Dolis (calf) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Friday. Reliever Anthony Castro (forearm) is hoping to throw a bullpen this weekend, but he still has some tightness in his forearm. Dolis landed on the 10-day injured list four days ago with a right calf strain, and there remains no timetable for his return, but it's a good sign that he's throwing a bullpen session already. With Julian Merryweather (oblique) on the 60-day injured list and Castro out with injury as well, Jordan Romano is leading a closer-by-committee approach in the Blue Jays bullpen that also includes Ryan Borucki and Tyler Chatwood. Romano had the most recent save and is the one to own if you're searching for saves in fantasy. Dolis should be back in the committee mix once he's healthy.

Rafael Dolis Placed On Injured List Saturday

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Rafael Dolis (calf) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday, according to Ben Wagner of Sportsnet. Dolis exited Friday's game after experiencing tightness in his right calf, having allowed a hit and a walk before he was seen walking gingerly off the field. It's yet another blow to a Toronto bullpen that has been ravaged by injury this season. With Dolis out, Jordan Romano is now the guy to target as next in line for save opportunities.

Rafael Dolis Exits Friday With Calf Tightness

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Rafael Dolis exited his appearance versus the Astros on Friday early after experiencing tightness in his right calf. He entered the game in the eighth inning and surrendered a hit and a walk before getting removed as he walked gingerly off the field. Dolis will go for an MRI on Saturday so we'll have a better understanding of a possible timeline if he were to miss some action. The Blue Jays bullpen is getting ravaged with injuries, but we can expect Jordan Romano to receive the save chances now that he's back from his IL stint.

Rafael Dolis Locks Down Save For Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays reliever Rafael Dolis closed out the team's 5-3 win over the Rays on Friday night, earning himself his first save of the season. The right-hander pitched a perfect ninth inning while recording a strikeout and a pair of grounders in the nine-pitch frame. With Julian Merryweather and Jordan Romano both on the IL, Dolis is the next man up for the highest-leverage situations in Toronto. Those opportunities may not always come in the ninth inning, but as long as he's in the mix for saves, he's worth a roster spot in deeper formats.

Rafael Dolis Melts Down Versus Yankees

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Rafael Dolis threw just two-thirds of an inning and allowed two runs to the New York Yankees during a 5-3 loss on Saturday. The right-hander didn't allow a hit but he walked three batters and threw just 10 of his 24 pitches for strikes. Dolis had also made an appearance on Thursday when he threw a shutout inning and struck out two batters with a walk. The veteran hurler is expected to hold a key high-leverage role with the Jays in 2021 but if he continues to struggle, the club could turn to another arm such as rookie Julian Merryweather to help out in key innings. The club is currently carrying a 14-man pitching staff.
