Tyler Black News
Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Tyler Black had a memorable MLB debut in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Rays. Black entered the game to play designated hitter after Gary Sanchez (hamstring) exited with a hamstring injury and went 2-for-4 with a single and a double. The 23-year-old is the Brewers' No. 4 ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline. He was hitting well with Triple-A Nashville and could earn playing time if that translates to the big leagues. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his performance and playing time in the coming days.
The Milwaukee Brewers are set to call up prospect Tyler Black. The infielder is the Brewers' No. 4 ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Black has been hitting well as of late, as in his last 17 games, he's slashing 328/.425/.612 with five home runs and three stolen bases. Black has been primarily playing first and third base in the minors but is expected to challenge Jake Bauers for time at first base. Bauers has struggled as he's slashing .200/.250/.633 with two home runs. If Black can get consistent playing time, he is a viable fantasy option due to his on-base ability. Black is not on the 40-man roster so a corresponding move will need to be made by the Brewers.
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman prospect Tyler Black keeps making the push for a promotion to the big league club, smacking two solo home runs on Sunday for Triple-A Nashville. The 23-year-old is now slashing .303/.393/.525 on the season and has shown some power (five HR), some speed (three SB), and patience (11:12 BB:K). The lefty hit 18 home runs and stole 55 bases last season in 123 games between Double-A and Triple-A, and if he does get the call, he could instantly provide a boost to the Brewers as well as fantasy lineups.

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Tyler Black enjoyed one of the best seasons of any minor leaguer in the 2023 campaign. In his age-22 season, Black hit .284 with 18 home runs and 55 stolen bases between the Double-A and Triple-A levels in 2023, posting an overall .930 OPS in the process. He played the corner infield spots in doing so, which does not suit his profile. While he has pop, his profile figures to be built around speed and a patient approach at the plate (he owns a minor-league career 16.6% BB%), as he should be able to produce above-average on-base percentages. At 5-foot-10, Black might not be able to keep up with the home run power his peers at the corner infield spots offer but he should earn his fair share of extra-base hits thanks to his legs. He won't log enough big-league time to warrant a pick around his 461 ADP as a third baseman, especially in redraft leagues, but if he can ever find a way to get second-base eligible, fantasy managers should be willing to pounce.
