Atlanta Braves outfielder Travis Demeritte isn't in the lineup on Monday. Demeritte is batting .217 with a .267 on-base percentage and three home runs in 90 plate appearances for Atlanta this season, but will get the day off as the team begins a series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Atlanta will go with William Contreras, Adam Duvall, and Ronald Acuna Jr. from left to right in the outfield for a matchup with the Phillies and right-handed starter Zack Wheeler. Both Acuna and Duvall have homered in their respective careers against Wheeler. Acuna has eight hits, including three home runs, in 29 career plate appearances against Wheeler. Meanwhile, Duvall has three hits, one of which was a home run, in 15 lifetime plate appearances versus Wheeler. Contreras has yet to face the right-hander in the Majors.
Detroit Tigers outfielder Travis Demeritte homered twice on Thursday against the New York Yankees. Both home runs were off starter Gerrit Cole. As a team, the Tigers were on fire, hitting nine home runs in this game. Demeritte is having a strong spring training, as he now has four home runs and a .308 batting average. He has made a strong case to make the major league roster. Demeritte appeared in 48 games last season, recording three home runs and three stolen bases while batting .225. Heading into his second major league season, Demeritte should be more comfortable. His power has always been his strongest trait. In 96 Triple-A games in 2019, he hit 20 home runs. Currently, he is behind Victor Reyes, Cameron Maybinand Christin Stewart on the depth chart for a corner outfielder spot. If Demeritte eventually earns a starting role, he would be a good source of power at a low cost in AL-only leagues. Until then, he is not a strong roster option in most formats.
Detroit Tigers infielder Niko Goodrum (groin) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday, but outfielder Travis Demeritte (groin) is back in there, playing right field and hitting second against Astros starter Justin Verlander. Gordon Beckham is at the keystone and is hitting ninth. We'd suggest avoiding Beckham at all costs, while Demeritte is also a tough sell against Houston's ace. Demeritte has 19 hits in his first 65 MLB at-bats (.292) with two homers and five RBI in 18 games.
Detroit Tigers outfielder Travis Demeritte (groin) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Houston Astros. Demeritte is dealing with a sore groin that he suffered during Monday's game. The team doesn't believe it's too serious, so Demeritte is listed as day-to-day. Victor Reyes will bat leadoff and play right field versus righty Aaron Sanchez. Reyes has been on fire with the bat, so he could be a sneaky option for DFS contests.
