Jacob Misiorowski Shows Off his High-Strikeout Upside in Opening Day Win

Milwaukee Brewers young right-hander Jacob Misiorowski was electric in the team's 14-2 Opening Day win on Thursday against the visiting Chicago White Sox. Misiorowski showed why he's one of the highest-upside young hurlers in the game by striking out 11 in five innings pitched. He allowed just one earned run on two hits while walking three. The only run that Miz allowed was a leadoff solo home run to infielder Chase Meidroth. The 23-year-old former second-rounder in 2022 out of Crowder College debuted in 2025 to a 5-3 record, 4.36 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 87:31 K:BB in 66 innings over 15 appearances (14 starts). He now already has three 10-strikeout games in his first 15 big-league starts, giving him tons of upside for fantasy managers. Misiorowski's second start of the 2026 season is expected to come next Wednesday, April 1, against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. He'll be a must-start in fantasy in that matchup.

Jacob Misiorowski Named Opening Day Starter

The Milwaukee Brewers named right-hander Jacob Misiorowski as their Opening Day starter this year on Thursday, March 26, against the Chicago White Sox. The hard-throwing right-hander made his major-league debut in 2025 and is now heading into his first full big-league season at the top of Milwaukee's starting rotation. Misiorowski got off to a strong start in his first taste of the majors before slowing down late in the year, but all in all, it was a success. He went 5-3 with a 4.36 ERA (3.62 FIP) and 1.24 WHIP with 87 strikeouts and 31 walks in 66 innings pitched over 15 appearances (14 starts). The 23-year-old was even better in the postseason in 12 innings, posting a 1.50 ERA for the Brew Crew. Misiorowski's elite strikeout upside alone makes him worth using as a No. 3 fantasy starter in all formats, despite his inexperience at the major-league level. In 7 1/3 Cactus League innings this spring, Miz has three earned runs allowed, three walks, and 12 K's in two appearances.

Jacob Misiorowski Could Emerge as a Fantasy Ace in 2026

Across 66 innings as a rookie in 2025, Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski posted a 5-3 record with a 4.36 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 87 strikeouts. The 23-year-old made his MLB debut in mid-June and dominated in the early going, hitting the All-Star break with a 2.81 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP. However, Misiorowski hit some rough patches in the second half of the season, posting a 9.58 ERA in August. Command is an issue for Misiorowski, as he finished his first MLB season with an 11.4% walk rate and recorded a 14.4% walk rate across 97 1/3 innings in the Minors in 2024. If he can't get the walks under control, it will be difficult for Misiorowski to be anything but a drag on the WHIP category for fantasy managers. Still, Misiorowski offers tantalizing swing-and-miss upside. He struck out 31.9% of the batters he faced in 2025 and posted back-to-back Minor league seasons with strikeout rates north of 30% in 2023 and 2024. Misiorowski profiles as a high-risk, high-reward starting pitching option for fantasy managers in 2026.

Jacob Misiorowski Primed for Breakout Season?

Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Jacob Misiorowski is a top breakout candidate heading into the 2026 season. The hard-throwing right-hander made his MLB debut last summer and showcased his high strikeout upside during his limited stint. Through 66 innings of work, Jacob Misiorowski racked up 87 punchouts but was unable to turn in consistent performances. He would finish his debut season with a modest 4.36 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Much of his struggles came in his last 36 2/3 innings, when he posted a high 5.89 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. Under the hood, the former second-round selection generated a strong 3.41 xERA with an elite .202 xBA, suggesting he should see some positive regression in Year 2. Across 81 career innings at Triple-A, Misiorowski has held a dominant 2.22 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. Given his high-end strikeout upside, the right-hander is an intriguing selection at his current 132.5 ADP on NFBC drafts.

Jacob Misiorowski Likely to Work Out of Bullpen in NLDS

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy has said that it's unlikely right-handed pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski will make a start in the National League Division Series against either the division-rival Chicago Cubs or San Diego Padres, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. Since the start of August, Misiorowski had an ERA over 6.00 in his first MLB season, but his fastball also reaches triple digits, which is even more useful in postseason play. Misiorowski is a special talent on the mound, as evidenced by his 11-inning hitless streak to begin his career in Milwaukee when he was initially called up this year. He was never really the same late in the season after going on the injured list after he was hit on the shin by a comebacker. Misiorowski is going to need to throw strikes in whatever bullpen role he's in, whether it be a multi-inning reliever or more of a hammer in high-leverage situations.

Jacob Misiorowski Could Move to Bullpen

Milwaukee Brewers rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski is scheduled to start on Wednesday against the San Diego Padres. However, the Brewers could have Misiorowski end the regular season out of the bullpen instead. Manager Pat Murphy said that it's "certainly a consideration" for Misiorowski to work as a reliever next time he pitches. The towering 23-year-old got off to a great start this season after a mid-June promotion, even earning an invitation to the All-Star Game in July, but has struggled in the second half. After spending the first two weeks of August on the 15-day injured list with a shin bruise, he posted a hideous 9.58 ERA in 10 1/3 innings last month. The hard-throwing Misiorowski has been better across four outings in September, though his 4.50 ERA over 20 frames this month is still below average. In 14 starts this season, Misiorowski has gone 5-3 with a 4.38 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, 84 strikeouts, and 28 walks in 63 2/3 innings.

Jacob Misiorowski Struggles in No-Decision

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski didn't look like himself on the mound during Saturday's outing against the St. Louis Cardinals. Misiorowski had trouble keeping the ball in the yard as he allowed two home runs early. He wasn't really able to settle down at all during this outing. The right-hander tossed five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out four batters in the no-decision. Misiorowski has allowed three earned runs or more in five of his last six starts. He'll hope to get back on track in a rematch against the Cardinals next week.

Jacob Misiorowski Excellent on Sunday

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski looked outstanding on the mound during Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Coming into this start, Misiorowski had struggled lately with three earned runs or more in each of his last four starts. The rookie right-hander was able to bounce back nicely on Sunday. He tossed seven innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out eight batters in the win. The hope is that this will help him get back on track down the stretch of the season. The upside alone makes Misiorowski worth rostering in most fantasy formats. His next start will come against the St. Louis Cardinals next weekend.

Jacob Misiorowski Stumbles in Return From Injury

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski returned from the 15-day injured list on Friday and struggled in a 10-8 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Misiorowski, back after missing two weeks with a tibia contusion, yielded five earned runs on four hits and three walks (with three strikeouts) over 1 1/3 innings. The 23-year-old threw just 28 of 54 pitches for strikes, though he did continue to show off jaw-dropping velocity, maxing out at 101.7 mph and reaching the 100 mph mark 12 times. Misiorowski's ERA climbed by over a run on Friday, going from 2.70 to 3.89, while he also holds a 1.15 WHIP with 50:17 K:BB across his first 34 2/3 frames in the majors. The Brewers haven't announced a date for his next start, but it's likely to come during a five-game series against the division-rival Chicago Cubs next week.

Jacob Misiorowski Activated and Starting on Friday

Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski (leg) has been activated from the 15-day injured list and will make an abbreviated start in Friday's series opener against the division-rival Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, according to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The Brewers put Misiorowski on the IL as a precaution earlier this month with a tibia contusion, but he'll rejoin Milwaukee's starting rotation without making a minor-league rehab start. The hard-throwing 23-year-old will be on a pitch count on Friday, so he may not go deep enough to qualify for a win, but he should still be in consideration for starting fantasy lineups given how dominant he's been early in his career. In his first seven MLB starts, he has recorded a 2.70 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 47 strikeouts and 14 walks in 33 1/3 innings.
