Zack Cozart News

Zack Cozart Expected To Be Ready For Spring Training

Los Angeles Angels general manager Billy Eppler said that third baseman Zack Cozart (shoulder) is in a normal hitting progression and all indications are that he'll be active and without restrictions in spring training next year. The 34-year-old has played in just 96 games in his two seasons in Anaheim and has been a massive free-agent bust for the Angels. He hit a weak .124/.178/.144 with no home runs and seven RBI in his 38 games in 2019. Cozart won't be a lock for regular playing time in 2020 until he proves his health and produces. He won't be one to target in the later rounds in mixed league drafts next spring.

Zack Cozart To Have Season-Ending Surgery

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Zack Cozart (shoulder) will have season-ending arthroscopic debridement on his left shoulder next Wednesday, July 17, according to general manager Billy Eppler. Cozart has done very little of anything in his two years with the Halos and was also held to just 58 games due to injury in 2018. He hit a brutal .124/.178/.144 with no homers and seven RBI in 38 games for the Angels this year and was already well off the fantasy radar before this news of season-ending surgery.

Angels Placing Zack Cozart On Injured List

The Los Angeles Angels are placing third baseman Zack Cozart (shoulder) on the injured list on Tuesday with a left shoulder issue and will recall outfielder Cesar Puello in a corresponding move. Cozart had surgery on his left shoulder last June, which cost him the last three months of the season, so this injury could be related. He's hitting an abysmal .124/.178/.144 with no homers and seven RBI in 97 at-bats for the Halos this year and should be left to the waiver wire. LA can mix and match at third base with Tommy La Stella, Luis Rengifo and David Fletcher in the meantime. Puello will strictly be outfield depth for the Angels.

Zack Cozart Can't Get Season On Track

Los Angeles Angels infielder Zack Cozart will start and hit eighth Thursday against the Twins. It has been an abysmal start to the veteran's season, who comes into tonight's game hitting only .129 through 85 at-bats with only two extra-base hits. Cozart has posted only one multi-hit game all season and is only 2-for-31 hitting at home this season. This is not what either party envisioned when the Angels gave Cozart big money a season ago. There is still plenty of time to turn his season around but Cozart is trending towards not being on the club much longer if he continues to struggle at this rate moving forward.

Zack Cozart is Activated on Tuesday

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Zack Cozart (neck) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Cozart missed almost two weeks of action due to neck discomfort. He was struggling at the plate before the injury, so Cozart can be ignored in most fantasy leagues for the moment.

Zack Cozart Progressing

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Zack Cozart (neck) still doesn't have full range of motion to turn his head to the left, but he said he is progressing after taking batting practice on Tuesday. He thinks he will be ready to play when he's eligible to come off the injured list this Saturday. We doubt he'll be back with the Halos by this weekend, but it could come early next week. Cozart is hitting just .109 (7-for-64) with no homers and four RBI on the season and might not even see consistent playing time upon his return.

Zack Cozart Lands on Injured List

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Zack Cozart (neck) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. Cozart has been dealing with neck stiffness all week, so it's not surprising the Angels have decided to give him some rest. Infielder Luis Rengifo has been recalled from Triple-A to take Cozart's spot on the active roster. David Fletcher will likely draw the start at third base on Thursday, but the lineup has not been announced yet.

Zack Cozart Scratched from Lineup

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Zack Cozart (neck) has been scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup against the New York Yankees. Cozart was expected to return on Wednesday, but neck stiffness will sideline him. David Fletcher will bat first and play third base, while Tommy La Stella slides over to second base and bats ninth versus lefty CC Sabathia. Fletcher could be someone worth looking at in DFS contests while batting first.

Zack Cozart in the Lineup on Wednesday

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Zack Cozart (head) is returning to the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees. Cozart was removed from Monday's game after hitting his head. He pinch hit on Tuesday but appears ready to return to the lineup on Wednesday. He'll bat ninth and play third base versus leftyCC Sabathia. Fantasy owners can go ahead and plug him back into their lineups in AL-only leagues.

Zack Cozart Will Avoid Injured List

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Zack Cozart (head) was cleared of a concussion and passed all the tests after he went under observation on Monday night after banging his head at second base. He will not land on the injured list and is available off the bench on Tuesday night. Cozart might stay benched if he doesn't pick it up offensively, as he's hitting a putrid .111/.159/.127 with no homers and four RBI to begin the year. He could start losing playing time to David Fletcher at third base. He has no business being owned in mixed leagues right now.
