Yankees Ink Tyler Danish To Minor-League Deal

The New York Yankees signed free-agent right-hander Tyler Danish to a minor-league deal on Thursday that includes an invite to major-league spring training. Danish spent last season with the Boston Red Sox, appearing in 32 games out of the bullpen while compiling a 5.13 ERA (4.97 FIP), 1.28 WHIP and 18.5 percent strikeout rate in a career-high 40 1/3 innings pitched. He made his MLB debut back in 2016 with the Chicago White Sox and spent the first three seasons of his career with the Pale Hose. The 28-year-old will be hoping to win a spot on the Opening Day roster as relief depth for the Yankees, but he won't have any fantasy value.

Tyler Danish Outrighted, Becomes Free Agent

Relief pitcher Tyler Danish was outrighted by the Boston Red Sox on Monday, the team announced in a tweet. Additionally, per the Red Sox's tweet, Danish elected to become a free agent. The 28-year-old previously made 32 appearances for the American League East club during the 2022 season, logging 40.1 innings and pitching to a 5.13 ERA and a 4.97 FIP while striking out 32 batters. He also surrendered 12 walks in those 40.1 innings. Heading into the offseason, Boston's bullpen options include the likes of John Schrieber, Matt Barnes, Garrett Whitlock, Ryan Brasier, Tanner Houck, and Kutter Crawford.

Tyler Danish Recalled From Triple-A

Chicago White Sox pitcher Tyler Danish has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. Danish has posted a 3.06 ERA with a 46/26 K/BB in 29 appearances and thrown 64.2 innings this season in Triple A. Chris Volstad has been designated for assignment to make room for Danish on the 25-man roster. Volstad has posted a 6.27 ERA over 32 relief appearances with the White Sox this season.

Tyler Danish To Make First MLB Start On Friday

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Tyler Danish will start the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Tigers, facing Matthew Boyd. Danish made three appearances for the White Sox in 2016, allowing two runs and six hits in 1 2/3 innings, but this will be his first big league start. The 22-year-old carries a respectable 3.15 ERA in eight outings for Triple-A Charlotte this season, though his low strikeout rate (4.53 K/9) is a cause for concern. Danish has only struck out 6.2 batters per nine in 452 minor league innings, so this is not a new problem, and he had a 4.80 ERA between Double-A and Triple-A last season. He should only be looked at in deep AL-only leagues and will likely be sent down after the start.
