Chad Patrick to Start on Sunday, Brandon Woodruff Pushed Back

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Chad Patrick will start Sunday's series finale against the San Francisco Giants. Righty Brandon Woodruff had been in line to toe the rubber, but he'll instead face the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. Patrick, a 27-year-old rookie, has made 20 appearances (19 starts) and posted a 3.61 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and 99:32 K:BB over 99 2/3 innings this season. On paper, he has a favorable matchup against a Giants offense that ranks 25th in the majors in runs and wOBA. As a bonus, Patrick won't have to face designated hitter/first baseman Rafael Devers, who's resting.

Chad Patrick Optioned

The Milwaukee Brewers have optioned right-hander Chad Patrick to Triple-A Nashville. His roster spot is going to righty Brandon Woodruff (elbow), who's back from the 60-day injured list. The team also transferred outfielder Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) to the 60-day IL. Unfortunately for Patrick, he's the odd man out of Milwaukee's rotation with Woodruff set to make his season debut Sunday against the Miami Marlins. Despite a 3-7 record, Patrick has fared well as a rookie over 19 appearances and 18 starts. The 26-year-old has pitched to a 3.52 ERA with 95:30 K:BB and a 1.30 WHIP in 94 2/3 innings. He looks like a major league-caliber starter and should be back in the bigs later this year.

Chad Patrick Slated to be Primary Pitcher on Saturday

Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Chad Patrick is slated to be the primary relief option during Saturday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies. Curt Hogg of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noted that Rob Zastryzny is expected to serve as the opener. Patrick has appeared in 12 games this season and has started in 11 of them. Through 57 2/3 innings of work, the right-hander has been able to hold his own through his first taste of MLB action. Across this stretch, Patrick has posted a 2.97 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP. Under the hood, he has generated a strong 5.9% barrel rate and a 3.89 xERA, which places him in the 48th percentile among qualified pitchers. This afternoon, fantasy managers should not target Patrick in DFS as he has only posted a modest 21.2% strikeout rate and will have a tough task facing a potent Philadelphia lineup.

Chad Patrick Posts Quality Start In Loss

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Chad Patrick looked fairly sharp on the mound during Saturday's game against the Athletics. Patrick allowed seven hits, but only gave up two earned runs over six innings of work. The right-hander also struck out seven batters along the way which certainly helped his fantasy performance in this one. This start was the deepest Patrick has pitched into a game this season. Despite that, Patrick has been solid with two earned runs or less in all five of his outings. He'll offer some deep league streaming value for his next start against the San Francisco Giants.

Chad Patrick Earns Roster Spot For Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Chad Patrick has made the team's Opening Day roster. Patrick was optioned to Triple-A earlier in March, but with pitchers DL Hall and Tobias Myers dealing with injuries and Brandon Woodruff not quite ready, Milwaukee found itself in need of pitching help. The righty showed enough command and strikeout potential this spring to earn a spot on the roster. Despite allowing five earned runs on 13 hits over eight-and-one-third innings of work, the former fourth-round pick walked just one batter and struck out 10. Whether he makes a start early on or comes on in relief, whenever he takes the mound it will be his MLB debut. The 6-foot-1 hurler pitched well at Triple-A last season, recording a 2.90 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 19.1 percent K-BB% over 136 1/3 IP, but he may be more of a DFS play if he earns a spot start rather than a waiver add.

Chad Patrick Fans Eight Over Six Scoreless Innings

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitching prospect Chad Patrick had an impressive performance on Sunday for Triple-A Nashville, earning his 12th win of the year. Facing the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp for the second time in the series, the 26-year-old right-hander threw six shutout innings and struck out eight batters, allowing four hits and no walks. Through 116 1/3 innings, Patrick has posted a 3.02 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 114:34 K/BB. If he continues to impress in the minors, there's a chance the Brewers will give him a shot to prove himself in the majors, but there is no ETA as it currently stands.
