Atlanta Hawks forward David Roddy (illness) will play on Wednesday versus the Knicks. He was dealing with an illness, resulting in a questionable designation. However, the 23-year-old will be out there. With De'Andre Hunter (knee) still out, Roddy, who had 11 points, six boards, and three assists in Monday's loss to the Boston Celtics, should warrant streaming consideration.
The Phoenix Suns traded forward David Roddy to Atlanta in exchange for forward EJ Liddell. The 23-year-old began his career in Memphis but was traded to Phoenix ahead of last season's deadline. He played sparingly in Phoenix, averaging only 1.3 points in 17 games. With that in mind, Roddy likely won't see much action with the Hawks. However, he could be worth adding to fantasy rosters if Atlanta needs to put him on the floor during the 2024-25 campaign.
Phoenix Suns forward David Roddy scored a game-high 21 points as the team defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 100-99 in the Summer League on Wednesday. Roddy's heroics included a made triple and three successful free throws inside the final 20 seconds, which helped Phoenix turn around a 97-94 deficit. He finished 4-for-8 overall from behind the arc and shot 7-for-13 from the field. The 23-year-old bagged six rebounds and had five assists with one steal and one block. Since being selected in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft, Roddy has struggled to nail down a role for himself in the league, but he's been playing well this summer. He has averaged 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in three Summer League appearances.
Memphis Grizzlies forward David Roddy struggled in Wednesday's Summer League win over OKC. After scoring 18 points in Monday's win over Philadelphia, he had only eight points in this one, going 2-for-12 from the field and 1-for-4 from deep while adding five assists and four rebounds. The 22-year-old is still a work in progress, and he finished last season by averaging 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds. Roddy's shooting percentages need to improve. But even then, he may not see enough minutes in 2023-24 to be a reliable fantasy option in nearly all formats. However, the 2022 first-round pick is worth a stash in dynasty setups, especially since his fantasy stock can't go anywhere but up.
