Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas has been sent down to Triple-A Nashville on Monday. Montas has a 3.75 ERA in 10 starts for the A's this season. Although, Montas has struggled lately, but it would be surprising to see him stay down in Triple A for long. The A's may acquire rotation help which would mean that Montas would likely move to the bullpen or stay in the minors. Montas was worth owning in AL-only and deeper leagues, but it's unclear what the A's plan to do with him. Ryan Dull owns a 6.00 ERA over 20 appearances this season. This is likely just a short-term move to get a fresh arm in the bullpen.
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Ryan Dull had X-rays on his hand that came back negative, according to Jane Lee of MLB.com. Dull was hit by a line drive in the eighth inning against the Mariners on Wednesday. He stayed in the game but was visibly in pain afterwards. He pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and striking out a batter. Dull is not having a very good season with a 5.91 ERA in 10 innings and should not be owned.
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Ryan Dull (shoulder) was activated off the DL Saturday, according to Jane Lee of MLB.com. Manager Bob Melvin stated he is ready to throw Dull right back into his routinely high-leverage situations. Dull was dominant in 2016 but struggled last year. He missed two months of the 2017 season due to a knee strain and finished with a 5.14 ERA. Dull should only be owned in holds leagues.
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Ryan Dull (shoulder) will resume throwing on Sunday. He will play catch and see how it feels and the A's will proceed from there. Dull had his last throwing session pushed back due to soreness in his shoulder. The A's will take every possible precaution in bringing him along at this stage of the spring.
The Oakland A's have activated relief pitcher Ryan Dull (knee) off the disabled list. To make room on the roster, they designated John Axford for assignment. Axford, 34, has struggled mightily with his command all season, walking 17 batters in 21 innings and pitching to a disastrous 6.43 ERA. He still throws hard and is likely to grab a minor league pact with someone soon, but will not be a part of the A's rebuilding future. Dull, 27, struggled out of the gate this season, pitching to a 6.32 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP with 18 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings before going down with a knee injury. Dull had a strong season last year and is in line to grab a late inning role once he rounds back into form.
Ryan Dull (knee) threw 32 pitches in a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one. A's manager Bob Melvin says that Dull could return to the A's as soon as Thursday. Dull last appeared with the A's on May 19 before going on the DL. He had a very rough start to the season and sits with a 6.32 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP in his 15 2/3 innings. Dull will likely ease his way into a late-inning role with the A's, and could be in line to close should the A's trade current closer Santiago Casilla at the trade deadline. Dull is not worth a roster spot unless he grabs that closing role, however.
