Mike Zunino Recalled From Triple-A, Tuffy Gosewisch Sent Down
Seattle Mariners catcher Mike Zunino will rejoin the Mariners after being recalled from Tacoma Triple-A, per MLB.com. Catcher Tuffy Gosewisch will be sent down after hitting .071 in 28 at-bats. Zunino had homered five times in 45 at-bats playing at Triple-A, and Seattle wants to give him another shot to be the full-time catcher. This is the best-case scenario for the Mariner catching position from a fantasy perspective. Backstop Carlos Ruiz has lost a step and Gosewisch was a non-factor. Zunino hit 22 home runs in 2014, and while he will never hit for a high average, he can flash some occasional power. Take a peak at him in AL-only and two-catcher formats if you're in need of a catcher.
Backup Catcher Tuffy Gosewisch Is 1-For-21 This Season
It has been a tough start for Seattle Mariners Tuffy Gosewisch, who is hitting .048 this season. In 21 at-bats, he has 12 strikeouts and is 0-for-12 since his last hit. Gosewisch is splitting the catching duties with Carlos Ruiz as the Mariners desperately search for offensive answers at the position. The club began the year with Mike Zunino as their starter but optioned him to Triple-A after he hit .167 through 72 at-bats. The only two things Gosewisch has going for him right now from a fantasy perspective is opportunity and an unequivocally awesome name.
