Ronald Bolanos Set For Start On Sunday

Kansas City Royals right-handed pitcher Ronald Bolanos has earned another start in the clubs rotation after impressing manager Mike Matheny in his first time out. Bolanos is set to begin Sundays game against the Chicago White Sox after working two innings of two-run (zero earned) ball against Cleveland last week. Having hit an average of 95.6 MPH on his fastball in his first start, there is optimism swirling around Bolanos, even as he was limited to just 32 pitches. Hell have a tough time combating a White Sox lineup that enters play Friday leading the American League in team slugging percentage (.457); for that reason, owners can stay away from Bolanos in both the DFS and season-long markets.

Ronald Bolanos Could Stick In Royals Rotation

Kansas City Royals pitcher Ronald Bolanos received praise from manager Mike Matheny following his start on Sunday. Matheny said that Bolanos "was throwing with confidence" and that he had "Major League weapons." Bolanos only pitched two innings in the game against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday, allowing three hits, one walk and two unearned runs while striking out just one. Despite the relatively uneventful line, Matheny saw enough from Bolanos to inspire confidence that he'd remain a part of the team's rotation at least for now. Bolanos isn't anyone worth targeting in fantasy leagues at this point.

Franchy Cordero, Ronald Bolanos Traded To Kansas City

The San Diego Padres traded outfielder Franchy Cordero and pitcherRonald Bolanos to the Kansas City Royals on July 16 in exchange for left-handed reliever Tim Hill. Cordero was logjammed in San Diego as he battled outfielders Josh Naylor and Edward Olivares for a platoon role. With Olivares excelling in summer camp and top prospect Taylor Trammell waiting in the wings, Cordero was trending down. The 25-year-old now moves to Kansas City and Fangraphs already pencils him in as starting center fielder. A standout athlete with strong advanced metrics, Corderos playing outlook just got brighter if he can avoid strikeouts and stay healthy. Bolanos, a 23-year-old mid-level prospect, also escapes a crowded situation but will has an uphill climb to crack the Royals 30-man roster.
