Mariners Reportedly Sign Ryan Buchter To Minors Deal
The Seattle Mariners have reportedly signed relief pitcher Ryan Buchter to a minor league deal, according to The Seattle Times' Ryan Divish. Also per Divish, Buchter will get an invite to Major League camp. Buchter has 236.1 innings in the Majors and has appeared in each of the last six seasons. He owns a lifetime 3.16 ERA and a 4.38 FIP. Most recently, the right-hander appeared in 18 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2021, throwing 16.1 innings and pitching to a 6.61 ERA, a 7.95 FIP, 16 strikeouts, and 13 walks. Seattle's bullpen should be a major strength this season and Buchter gives the team even more depth. Paul Sewald, Diego Castillo, Drew Steckenrider, Andres Munoz, and Ken Giles headline the Mariners' current high-leverage options.
Mark Canha Lands On Injured List, Ryan Buchter Recalled
The Oakland Athletics placed first baseman/outfielder Mark Canha (wrist) on the 10-day injured list before Monday's game in Boston due to a sprained right wrist suffered over the weekend. In the corresponding move, the team moved to recall reliever Ryan Buchter from Triple-A Las Vegas. Canha flew to Los Angeles on Monday and he will have an MRI on Tuesday. His loss only matters to those in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues at this point. He pressed pause on the season with a .200 average, two homers and four RBI across 18 games, splitting time between first base, center field and left field.
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Ryan Buchter (shoulder) is expected to rejoin the A's in Detroit this weekend. Buchter has been out since late April due to a left shoulder strain. He's made four scoreless rehab appearances so far this season. Buchter has a 1.69 ERA through his first 10 2/3 innings this season. He could be a guy that gets some save opportunities if the A's trade Blake Treinen.
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Ryan Buchter (shoulder) has reportedly begun throwing from 75 feet. He has been out since late April due to a shoulder strain. Buchter is playing long toss, so that's a good sign towards his recovery. There is a chance that Buchter begins bullpen sessions as early as next week. He does not need to be owned right now, but when healthy he could help out some fantasy teams that need bullpen.
