San Francisco Giants 1B Ryder Jones (knee) was able to take batting practice in camp on Friday for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair a dislocated left patella while swinging last September. It's possible he is held out of some Cactus League spring games early on, but all indications are that he should be up to speed by early March which will give him a shot at being ready for Opening Day. At this point he is considered a long shot to break camp with the big club, so avoid him for fantasy purposes until further notice.
San Francisco Giants first baseman Ryder Jones (knee), who will have surgery to fix his patella on Wednesday, will also have a cleanup procedure to fix tendinitis in the same knee. He expects to hit off a tee and take ground balls by Christmas after his knee was bugging him all season. Jones was going to get extended playing time down the stretch to close out the year, so his injury was bad timing. Expect Jones to compete for a roster spot next spring.
San Francisco Giants first baseman Ryder Jones (knee) will have surgery in a couple of days to fix his dislocated left knee. Jones is a promising prospect for the Giants, so it was a shame for him to go down and lose a chance at regular at-bats down the stretch. He had hit two homers in just eight at-bats in the big leagues this year after hitting .274/.328/.417 with 11 homers and 59 RBI in 116 games with Triple-A Sacramento. Jones will compete for a roster spot in spring training next year.
San Francisco Giants infielder Ryder Jones (knee) will miss the rest of the season after dislocating his knee on Sunday. Its a shame. The kids getting a chance to play up here and fix his swing, and that happens," manager Bruce Bochy said. Jones' 2015 season ended prematurely with a dislocated knee as well. Jones had two homers and three RBI in just seven at-bats with the Giants, so it's truly a shame. He hit .274/.328/.417 with 11 long balls, 59 RBI and 57 runs scored in 116 games for Triple-A Sacramento on the farm. He should compete for a bench role with the Giants in spring training next season.
San Francisco Giants infielder/outfielder Ryder Jones (hamstring) will miss a minimum of 10 more days. Jones suffered a hamstring injury early in camp. Jones struggled last year in his first big league action, hitting just .173 in 155 at-bats. With first basemanBrandon Belt healthy and third basemanEvan Longoria in the picture, Jones has been working in the outfield. He will battle for a utility role but doesnt warrant much consideration unless an injury forces him into the lineup.
San Francisco Giants infielder/outfielder Ryder Jones(hamstring) will undergo an MRI on his right hamstring. Jones tweaked his hamstring on Thursday. Jones got some run last year before landing on the disabled list with a wrist injury. Jones will play some outfield this spring, as he is blocked at both first base and third base by Brandon Belt and Evan Longoria, respectively. He will look to break camp as a bench player and can be avoided in all leagues for now.
San Francisco Giants infielder Ryder Jones will receive more playing time at third base according to manager Bruce Bochy. Jones had been getting the bulk of playing at first base with Brandon Belt (concussion) sidelined. Third baseman Pablo Sandoval has struggled and the Giants have every reason to see if Jones is ready for the hot corner going into next year. Expect Sandoval and Buster Posey to get starts at first base with Nick Hundley playing catcher. Jones has struggled and can be avoided in all leagues.
San Francisco Giants infielder Ryder Jones will be absent from tonight's starting lineup. Jones has been getting the bulk of playing time at first base with Brandon Belt (concussion) on the disabled list. Buster Posey will shift over to first base tonight and Nick Hundley will start at catcher and bat seventh. Hundley has not been hitting well of late and isn't a good play in daily leagues.
The San Francisco Giants have recalled third baseman Ryder Jones. Jones was with the big league club earlier in July prior to injuring his wrist. In him small sample size with the club he had one hit in 21 at-bats. The youngster should be able to find at-bats for the Giants but does not hold much fantasy value.
San Francisco Giants third baseman Ryder Jones (wrist) was activated and optioned to Triple-A. The move makes sense as there was not an everyday role for Jones at the moment. With the trade deadline approaching and the Giants struggling, one would anticipate that Jones will have an opportunity to prove himself for next years roster at some point.
