Raisel Iglesias News
Atlanta Braves right-handed pitcher Raisel Iglesias locked down his fourth save of the season on Thursday, helping the Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-5. Iglesias didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one in his inning of work. He has now worked five scoreless outings in a row, allowing just a hit and a walk while striking out six in those appearances. He should get a ton of save opportunities with the Braves and appears to be locked in, giving him a chance to be one of the best closers in fantasy this season.
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias tossed a perfect ninth inning to secure a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Iglesias didn't allow a baserunner and struck out two. He now holds a 5.68 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with eight strikeouts in 6 IP. After a couple of subpar performances earlier in the month, Iglesias hasn't allowed a baserunner in his past three outings. He appears to be rounding into form, which is good news for both fantasy managers and the Braves, who have struggled to get good closing performances this season. Iglesias should see the bulk of the save opportunities in Atlanta.
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias missed the beginning of the season due to injury. He made his season debut last week, so it could take him some time to get back into a groove. On Sunday, Iglesias took his first blown save of the save as he coughed up two runs to the Toronto Blue Jays in the ninth inning. The right-hander saw his velocity dip during this contest, which could be something to monitor. The Braves do have other options in the ninth inning such as A.J. Minter or Nick Anderson. It remains to be seen if the Braves will lean on one of them if Iglesias continues to struggle.

Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias had an overall successful yet unusual fantasy season in 2022. The 32-year-old started the season with the Los Angeles Angels and served as their closer, racking up 16 saves with a 4.04 ERA in 35 2/3 innings pitched. He was then traded to the Atlanta Braves, picking up only one save given Kenley Jansen's role but delivering an improved 0.34 ERA with 15 holds in 26 1/3 IP. Iglesias' fantasy value next season will be determined largely by his role. Jansen is no longer on the team, Iglesias has been a successful closer his entire career, and he signed a four-year, $58 million contract at the beginning of the 2022 season. As such, it seems as though he should have the closer's role for the Braves. Iglesias is currently being drafted at pick 67 overall, making him the ninth relief pitcher off the board. While the decision to draft closers this early is more of a strategic preference, the fact that he is being drafted being so many other RP when he has had such a track record of success and should have a secure role on a competitive team makes him a relative bargain.
