Raisel Iglesias Returning to the Braves on One-Year Deal

The Atlanta Braves announced on Wednesday that they re-signed right-handed closer Raisel Iglesias to a one-year, $16 million deal for the 2026 season. The 35-year-old Cuban veteran will return to Atlanta for a fifth season, where he should be firmly locked in as their closer yet again. Iglesias didn't exactly look like himself early on, but it didn't take long for him to right the ship in 2025, and he finished with a 3.21 ERA (3.31 FIP), 0.99 WHIP, 29 saves, 73 strikeouts, and 16 walks in 67 1/3 innings out of the bullpen. He wasn't quite as good as he was in 2024, when he had a career-high-tying 34 saves and a career-best 1.95 ERA, but he did have an ERA of 1.96 with 51 K's and 12 walks after the start of June. Iglesias will be a little more volatile than most closers in 2026 because of his age, but his locked-in role on what should be a strong Braves team will make him a high-end closing target in fantasy.

Dodgers Interested in Signing Raisel Iglesias

The Los Angeles Dodgers are among the teams interested in signing free-agent right-handed reliever Rasiel Iglesias, sources told Francys Romero. The Dodgers poured a lot of resources into lefty closer Tanner Scott for 2025, but it didn't work out. Despite other injuries to key relievers and their bullpen being a weak spot, L.A. won a second straight World Series on the strength of their offense and starting pitching. They'll give it another go to beef up the back end of the bullpen as they seek a three-peat, and it could start with a signing of Iglesias. They've also been connected to right-hander Devin Williams, who had a down year in his first season in the Bronx. Iglesias will turn 36 in January, but the Cuban reliever had 30-plus saves for the Atlanta Braves in two of his three full seasons there. He had a 3.21 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 29 saves, and a 73:16 K:BB in 67 1/3 frames in 2025.

Raisel Iglesias Drawing Interest From Cubs

Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias is among the relievers "under consideration" for the Chicago Cubs as Thursday's trade deadline nears, Patrick Mooney and Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic report. With the Braves out of contention and Iglesias due to become a free agent at the end of the season, he's a logical candidate to go to a contender in the next few days. The 35-year-old has been a shutdown option for a large portion of his career, but he has blown five of 16 save chances this season while managing an unappealing 5.06 ERA over 40 2/3 innings this season. Iglesias still boasts an impressive 46:10 K:BB with a solid 1.23 WHIP, though, and has at least been less shaky in the past month and a half. He'd presumably serve as a setup option in Chicago, which has received great production from closer Daniel Palencia.

Braves Making Marcell Ozuna, Raisel Iglesias Available at Trade Deadline

The Atlanta Braves are making designated hitter Marcell Ozuna, closer Raisel Iglesias and a few others available before the July 31 trade deadline, according to USA TODAY Sports' Bob Nightengale. However, the Braves don't have any intentions of trading any player under a multi-year contract, at least not until the offseason. Ozuna has 10-and-5 rights, which essentially gives him a full no-trade clause and allows him to reject any potential deal. Atlanta has dealt with all kinds of injuries to key players this year and have not been able to recover after a horrendous start in 2025, as they enter the All-Star break this week with a 42-53 record and in fourth place in the National League West (12.5 games out of first place). The 34-year-old Ozuna does have two homers in his last four games, but he also has a .577 OPS since the start of June as his power fades after hitting 79 homer the previous two seasons.

Raisel Iglesias Perfect in Save Opportunity

Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias recorded his second save in as many games in a 7-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. After the Braves called on him for the third straight day, Iglesias retired the Cardinals on 11 pitches (nine strikes) and struck out one in a perfect bottom of the ninth inning. The 35-year-old has now piled up 14 straight scoreless appearances. Thanks to his struggles earlier in the season, Iglesias still has a disappointing 4.42 ERA in 36 2/3 innings. To his credit, though, Iglesias has continued to amass strikeouts (42) while limiting walks (seven).

Raisel Iglesias Reaches Double-Digit Saves

Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias picked up his 10th save of the season on Friday night in his team's 6-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The veteran right-hander worked a perfect ninth inning and recorded a strikeout. It's been an underwhelming season so far for Iglesias, as he's posted a 4.54 ERA, and 1.25 WHIP in 35 2/3 innings. The underlying numbers suggest better luck is on the horizon for him, as he still owns an excellent 22.4% K-BB rate and a 3.84 xERA. Home runs have been the issue for Iglesias, as he's allowed a career-worst 1.82 HR/9. He's a good bet to provide more value for fantasy managers in the second half of the season than he did in the first.

Raisel Iglesias Earns First Save Since May

Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias collected his ninth save of the season on Tuesday, putting out a fire in the ninth inning to secure a 7-4 win. Iglesias was summoned with runners on the corners and one out with a four-run lead, and was able to escape with limited damage after allowing a run-scoring double. The 35-year-old has had a tough go of it this year and was removed from the closer role a few weeks ago, but has steadied the ship since then. Dillon Lee has been rock solid as the Braves' closer, so Iglesias might not get back into his role right away, but if Lee does falter it seems like Iglesias would be the next guy up. He is a decent stash option in leagues where saves are scarce.

Raisel Iglesias Removed From Closer Role

Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias has been reportedly removed from the primary closer role. Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters on Friday that Iglesias won't be the closer going forward. This move isn't shocking considering Iglesias holds a 6.75 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and 25/6 K/BB ratio this season. He's only 8-for-12 in save situations, so the Braves have decided to shake it up. It's unclear who the Braves are going to use in the ninth inning now. Pierce Johnson got the save chance on Saturday, but gave up a walk-off home run to Matt Chapman. It'll probably be a committee, so there isn't a clear pickup for fantasy purposes. Iglesias will certainly lose fantasy value with him being removed from the closer role.

Raisel Iglesias Secures Seventh Save

Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias recorded his seventh save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Nationals on Thursday. He allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning. This broke a streak of three straight appearances where he allowed at least one run. The 35-year-old has an unsightly 5.71 ERA and 1.40 WHIP on the year, which is a far cry from the 1.95 ERA and 0.74 WHIP he posted in 2024. He still has plenty of job security as the Braves closer, but he may not be the elite option anymore that he's shown to be in the past.

Raisel Iglesias Strikes Out Three To Earn Sixth Save

Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias secured the victory in the team's 4-3 win over the Dodgers on Sunday. The first batter reached on an infield single, but Iglesias struck out the next three batters to slam the door and end the threat, logging his sixth save of the season in the process. The righty wasn't as effective as the Braves or fantasy managers had expected earlier this year, but looks to be getting back on track lately, with three straight scoreless appearances in which he's allowed just two hits and no walks while striking out six over three innings pitched. The ERA isn't pretty at 4.85, but the 35-year-old owns a 1.00 WHIP and a strong 25.5 percent K-BB% now, and with the Braves righting the ship after an 0-7 start to the season, there should be plenty more save chances in the future for the 6-foot-2 hurler.
