The Milwaukee Brewers signed left-hander Thomas Pannone to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invite to major-league spring training. Pannone last pitched in Korea and posted a 2.72 ERA in 14 starts for the Kia Tigers in 2022. In two major-league seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2018 and 2019, Pannone had a 5.43 ERA (5.14 FIP), a 1.34 WHIP, 98 strikeouts and 46 walks in 116 innings pitched over 49 appearances (13 starts). He's also had a bloated 5.61 ERA in four years at the Triple-A level, so it's an understatement to say that he has yet to pitch well in the big leagues. The 28-year-old southpaw will serve as pitching depth for the Brew Crew in 2023 and will likely start in the minor leagues.

Two solo shots by the Cleveland Indians did all the damage to the 24-year-old, who picked up his second win of the season. Pannone has been relatively solid in limited appearances this year, aside from a seven-run debacle against the Baltimore Orioles on August 28. Pannone has a 2-1 record with a 4.14 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 15/7 K/BB ratio through three starts and six relief appearances this season. Despite the good performance, Pannone should be avoided in his next start on Sunday against the New York Yankees.

Toronto Blue Jays rookie pitcher Thomas Pannone was fantastic in his first career start on Wednesday afternoon. Pannone carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Trey Mancini singled. Regardless, it would be the only hit that Pannone allowed as he went seven scoreless with three strikeouts and two walks. The Blue Jays offense also came through and allowed him to pick up his first career win. It seems likely that Pannone will earn another start after this gem of a performance, but expectations should be tempered from fantasy managers. The good thing is that his next appearance would come against the same Orioles team he just dominated, so perhaps he could be a serviceable streaming option.
