Garrett Mitchell has Successful Shoulder Surgery

According to Milwaukee Brewers beat writer Adam McCalvy, outfielder Garrett Mitchell's shoulder surgery went as planned on Tuesday. There had previously been hope that he would play late this season, but after further deliberation, it is likely that Mitchell's season is over, Pat Murphy said. At this point, it appears Mitchell will do his best to be ready for Spring Training in 2026, as the injury is likely to keep him out for the remainder of the 2025 season. It was a bit of a lost season for Mitchell, as he slashed a poor .206/.286/.294 in 68 at-bats this season after slashing .255/.342/.469 in 2024. Mitchell is still only 26 years old and was a former first-round pick, so he is worth a hold in dynasty formats. Isaac Collins and Jake Bauers are the most likely suitors to step into the third outfield spot behind Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio.

Garrett Mitchell Out for the Rest of the Season

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) had left-shoulder-stabilization surgery on Tuesday and will miss the rest of the 2025 season, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Curt Hogg. It's the second time that Mitchell will have surgery on his left shoulder, and his goal will now be to get ready for the start of the 2026 campaign. The 26-year-old former 20th overall pick in 2020 out of UCLA just has not been able to stay healthy since making his major-league debut back in 2022, as he hasn't played over 69 games in a single season in Milwaukee. While Mitchell has displayed intriguing power and speed when healthy for the Brewers, this latest injury setback could have dynasty/keeper managers cutting the cord. Not helping Mitchell's cause in Milwaukee is the fact that they have plenty of outfield depth.

Garrett Mitchell to Undergo Shoulder Surgery

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) will undergo surgery on his ailing left shoulder on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. His timeline to return is unclear, but Brewers manager Pat Murphy is hopeful that Mitchell will be able to play again this season. The 26-year-old originally landed on the 10-day injured list on April 26 with a strained left oblique. He was on his way back from that before suffering the shoulder injury on a minor league rehab assignment last week. Mitchell is now set for his second left shoulder procedure after previously going under the knife in April 2023. This has been a lost season to this point for Mitchell, who hit .206/.286/.394 in 78 homer-less plate appearances before going on the IL. He won't have a chance to improve on those numbers for the foreseeable future.

Garrett Mitchell Might Need Another Surgery

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique, shoulder) could require another surgery on his shoulder after suffering an injury during a minor-league rehab game on Friday. Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Mitchell will get a second opinion on his injured shoulder. If he has surgery, Mitchell would likely miss at least another two months which would basically end his season. Mitchell has been sidelined since late April due to an oblique strain. Now, a shoulder injury might end his 2025 campaign. Mitchell isn't someone that needs to be rostered in fantasy formats right now.

Garrett Mitchell Suffers Shoulder Injury

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique/shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during his rehab outing on Friday evening. Mitchell suffered this injury while diving toward first base. Mitchell has been sidelined with an oblique strain he suffered in April. However, this shoulder injury occurred on his left arm, which was surgically repaired due to a torn labrum during the 2023 campaign. Mitchell underwent early imaging, but the results were inconclusive. For the time being, the former top prospect is being taken off his rehab assignment. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears Mitchell could face another lengthy absence. During the first 25 games of the regular season, Mitchell held a .206/.286/.294 line with three stolen bases. He is only worth stashing in deeper NL-only leagues.

Garrett Mitchell Joining Triple-A Nashville

Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique) will join Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday to continue his rehab assignment. The UCLA product has been shelved since April with an oblique strain. Mitchell started his rehab assignment with Milwaukee's rookie-level affiliate over the weekend and struck out in his only two at-bats. It's good news that he'll quickly be moved up a few levels. Still, he'll likely require at least a few more rehab outings before rejoining the big-league squad. Prior to his injury, the 26-year-old was slashing a woeful .206/.286/.294 through his first 25 appearances, though he should slot in as Milwaukee's primary centerfielder upon his return.

Garrett Mitchell, Blake Perkins Starting Rehab Assignment on Monday

Milwaukee Brewers outfielders Garrett Mitchell (oblique) and Blake Perkins (lower leg) are slated to begin a rehab assignment on Monday in the Arizona Complex League. Mitchell has been held out of action since April with an oblique strain. He recently began participating in baseball activities and could return to the majors before the end of the month. During his first 25 games of the season, Mitchell held a .206/.286/.294 slash line with four doubles, no home runs, and three stolen bases. Perkins suffered this leg injury during spring training. He was initially placed on the 10-day injured list but was eventually shifted to the 60-day injured list. Given his current status, fantasy managers should expect Perkins to participate in a more extended rehab assignment than Mitchell. Mitchell will likely compete for a full-time role while Perkins will compete for a depth role when they return to action.

Garrett Mitchell Nearing Rehab Assignment

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique) is expected to begin a rehab assignment next week, according to manager Pat Murphy. This is good news considering Mitchell has been sidelined since late April due to an oblique strain. Mitchell has resumed baseball activities and is inching his way closer to his eventual return. It's unclear how many rehab games Mitchell will need to play before returning to the Brewers outfield. The hope is that Mitchell can return to Milwaukee before the end of June.

Garrett Mitchell Resumes Baseball Activities

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique) has resumed baseball activities, according to the team. The Brewers have gone about a month and a half without Mitchell, who went on the 10-day injured list on April 26 with a left oblique strain. If all goes well during his rehab, he could return to the majors in late June. The 26-year-old hit a productive .255/.342/.469 with six home runs in 11 steals over a 69-game, 224-plate appearance span in 2024. However, Mitchell slumped to a .206/.286/.294 mark with no homers in 25 games and 78 trips to the plate before suffering the injury this year. Mitchell opened the season as the Brewers' primary center fielder, but Jackson Chourio has shifted from left field to take his place.

Garrett Mitchell Likely to be Sidelined Until July

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique) has been making slow progress since his injury in April. Mitchell suffered an oblique strain in late April and is likely to miss two months of action because of it. The organization was hopeful that Mitchell would be back on the roster by now. Sadly, Mitchell isn't making great progress, so he'll probably miss another month. Brewers manager Pat Murphy believes Mitchell should be back in the mix in early July. Mitchell isn't a great fantasy option, but is worth rostering in NL-only formats.
