Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Thomas Pannone (forearm) exited Sunday's spring training contest early with a forearm injury. He is set to undergo further evaluation. Earlier in the offseason, Pannone inked a minor-league deal with Milwaukee in hopes of competing for a job on the 40-man roster. The 30-year-old last appeared in the majors during the 2023 with the Brewers but logged only two 2/3 innings. He spent the first two seasons of his MLB career with the Toronto Blue Jays. He spent the 2024 campaign pitching entirely at Triple-A for the Iowa Cubs and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Across 152 1/3 total frames, the right-hander posted a 3.54 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP. When he is cleared for action, Pannone will compete for a depth role on the pitching staff.
The Milwaukee Brewers signed left-hander Thomas Pannone to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invite to major-league spring training. Pannone last pitched in Korea and posted a 2.72 ERA in 14 starts for the Kia Tigers in 2022. In two major-league seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2018 and 2019, Pannone had a 5.43 ERA (5.14 FIP), a 1.34 WHIP, 98 strikeouts and 46 walks in 116 innings pitched over 49 appearances (13 starts). He's also had a bloated 5.61 ERA in four years at the Triple-A level, so it's an understatement to say that he has yet to pitch well in the big leagues. The 28-year-old southpaw will serve as pitching depth for the Brew Crew in 2023 and will likely start in the minor leagues.
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Thomas Pannone allowed four runs on four hits in 4 1/3 innings of work during an 8-7 loss to the Boston Red Sox. He struck out four in the no-decision while issuing one walk. Derek Law served as the opener for the contest. Pannone has a 6.18 ERA through 39 1/3 innings this season. He has no fantasy value as he is tough to trust against even the worst offenses.
Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Thomas Pannone was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday. The team has yet to announce a corresponding move. In 13 games in 2019, two of them starts, Pannone pitched 20 2/3 innings and went 1-3 with a 7.40 ERA, 23 strikeouts, and a 4.39 FIP. Pannone had little fantasy relevance even in AL-only leagues prior to this move, and is now even easier for fantasy managers to ignore.
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Thomas Pannone is scheduled to start on Saturday against the Indians. Pannone has allowed one earned run while striking out five and walking one in his five innings of relief in two games this season. The left-hander is unlikely to go very deep into his start this weekend, so he won't be a recommended streamer, even against an Indians lineup that has been struggling at less than full strength early on.
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Thomas Pannone pitched well on Sunday versus the New York Yankees, allowing four hits, two walks, and two runs in seven innings. Pannone struck out six and picked up the win in this contest. The rookie has been solid so far this season pitching to a 2-1 record with a 4.13 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 15 K's in 24 innings. Pannone might be worth a pickup in deeper leagues if he has a friendly matchup.
Thomas Pannone Solid Against The Indians On Sunday
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Thomas Pannone went 6 1/3 innings on Sunday, allowing two runs on four hits in a 6-2 victory. Two solo shots by the Cleveland Indians did all the damage to the 24-year-old, who picked up his second win of the season. Pannone has been relatively solid in limited appearances this year, aside from a seven-run debacle against the Baltimore Orioles on August 28. Pannone has a 2-1 record with a 4.14 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 15/7 K/BB ratio through three starts and six relief appearances this season. Despite the good performance, Pannone should be avoided in his next start on Sunday against the New York Yankees.
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Thomas Pannone is scheduled to face off against the Indians on Sunday. The left-hander and former Blue Jay is 1-1 with a 4.58 ERA on the season in eight outings (two starts). He doesn't miss many bats (6.6 K/9) and has a 6.10 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 2.6 K/9 in his two starts for Toronto this year. He isn't a recommended fantasy streamer against the first-place Indians.
Thomas Pannone Carries No-Hitter Into Seventh Inning Against Orioles
Toronto Blue Jays rookie pitcher Thomas Pannone was fantastic in his first career start on Wednesday afternoon. Pannone carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Trey Mancini singled. Regardless, it would be the only hit that Pannone allowed as he went seven scoreless with three strikeouts and two walks. The Blue Jays offense also came through and allowed him to pick up his first career win. It seems likely that Pannone will earn another start after this gem of a performance, but expectations should be tempered from fantasy managers. The good thing is that his next appearance would come against the same Orioles team he just dominated, so perhaps he could be a serviceable streaming option.
