Boston Red Sox pitcher William Cuevas only lasted two innings in Friday's 8-0 loss to the New York Mets. He allowed two runs on three hits while striking out four batters and walking one. Hector Velazquez was originally scheduled to start the game for the Red Sox, but he was scratched due to an illness. Cuevas has only tossed 9 1/3 innings in 2018. He's been used in a long-relief role for the majority of the season. Cuevas has no fantasy value and can be left on the waiver wire.
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher William Cuevas will start the second game of a doubleheader against the Orioles on Saturday, according to a source. The 27-year-old has made just one relief appearance for Boston this year and allowed a solo home run in two innings. He's posted a 3.45 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 7.8 K/9 in 20 starts for Triple-A Pawtucket. The matchup is a nice one against the worst team in baseball, but you'd still have to be pretty desperate to use Cuevas.
The Boston Red Sox have called up relief pitcher William Cuevas on Monday in time for the start of their series against the Washington Nationals. A corresponding move has not been revealed as of yet. Cuevas throws very hard but has not had any real major league success during his time with the Sox and the Detroit Tigers. He has gone 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 15 starts in Triple-A this season, so he can obviously give the Sox a lot of length in his outings. That said, Cuevas isn't on the fantasy radar right now.
