Trevor Bauer News
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer was hit with a two-year suspension by Major League Baseball for violating the league's sexual-assault and domestic-violence policy, and many people think he will never pitch again at the big-league level. "No one wants to stand up there next to him," one long-time baseball person said. The Dodgers may cut him, even if his suspension is reduced to the point where there's still time left on his deal with LA. There's no guarantee that his 324-game ban will be upheld, and Bauer doesn't think he did anything wrong. If Bauer's ban is upheld, the Dodgers would save the full $65 million on his contract. The 31-year-old right-hander can obviously be dropped in all fantasy leagues for the 2022 campaign.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer has been hit with a 324-game suspension from Major League Baseball, beginning on Friday, April 29, for violating the league's domestic-violence and sexual-assault policy. The right-hander's suspension will go into 2024, and he'll receive no credit for the 99 games he's missed while on administrative leave so far. Bauer released a statement denying that he committed any crimes and that he is appealing the MLB's suspension. The 31-year-old has been on administrative leave since the midway point of last season, but if the league's ruling holds up, he'll be out for another year-plus. On the wrong side of 30 years old, this is devastating for the rest of his baseball career.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer has had his administrative leave extended from April 22 to April 29, according to Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic. Ghiroli also reported that no official decision on Bauer's actual return date will be made this week. Based off this report, we can safely expect that Bauer will have his leave extended at least once more. The 31-year-old has been on leave from the league since July last season.

What a season it was for starting pitcherTrevor Bauer in 2020 with the Cincinnati Reds. He posted a ridiculous line with a 36% strikeout rate and a 6.1% walk rate to go with his Cy Young-worthy 1.73 ERA and 0.79 WHIP. The righty had flashed this kind of upside in the past, but it had been an inconsistent career up until last season. Now that he's signed a three-year deal for just over $100 million with the defending World Series-champion Los Angeles Dodgers, he is sure to be a top-five pitcher off the board in 2021 drafts. That climb is completely justified, as Bauer's metrics really back up what he did in 2020. He added tons of spin to all of his offerings, he threw five different pitches and achieved great results on all of them, and he avoided the barrel of the bat like he never had before (.165 expected batting average, .219 expected wOBA). Everything about Bauer's 2020 season makes him look like a sure bet to be a fantasy stud once again in 2021, especially that he'll be pitching for his hometown team with one of the best offenses in baseball backing him. Bauer is a top-five fantasy ace and could come off the board as early as the late first round in fantasy drafts.
