Trevor Bauer News
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer continued his strong start of the season by picking up his sixth victory of the year versus the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday. Bauer tossed 6 2/3 innings and allowed five hits, four runs (three earned), one walk and struck out five on the evening. All of the damage allowed by Bauer in the contest were off of a two-run home run by Dylan Carlson and a pair of solo home runs by Tyler O'Neill and Justin Williams. Bauer continues to shine on the mound, but he only has eight strikeouts over his last two starts and his previous season-low in a game was six on April 29. Managers still shouldn't worry about the low number of strikeouts of late with Bauer's history of being one of the best strikeout artists in the game. Bauer will carry a 6-3 record to go along with a 2.24 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 76 1/3 innings heading into his next matchup versus the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. Bauer should be started by managers every start he makes.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer picked up his third loss of the season in a good outing versus the Houston Astros on Wednesday. Bauer went six innings and allowed four hits, two runs, four walks and three strikeouts. The three strikeouts were a season-low for Bauer and it was the third time this season that he has allowed four free passes in an outing. Bauer was hurt by the long ball in this contest and both of his runs came off of solo dingers by Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa. Managers have no reason for panic and Bauer is now 5-3 with an impressive 2.07 ERA. Bauer will look to get back in the win column versus the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer continued his impressive season versus the San Francisco Giants on Friday night. Bauer went six 1/3 innings and picked up a quality start. Bauer allowed two hits, one run (zero earned), four walks and struck out 11 on the evening to earn his fifth victory. The Dodgers only had four relief pitchers available on Friday and Bauer threw a season-high 126 pitches. Bauer has lived up to his big offseason payday and will carry a 1.98 ERA into his next start versus the Giants in a rematch on Thursday.
What a season it was for starting pitcherTrevor Bauer in 2020 with the Cincinnati Reds. He posted a ridiculous line with a 36% strikeout rate and a 6.1% walk rate to go with his Cy Young-worthy 1.73 ERA and 0.79 WHIP. The righty had flashed this kind of upside in the past, but it had been an inconsistent career up until last season. Now that he's signed a three-year deal for just over $100 million with the defending World Series-champion Los Angeles Dodgers, he is sure to be a top-five pitcher off the board in 2021 drafts. That climb is completely justified, as Bauer's metrics really back up what he did in 2020. He added tons of spin to all of his offerings, he threw five different pitches and achieved great results on all of them, and he avoided the barrel of the bat like he never had before (.165 expected batting average, .219 expected wOBA). Everything about Bauer's 2020 season makes him look like a sure bet to be a fantasy stud once again in 2021, especially that he'll be pitching for his hometown team with one of the best offenses in baseball backing him. Bauer is a top-five fantasy ace and could come off the board as early as the late first round in fantasy drafts.
