Kole Calhoun Honors Tyler Skaggs After Home Run

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Kole Calhoun went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the Angels emotional 9-4 win over the Rangers. Calhoun hit his 18th home run of the season and pointed to the sky at home plate in honor of the tragic passing of teammate Tyler Skaggs. It has been a tough few days for the team but found a way to secure a win. Calhoun is hitting only .229 this season after posting a .191 mark in June but is slashing .295/.408/.590 with runners in scoring position. The slugger is currently on pace to hit a new career mark in home runs, the only dimension of Calhoun's game worth considering in fantasy right now.

Tyler Skaggs Passes Away At Age 27

The Los Angeles Angels confirmed left-handed starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs passed away in Texas at the age of 27. "It is with great sorrow that we report Tyler Skaggs passed away earlier today in Texas," the club released in a statement. "Tyler has, and always will be, an important part of the Angels Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Carli and his entire family during this devastating time." There was no immediate word on the cause of death, only that he was found dead on Monday. That game between the Angels and Rangers was canceled on Monday night. RIP to Skaggs, as it is a shame to see a promising young man cut down in the prime of his life.

Tyler Skaggs Is Searching For Consistency

Los Angeles Angels starter Tyler Skaggs will take the mound Thursday night against the Rays in Tampa Bay. It has been a bumpy road recently for the left-handed pitcher, posting a 5.92 ERA over his last seven starts. He has pitched six or more innings in only two of his last nine starts as he continues to struggle with consistency. Skaggs has decent strikeout totals (59 K's in 58 innings) but has allowed four or more runs in four of his last six starts. Skaggs has the talent but lacks fantasy appeal until he can string several quality starts together.

Tyler Skaggs Aiming For More Consistency

Los Angeles Angels starter Tyler Skaggs picked up the win despite allowing four runs in five innings as the Angels edged the Twins 5-4 on Tuesday. Skaggs (4-3) bounced back from a horrible start last week against Tigers to lead his team to victory despite failing to post a quality start. Skaggs possesses plenty of talent but still is working through consistency issues after an injury-plagued 2018 season. In seven starts this season, Skaggs has pitched six innings in only two of those starts and his 1.40 WHIP will need to improve to become fantasy viable at some point this season.

Tyler Skaggs Activated, Starting on Friday

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs (ankle) has been activated from the 10-day injured list and is starting in Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Skaggs missed two weeks of action due to a sprained ankle. He has been roughed up through three starts, but should pitch fairly well against the mediocre offense of the Royals.

Tyler Skaggs To Start Friday

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs, who has been out since April 12 with a sprained left ankle, will return from the 10-day injured list and make the start on Friday at the Royals. The left-hander threw two bullpen sessions of more than 40 pitches and has been cleared to return. It'll be a good matchup for Skaggs, but he'll be a little more risky from a fantasy point of view if he doesn't go as long in his first start back. The 27-year-old should remain owned in most leagues. He was sporting a 4.20 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 14 strikeouts in 15 innings in his first three starts. We wouldn't blame you if you're hesitant to use him this weekend.

Tyler Skaggs Ready To Go

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs (ankle) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday and said he's "ready to roll." Skaggs should be activated from the injured list in order to start later this week. If he returns this weekend, he'll be back for a good matchup against the Royals on the road. The left-hander has a 4.20 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 8.4 K/9 in his three starts this year and should remain owned in all fantasy leagues as one of the Angels better starting pitchers.

Tyler Skaggs Moving Closer To Mound Return

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs (ankle) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session over the weekend and he reported feeling fine. Manager Brad Ausmus said Sunday that he anticipates Skaggs needing one more side session before he is ready to return from the 10-day injured list. "Don't be surprised if I'm toeing that slab again soon," Skaggs added. The team might be cautious with his left ankle, and he might not return without some restrictions, meaning he wouldn't be green lighted for 100 pitches. As such, fantasy owners will probably want to give him a start or two before plugging him back into the active lineup.

Tyler Skaggs To Throw Off Mound This Weekend

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs (ankle) is expected to throw off a mound this weekend, according to manager Brad Ausmus. The left-hander was long tossing this week, so he's making progress towards a return from the injured list and could be back in the rotation next week if all goes well. The 27-year-old allowed 17 hits and seven earned runs while walking two and fanning 14 in 15 innings (4.20 ERA) in his first three starts of the season. He should remain useful to fantasy owners in deep mixed leagues when he's healthy and is essentially the Halos ace until Andrew Heaney returns.

Tyler Skaggs Plays Long Toss

Just days after landing on the injured list with a left ankle sprain, Los Angeles Angels starter Tyler Skaggs played long toss Wednesday. It was the first step in the 27-year-old's rehab process, with positive results resulting in a potential bullpen session. Skaggs may not need any rehab starts and if all goes well, he could return as soon as his injured list stint concludes on April 27. In three starts this season, the left-hander has gone 1-2 with a 4.20 ERA.
