Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Terrance Gore has a good chance of making the clubs wild-card series roster versus Milwaukee, which will officially be released Wednesday, per manager Dave Roberts. Gore appeared in two games for the Dodgers during the regular season, once as a pinch-runner and once as a defensive replacement. He offers little by way of offensive production, but has swiped five bags in nine career playoff appearances.
Kansas City Royals pinch runner Terrance Gore finally got back on the horse by acting as part of a double steal in the eighth inning of Wednesday's ballgame against the White Sox. Gore was the front end of a double steal with fellow lightning-quick teammate Billy Hamilton that allowed the two to then score and tie the game on Nicky Lopez's RBI single. Gore is usually an extraordinary pinch runner, but this season has been a struggle for the man. Coming into the season, Gore had only been caught four times in 31 attempts at swiping a bag, but he's only 6-for-11 on the basepaths so far this year. Since Gore's entire value is wrapped up in his speed, this could spell disaster for his career.
Terrance Gore Finally Has More Plate Appearances Than Steals
Kansas City Royals pinch-runner extraordinaire Terrance Gore got the start on Friday night and tallied four plate appearances. For most players, that's just a typical Friday night. For Gore, it meant that he finally had more career plate appearances than stolen bases. Gore has now gone to the plate 32 times in his career while he remained stuck at 31 stolen bases. Gore has performed well in his limited at-bats so far this season, so he'll likely be able to keep the numbers this way throughout the year, but manager Ned Yost has certainly been known to make curious roster decisions before. He also agreed on Friday to race The Freeze along with teammate Billy Hamilton when the Royals visit Atlanta in July, so that should be fun to watch. It's unlikely The Freeze will give him nearly the head start he gives other unfortunate competitors.
Terrance Gore Draws Another Start, Billy Hamilton Sitting
Kansas City Royals outfielder Terrance Gore is starting in center field and is batting ninth on Thursday against Mariners starting pitcher Mike Leake. Gore also started on Wednesday night and rewarded the team with three hits (two surprisingly for extra bases) and two stolen bases. Gore has world-class speed, but he is a zero with the bat. You can't steal first base, as they say. His lineup placement also gives him a very low daily ceiling on Thursday. Don't expect the offensive outburst he had on Wednesday.
The Chicago Cubs have acquired outfielder Terrance Gore from the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations. Gore, 27, has been in Triple-A all year, but offers elite speed for the Cubs bench. Gore likely wont be up until rosters expand in September and offers the Cubs more value than fantasy owners.
Speedy outfielder Terrance Gore got the call from the Kansas City Royals on Friday. He'll serve as a fourth outfielder for the team, but he'll primarily see time late in games as a pinch runner due to his threat as a base-stealer. Gore has 17 stolen bases across two minor league levels this season, and in just 17 games last year, he stole 11 bases. For owners in deep leagues, he could provide a late-season bump in the stolen base and run categories.
