He pitched in just 5 1/3 innings at the big-league level for Toronto this year and he has a 4.77 ERA (4.67 FIP), 1.42 WHIP, 98 walks and 249 strikeouts in 260 1/3 major-league innings in the last five years over 108 appearances (35 starts). Thornton won't suddenly have any fantasy value with the move to the American League West.

Ross Stripling, who was previously slated to start, will likely work in relief. Thornton has been solid over 14 appearances (two starts) this year, posting a 2.70 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Stripling, on the other hand, has had a disastrous season, going 0-3 with a 7.20 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over six starts. There's a good chance that he's lost his spot in the rotation for now, though the Blue Jays haven't officially announced that to be the case.
