Stevie Wilkerson Plates Run In First Game Of Season Tuesday
Baltimore Orioles utility man Stevie Wilkerson made a nice first impression in Tuesday's 13-6 loss to the Rays. Wilkerson, who was playing his first game with the O's this season after being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk, went 2-for-4 with a single, a double, an RBI, and a strikeout. Wilkerson was recalled after the team designated Rio Ruiz for assignment, who was playing primarily second base. However, Wilkerson has shown that he can play all over the field, including pitcher. Wilkerson offer little in terms of fantasy value beyond the versatility as he has a career .219/.279/.365 slash line.
D.J. Stewart Placed On Injured List, Steve Wilkerson Back Up
The Baltimore Orioles placed outfielder D.J. Stewart (ankle) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a sprained right ankle and recalled outfielder Steve Wilkerson from the minors in a corresponding move. Wilkerson hit just .235/.283/.412 with five home runs, 14 runs and 13 RBI in 119 at-bats before his demotion and he'll be nothing more than bench depth for those in AL-only leagues. Stewart should be back with Baltimore again this year after what had been a nice start to his minor league season in 2019.
The Baltimore Orioles have sent down infielder Steve Wilkerson and catcher Austin Wynns to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. This would likely allow catcher Chance Sisco and first baseman Chris Davis to rejoin the Orioles. Wilkerson and Wynns should not be owned in any fantasy formats.
Baltimore Orioles second baseman/outfielder Steve Wilkerson provided most of his team's runs with one swing in Tuesday's 11-4 loss to the Yankees, going 1-for-5 with a three-run home run and two strikeouts. Wilkerson lined a fifth-inning Domingo German fastball over the right-field wall for his fifth HR of the season. Wilkerson has been productive at the plate, posting a .264/.289/.494 slash line with 13 RBI in 90 plate appearances. However, his 2.2% walk rate and 31.1% strikeout rate are not a good sign. Fantasy players should wait to see better plate discipline before buying into Wilkerson.
Baltimore Orioles second baseman/outfielder Steve Wilkerson continued to produce in Thursday's 7-14 loss to the Indians, going 2-for-4 with a single, a double, and two RBI. The 27-year-old has been a success since getting called up at the end of April, hitting .279 with three home runs, eight RBI, and a stolen base in 70 plate appearances. His 1.4% walk rate, 31.4% strikeout rate, and .372 BABIP, however, suggest that Wilkerson has a lot to learn about hitting at the big-league level. Fantasy players need to see more from him before thinking of adding him.
Baltimore Orioles infielder Steve Wilkerson (hamstring) is likely to return to action by Tuesday or Wednesday. Wilkerson has only had 17 at-bats at the major league level this year, but the Orioles might as well get him some playing time down the stretch in a lost season. Wilkerson would only be an AL-only option.
Baltimore Orioles infielder Steve Wilkerson (hamstring) is rehabbing from a hamstring injury but hopes to get into a game before the season ends. Wilkerson only has 17 at-bats at the big league level this year but was hitting .263 with four home runs and 15 RBI in three minor league levels for the O's this year. He can be avoided in all fantasy leagues.
