The Texas Rangers have signed veteran catcher Wilson Ramos to a minor league deal and he will reportedly join the team's Triple-A Round Rock club. Ramos split the 2021 season with the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians. His 2021 season came to an end last August when he tore his ACL. He's been working his way back ever since. The 35-year-old veteran slashed .205/.248/.397 over 44 games last year while compiling eight home runs, 20 RBI and 15 runs.
According to Mandy Bell, Cleveland Indians catcher Wilson Ramos tore his ACL and sprained his MCL in yesterday's 7-5 win over the Boston Red Sox. This news is very disappointing as it will end Ramos' season. He had two home runs and seven RBI across 31 at-bats in August and made for a solid value DFS play when in the lineup.
Cleveland Indians catcher Wilson Ramos went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 9-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds. This marks the second time in two starts that Ramos has gone yard for the Tribe. Fantasy managers that need help at catcher would be wise to monitor Ramos's time behind the plate to see if the Indians begin to favor him over the next week or two. If so, he could provide some solid pop from a weaker position in the fantasy playoffs.
Cleveland Indians catcher Wilson Ramos will be behind the plate and bat seventh tonight against Luis Castillo and the Cincinnati Reds at Progressive Field. This marks the second time Ramos will suit up for the Indians as he went 3-for-4 with a home run in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers. Ramos is only recommended as a value play tonight in DFS against Castillo as he is just 1-for-6 with three strikeouts in his career vs. him and Castillo has been terrific by allowing one earned run or less in five of his previous six starts.
Indians Agree To Minor League Deal With Wilson Ramos
According to Bernie Pleskoff, the Cleveland Indians have agreed to a minor league deal with catcher Wilson Ramos. Ramos was DFA'd by the Detroit Tigers on June 20th and has agreed to a minor league deal with the Cleveland Indians. He was having a rough season as he was slashing just .200/.238/.392 with six home runs and 13 RBI through his first 120 at-bats before a back injury landed him on the IL. He will likely get an opportunity on the big league squad at some point, but only as a backup to Roberto Perez, and therefore, has very little fantasy value at this point.
Detroit Tigers catcher Wilson Ramos was designated for assignment on Tuesday, according to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. Ramos got off to a nice start with Detroit in April, slashing .224/.258/.482 with six homers, nine RBI and nine runs scored over 25 games. But a stint on the injured list cost Ramos time, and after slashing .143/.189/.171 over 10 games in May, he got passed up on the depth chart by Jake Rogers and Eric Haase. Depending on where he lands, Ramos could still have some value in fantasy this year, but it will likely be limited to deeper mixed leagues and two-catcher formats.
Detroit Tigers catcher Wilson Ramos (spine) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a lumbar spine strain. The team activated pitcher Derek Holland (shoulder) from the injured list in a corresponding move. This is Ramos' second trip to the injured list this month, both due to the same injury. He was activated from his last stint on May 17, but struggled over the past week, managing just two hits over 23 at-bats. Jake Rogers and Eric Haase will split catching duties while Ramos is out.
Detroit Tigers catcher Wilson Ramos (back) has been activated off the 10-day injured list. The veteran catcher missed the minimum 10 days while dealing with a minor back issue. He hasn't brought much to the plate lately outside of his six home runs this season. It wouldn't be surprising to see Jake Rogers head back to the minors with Ramos returning. Ramos is worth using in two-catcher leagues, but it's difficult to imagine him holding enough value to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats.
Detroit Tigers catcher Wilson Ramos (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a lumbar spine strain, according to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. Manager AJ Hinch said that the team hopes it is a short term injury for Ramos, but he was expected to be out long enough that they opted to place him on the injured list to free up a space on the roster. Ramos is currently tied for fourth among catchers with six home runs this season, as he is slashing .227/.265/.464 in 29 games. In a corresponding move, the Tigers have recalled prospect Jake Rogers from Triple-A.
Detroit Tigers catcher Wilson Ramos is out of the lineup on Saturday against the Yankees. Grayson Greiner will get the start behind the plate and bat eighth against New York starter Jameson Taillon. Ramos is in the midst of what's shaping up to potentially be a nice bounce-back season from 2020, as he's hitting .224 with a .741 OPS, while his six home runs have already surpassed his 2020 total in 20 fewer games. In deep-mixed and AL-only leagues, Ramos is worth rostering for that power he's displaying early on.
