Alperen Sengun Locked In As Starter For Rockets Opener

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun has officially been named a starter for Tuesday's season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Head coach Ime Udoka confirmed he will roll out a "jumbo" frontcourt featuring Sengun alongside veteran Steven Adams, a move likely aimed at matching the Thunder's physical interior play. Sengun took a major leap last season, averaging 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game while establishing himself as one of the most versatile offensive centers in the league. His combination of post scoring, playmaking, and rebounding makes him a reliable fantasy option in all formats. With Houston committed to giving him a major role once again, Sengun should be locked into fantasy lineups as a high-floor, high-upside producer on opening night.

Alperen Sengun Drops 28 Points in EuroBasket Finals

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun had quite the EuroBasket performance, finishing in the top seven for points and top four for both assists and rebounds per game. Ultimately, Sengun and Turkey fell just short of the gold medal by five points to Germany. In 30 minutes, Sengung posted 28 points, three rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and three turnovers while shooting 11-for-22 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. As the go-to guy for Turkey, Sengun really proved that he belongs in the upper echelon of big men right now. He registered 21.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game through nine games.

Alperen Sengun Posts Historic Triple-Double

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun has made history by becoming the youngest player to achieve a triple-double in EuroBasket history. He led Turkey to the semifinals with a 91-77 victory over Poland on Tuesday, finishing the contest with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Sengun is now one of only five players to record a triple-double in EuroBasket since rebounds and assists started getting tracked in 1995. It's been a hugely successful tournament for Sengun, whose averages stand at 21.6 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 7.1 assists. Houston's rising star has shot nearly 60 percent from the field and will battle with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece for a spot in the 2025 EuroBasket final.

Alperen Sengun Close to Triple-Double Versus Serbia

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun delivered a remarkable performance at EuroBasket on Wednesday, nearly achieving a triple-double in Turkey's 95-90 victory over Nikola Jokic and Serbia. Sengun led all scorers with 28 points, collected a game-high 13 rebounds, and handed out eight assists. He also snagged one steal while shooting 10-for-17 from the field with a 4-for-7 showing from beyond the arc. Triple-doubles are rare at EuroBasket, with only four players posting one since 1995. Sengun was also very close to a triple-double earlier in the tournament against Czechia, falling short by just one assist. Overall, he has averaged 21.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 29.0 minutes. Sengun will have his next race for a triple-double on Saturday in a round of 16 matchup against Sweden.

Alperen Sengun Achieves Rare Numbers at EuroBasket

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun continued to feast at the EuroBasket on Monday and hit a special milestone in Turkey's 84-64 win over Estonia. He became the first player in 30 years to post 20-plus points, five-plus rebounds, and five-plus assists in three consecutive EuroBasket games. The Rockets star finished the game with 21 points, eight boards, five assists, one steal, and one block, shooting 8-for-13 from the field, including 2-for-3 from three-point range. In the tournament, Sengun is the ninth-highest scorer with 20.0 points per game, ranks fourth with 8.8 rebounds, and third with 6.5 assists. He's a uniquely talented big man, and it's scary to think how much potential Sengun still has, given he only turned 23 in July.

Alperen Sengun Records Third Consecutive Double-Double

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun posted a third consecutive double-double in a 109-106 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, leading all scorers with 31 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He completed his line with five assists and two steals in 42 minutes, but efficiency was once again an issue for Sengun in the game. After making 61 percent of his shots in the series opener, Sengun has been held to below 43 percent shooting in each subsequent game. He finished 12-for-28 from the field on Monday while going 7-for-10 with his free throws. The Turkish big man has led the Rockets in the postseason, averaging 22.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.8 steals. However, his efforts may not be enough for the team as Houston heads into Wednesday's Game 5 facing elimination.

Alperen Sengun Sidelined Against The Clippers

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (back) won't play on Wednesday against the Clippers. Houston will enter the postseason as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. As a result, Sengun, Dillon Brooks (rest), Jabari Smith Jr. (groin), Fred VanVleet (ankle), and Amen Thompson (rest) will get the night off. Jalen Green and Tari Eason are good to go, so it's logical to assume they'll carry the load offensively. But as far as the center spot is concerned, Steven Adams, averaging 10.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals in three starts this season, is worth considering for DFS lineups.

Alperen Sengun Iffy For Wednesday

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (back) is considered questionable for Wednesday's clash against the Los Angeles Clippers. The big man from Turkey is dealing with soreness in his lower back and might be absent from the lineup for only the fifth time this season. Steven Adams and Jock Landale are likely to see increased usage if Sengun is ruled out for the game. Jabari Smith Jr. (groin) can also fill minutes at center, but he isn't at 100 percent either and has joined Sengun on the injury report with a questionable designation.

Alperen Sengun Out Against Thunder

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (back) will not play in Monday's matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He is battling back soreness, and the team has downgraded Sengun from questionable to out. At the same time, Steven Adams (ankle) has been upgraded to available, so he will help to fill the void left by Sengun's absence, along with Jock Landale, who has been named a starter for the contest. Jabari Smith Jr. will likely also help to fill some of the minutes at center.

Alperen Sengun Tagged As Questionable On Monday

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (back) is dealing with some lower-back soreness, which caused the team to list him as questionable for Monday's matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He just posted 30 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and one block across 37 minutes against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, so the big man may have experienced some post-game issues if it has lingered into Monday. If he's unable to play, Steven Adams (ankle) is also considered questionable, so that would leave Jabari Smith Jr. and Jock Landale as the next two up. Both could be considered for a one-game streaming option, especially for fantasy managers in need of some big-man stats.
