Free-agent guard Josh Christopher agreed to a two-way deal with the Miami Heat. The 22-year-old spent the last two years with the Rockets. In 138 games in Houston, he averaged 6.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. With that said, he likely won't see much work with the big club during the 2024-25 campaign. However, even if Christopher gets his chance with the main unit, he probably won't play often enough to be a relevant fantasy option.
Miami Heat shooting guard Josh Christopher was named MVP of the Summer League Championship game after he scored 24 points to help his squad to a 120-118 overtime victory against Memphis. Christopher heated up in the semifinals against Golden State with a 23-point effort and continued where he left off on Monday. The 22-year-old shot a sizzling 6-for-10 from three-point range and 9-for-17 overall. He came up big defensively as well, with three steals and two blocks. Christopher, a first-round pick in 2021, hopes to secure a two-way contract with the Heat. He has averaged 6.9 points in 15.4 minutes across 138 career games but didn't see any NBA action last season.
Josh Christopher Tagged As Questionable Against Spurs
Houston Rockets guard Josh Christopher (foot) is uncertain to play against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night. He didn't make an appearance in the team's last win over the Philadelphia 76ers and has had an extended break since then. With the two days off, the fact that he's still questionable is slightly concerning. Even if he does play, he's not likely to be fantasy relevant as the most minutes he's played in a game this season is only 15. At this point, he's not even a must-add in dynasty formats either.
Josh Christopher Ruled Out For Remainder Of Summer League
Houston Rockets guard Josh Christopher (hip) has been ruled out for the remainder of this year's Summer League tournament. He is dealing with right hip soreness. Christopher started each of the team's first three Summer League games and was extremely active in each contest. He average 19.7 points per game while shooting 39.6% from the field. Christopher is going into his second year in the NBA. He played just 18 minutes per game as a rookie and should see similar playing time in his sophomore season.
Armoni Brooks, Josh Christopher Draw Starts Monday
The Houston Rockets will deploy the duo of Armoni Brooks and Josh Christopher as their starting backcourt for Monday's matchup vs. the Hornets. With both Jalen Green (rest) and Kevin Porter Jr. (thigh) active but not expected to play, Brooks and Christopher should be in line for a sizable increase in both minutes and offensive usage. Brooks has enjoyed a solid run in December, averaging seven three-point attempts per game despite having a fluctuating role. Christopher will be making just his second professional start, having logged 10 points and seven assists across 28 minutes in his first go-round. With Charlotte and Houston boasting the second and third-fastest pace of play in the league, respectively, DFS managers can hone in on what should be a scintillatingly paced matchup.
