Last week’s article ( you can read it here ) wasn’t anything to brag about, but we’re showing you the results anyways. For the most part, the players we suggested did exactly what our NBA projections said they would. Ideally, we always want players to over-achieve their daily projections, but there is some comfort in knowing the projections are on point and at least close to each and every game. The goal is to always try to find value and that’s what our NBA tools helps you do.
Overall I would give last week’s article C+
Studs DFS Player
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander | Oklahoma City Thunder
FantasyData Projection: 48 | DraftKings Cost: $10800
This season, Gilgeous-Alexander has surpassed his scoring expectation in 57% of his games and is averaging 49.7 fantasy points per contest. As of late, his average salary has been on the rise, but he comes into the game with an excellent matchup. Today’s game against Los Angeles has the highest over/under a total of the slate and should be played at an up-tempo pace.
Trae Young | Atlanta Hawks
FantasyData Projection: 46 | DraftKings Cost: $9400
Trae Young is projected to finish 6th among today’s options and is averaging 47.4 fantasy points per game which is 5th best among today’s players. For the season, he is averaging 2.1 made 3’s per game to go along with an effective field goal percentage of 48%. The Hawks and Pelicans are projected to finish with one of the higher scoring totals of the day, and Young should be featured all night in Atlanta’s offense.
Anthony Edwards | Minnesota Timberwolves
FantasyData Projection: 42 | DraftKings Cost: $10000
For the season, the Nuggets, are just 24th in field goal percentage allowed, which should benefit Edwards who is averaging 2.7 made three-pointers per contest and 24.7 points per game. Minnesota is also one of the faster-paced teams in the NBA, sitting 6th in possessions per contest. Edwards is projected to end today’s game with 42.6 fantasy points, placing him 8th among today’s players. This season he has surpassed his projected fantasy score in 57% of his games.
CJ McCollum | New Orleans Pelicans
FantasyData Projection: 37 | DraftKings Cost: $8000
At $8000, McCollum is a good value play as he plays a key role in the team’s offense and is averaging 35.1 minutes per contest, which ranks 9th among today’s players. For the season, McCollum is averaging 2.9 made three-pointers per contest on a shooting percentage of 39%. Given that he comes in at a good price and is the 13th-best option in projected scoring, McCollum is a good value against the Hawks.
Value DFS Player
Immanuel Quickley | New York Knicks
FantasyData Projection: 27 | DraftKings Cost: $5400
For the season, Quickley has hit 34% of his three-point shots and has an overall field goal percentage of 45%. He is coming into today’s game as the 33rd-best option in projected fantasy scoring, with an average of 18.9 fantasy points per contest. However, over his last three games, he has increased his DFS production by 11%. Given his matchup against the Magic, look for Quickley to put together another strong performance.
Cole Anthony | Orlando Magic
FantasyData Projection: 24 | DraftKings Cost: $5000
Anthony comes into the game slightly more expensive than his season average, but he’s also has had his usage rate jump to 21% over his last three games. Our projections have him as the 41st-best option, but he is a good candidate to outperform expectations against a defensive unit ranked 24th in points allowed per game.
Tyus Jones | Memphis Grizzlies
FantasyData Projection: 22 | DraftKings Cost: $5100
With Steven Adams out of the lineup, the Grizzlies will be looking for an extra scoring punch that Jones could help fill. For the season, he has hit 44% of his field goals and is projected to finish with 22 fantasy points. Look for him to play a bigger role in this offense against the Bulls, making him a good value play at $5100.
Rui Hachimura | Los Angeles Lakers
FantasyData Projection: 22 | DraftKings Cost: $5100
Hachimura has a good matchup against a Thunder team that is one of the worst defensive units in the league. Coming into the game, he is projected to finish 22.6 fantasy points and has a season-long effective field goal percentage of 53.2%. For the season, Hachimura is averaging 10.6 field goal attempts per game, but given that this game should be played at a fast pace, look for him to get some extra opportunities.
