Houston Astros catcher Tim Federowicz has successfully cleared waivers and has been optioned back to Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies. This was a corresponding move to Brian McCann's activation off the disabled list. In seven at-bats with the Astros, Federowicz hit .143 with one double. He holds no fantasy value.
The San Francisco Giants have designated catcher Tim Federowicz for assignment. The catcher has had a couple of stints in the big leagues over the past couple of years but has been more used for depth. In a related move the Giants claimed infielder/outfielder Micah Johnson off waivers from the Reds. Johnson was once a top prospect for the Chicago White Sox but has bounced around from team to team over the last couple of seasons. Known most for his speed, Johnson has 190 steals in the minor leagues over the past six seasons. He will likely function as organizational depth for the Giants.
