Raisel Iglesias News
Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias earned his first career postseason save in Monday's National League Division Series Game 2 5-4 win over the Phillies. Iglesias entered the game in the bottom of the ninth up by one with no outs and a runner on first. He got the first out on a flyout and ended the game on a flyout double play thanks to an incredible defensive effort by Michael Harris II. The 33-year-old has now pitched two scoreless innings this postseason but carries a career postseason 7.20 ERA in five innings pitched between 2020, 2022, and 2023.
Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias converted his 32nd save of the season on Thursday, closing out a 5-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Iglesias pitched a perfect inning, striking out one in the process. After a rough patch in early September where he allowed six runs (three earned) in five IP and blew two saves, the fireballer has turned things around with three straight converted saves. The 33-year-old will be in a great situation on this same stacked Braves team next year and should be drafted highly among relievers.
Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias blew his fourth save of the season but picked up his fifth win in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Phillies. Iglesias came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth up by one. He allowed a leadoff home run to Trea Turner to tie the game and allowed back-to-back singles before getting out of the inning with a strikeout and a groundball double play. The Braves would score in the top of the 10th and turned to Brad Hand to close out the game, so Iglesias was the pitcher of record. The 33-year-old has been a reliable fantasy option once again, going 5-4 with 29 saves, a 3.26 ERA, and an 11.05 K/9 rate.

Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias had an overall successful yet unusual fantasy season in 2022. The 32-year-old started the season with the Los Angeles Angels and served as their closer, racking up 16 saves with a 4.04 ERA in 35 2/3 innings pitched. He was then traded to the Atlanta Braves, picking up only one save given Kenley Jansen's role but delivering an improved 0.34 ERA with 15 holds in 26 1/3 IP. Iglesias' fantasy value next season will be determined largely by his role. Jansen is no longer on the team, Iglesias has been a successful closer his entire career, and he signed a four-year, $58 million contract at the beginning of the 2022 season. As such, it seems as though he should have the closer's role for the Braves. Iglesias is currently being drafted at pick 67 overall, making him the ninth relief pitcher off the board. While the decision to draft closers this early is more of a strategic preference, the fact that he is being drafted being so many other RP when he has had such a track record of success and should have a secure role on a competitive team makes him a relative bargain.
