Milwaukee Brewers infielder Ryon Healy has opted for free agency after refusing an outright assignment off their 40-man roster to Triple-A San Antonio. The 28-year-old played in only four regular season games for Milwaukee this year and hit .143 with no home runs, runs or RBI. Healy went 0-for-3 in the second game of the wild-card series loss to the Dodgers. He has hit .261 with 69 home runs and 214 RBI in 405 career games and has mainly played first or third base. Healy hit 25 long balls for the A's in 2017 and homered 24 times for the Mariners in 2018.
Ryon Healy, Tyrone Taylor Enter Starting Lineup For Game 2
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman/designated hitterRyon Healy and outfielder Tyrone Taylor are stepping into the starting nine for Game 2 of Thursdays wild-card series versus the Dodgers and left-hander Clayton Kershaw. Healy has not started since Aug. 5, having played in just four games during the regular season while spending most of the year at the clubs alternate site. He takes the place of Daniel Vogelbach, who heads to the bench with a southpaw on the mound. Taylor will man right field and bat seventh after having six of his nine hits during 2020 go for extra-base hits. While Healy will have DFS appeal while batting cleanup, hes also a candidate to be removed late in the game, capping his upside.
The Milwaukee Brewers have recalled corner infielder Ryon Healy from their alternative training site. Healy was signed away from the Seattle Mariners this offseason. Healy has shown pop in his career with 69 career homeruns in 401 games and owns a respectable .261 career batting average. After a rough 2019 campaign, Healy will function has a bench bat for the Brew Crew. Healy will leadoff on Monday versus the White Sox, but doesnt offer value outside of DFS.
The Milwaukee Brewers optioned corner infielder Ryon Healy to Triple-A San Antonio. Healy appears to be the odd man out as a utility infielder at the corner spots to begin the 2020 season. Milwaukee also has Jedd Gyorko, Brock Holt, Justin Smoak and Eric Sogard who are capable of playing the corner spots. Healy, 28, hit just .237/.289/.456 with seven home runs and 26 RBI in 47 games in 2019 with the Mariners due to injury. He had 20-plus homers in each of the previous two seasons, but Healy has a lot of swing and miss in his game and is unlikely to provide a useful batting average. He could become an option in deep mixed and NL-only leagues later in the year, but you can ignore him for now.
Seattle Mariners first baseman/third baseman Ryon Healy (back), who has been on the injured list since May 21, could miss another month after being diagnosed with spinal stenosis. He received an epidural injection on Tuesday. Spinal stenosis is described as a narrowing of the spine. Manager Scott Servais said Healy could miss another three or four weeks, and Healy doesn't want to rush his return. The good news for Healy is that he should see regular playing time when he returns now that both Jay Bruce and Edwin Encarnacion have been traded. The 27-year-old is hitting only .237 on the season but had seven homers, 23 runs and 26 RBI at the time of his injury.
An MRI exam and bone scan on Seattle Mariners third baseman Ryon Healy (back) revealed no structural damage. The team is hoping that he can resume baseball activities in the next week. Healy has been out since May 21 and has been slow to recover from lower back inflammation. He was hitting just .237 before his injury but did have seven home runs and 26 RBI in his 169 at-bats. The 27-year-old won't be a regular in the lineup when he returns to action, but he'll mix and match at third base, first base and designated hitter with Kyle Seager, Daniel Vogelbach and Edwin Encarnacion.
Seattle Mariners third baseman Ryon Healy (back) suffered a setback with his back and has been slowed in his return. Healy has been out since May 20 and might just be more of a bench bat when he returns now that Kyle Seager is starting every day at third base. Healy was hitting a weak .237 before his injury but had helped his fantasy owners with seven home runs, 26 RBI and 24 runs in 187 plate appearances. He's certainly not a must-stash in deep mixed leagues, especially that he's now suffered a setback in his rehab.
Seattle Mariners second baseman Dee Gordon (wrist) and third baseman Ryon Healy (back) are both recovering well and could start short minor league rehab assignments later this week. Gordon should return this role as the starting second baseman, but Healy's playing time will be in question with Kyle Seager at third and either Daniel Vogelbach or Edwin Encarnacion manning first base every day. Gordon was hitting .281 (45-for-160) with three homers, 19 RBI and 12 steals. He should be owned everywhere for his speed. Healy is hitting only .237 but does have seven home runs, 24 runs and 26 RBI on the year.
Seattle Mariners infielders Dee Gordon and Ryon Healy both hit in the batting cage on Sunday as they work their way back from the IL. Gordon has been sidelined with a wrist injury since May 9 while Healy has been out of action since May 21 with a back injury. The team is hoping the two participate in an on-field workout Monday, but no timetable has been given for their return. Shed Long and Dylan Moore will continue to find at-bats in their absence although neither is a reliable option in any league other than AL-only at best. Look for the M's to provide another update on Monday.
Seattle Mariners second baseman Dee Gordon (hand) and third baseman Ryon Healy (hand) are taking ground balls on Thursday. Gordon and Healy are both making progress, but they'll both likely need to go on rehab assignments before returning to the Mariners. Gordon is expected to return before Healy, who could be pushed to a utility role now that Kyle Seager has returned and is playing every day at third base. Gordon should remain owned in all leagues. He was hitting .281/.310/.369 with three homers, 16 runs, 19 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 160 at-bats before getting hit on the wrist by a pitch.
