P.J. Washington Battling Hip Tightness

Dallas Mavericks power forward P.J. Washington did not play in Monday's preseason game versus Memphis due to left hip tightness. It doesn't sound like a serious issue for Washington, but this might not end up being the only game he sits out, as the Mavericks won't want to take any risks ahead of the regular season. The team is already dealing with several injuries. Washington proved to be a great mid-season pickup for the Mavericks last term and should enjoy another fine campaign in Dallas. He averaged 11.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals after moving from Charlotte to Texas. There should also be room for improvement for the 26-year-old, as Washington's shooting numbers dipped a bit on his new team.

P.J. Washington Contributes 17 Points In Game 2 Against Celtics

Dallas Mavericks forward/center P.J. Washington continued to struggle from downtown in Game 2 against Boston on Sunday, but he still ended up as the team's second-best scorer behind Luka Doncic. The versatile big man finished a 105-98 loss with 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting. He was 1-for-5 with the three-ball and has now hit 9-for-40 overall from behind the arc since the start of the Western Conference Finals. The Mavericks could really use Washington's three-point bombs right now, having averaged only 93.5 points in the Finals. In Sunday's Game 2, the former Hornet also recorded seven rebounds with one assist and one block in 40 minutes.

P.J. Washington Comes Close To Double-Double

Dallas Mavericks forward P.J. Washington delivered the second-most points on the team behind the 30-point performance from Luka Doncic. The bad thing is that resulted in a blowout loss in Game 1 by the tune of 107-89. Washington posted 14 points on 5-for-11 shooting and chipped in eight rebounds and one assist. He was unable to hit any threes in this contest and the team followed suit as they went 7-for-27 from deep. The former Hornet has been a key piece to the Mavericks' playoff run so far, and he's likely to deliver at least a couple of big offensive performances. His defensive abilities will be tested against the potent Celtics offense.

P.J. Washington Plays Effective Game Against Minnesota Wednesday

Dallas Mavericks forward/center P.J. Washington recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks as the team opened the Western Conference Finals against Minnesota with a 108-105 win on Wednesday. It was a rough shooting night for the 28-year-old, as Washington finished 4-for-10 from the field and 2-for-8 with his three-point attempts, but he made a big shot late in the game to set the Mavericks on their way. Washington's second triple gave Dallas a 104-102 lead with 1:56 remaining in the fourth quarter. Despite the poor shooting, Washington led all Mavericks starters with a plus-12 rating. The former Hornet has looked great in these playoffs, and the Mavericks tend to have a tough time when he's off the court.

P.J. Washington Remains Sharp In Game 4 Against Thunder

Dallas Mavericks forward/center P.J. Washington continued his successful series against the Thunder on Monday with a 21-point, 12-rebound effort in a 100-96 loss. Like many of his teammates, Washington struggled for efficiency, shooting 7-for-19, but he was outstanding with a 5-for-11 effort from three-point range. Washington's night also included one block. The 25-year-old started off the series with a fairly quiet performance in Game 1, but he has since then hit top gear to average 21.8 points and 8.8 rebounds with a fantastic 51.4 percent shooting from deep. Dallas will need more of the same from him as the series heads back to Oklahoma City tied through four games.

P.J. Washington Pours In 29 Points

Dallas Mavericks forward P.J. Washington was tied for the team lead in points during their Game 2 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday. The former Hornet registered 29 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block while shooting 11-for-18 from the floor and a red-hot 7-for-11 from downtown. This is why the Mavericks made the move to bring in his services, they've needed a third scorer who can also provide defense in the frontcourt. Washington has given them spurts of brilliance while staying solid most of the way through his Dallas tenure. Through the first playoff run of his career so far, Washington is averaging 13.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

P.J. Washington To Play Versus OKC

According to Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, forward PJ Washington will play on Saturday versus the Thunder. Washington has shown flashes of promise since entering the league in 2019. He's averaged 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 304 games with the Hornets. However, the 25-year-old hasn't had a consistent role in Charlotte over the last season or two. But Washington could carve out a routine spot in the Mavs' rotation, even if he doesn't start consistently, which is good news for his fantasy outlook in Dallas. Of course, he'll need to battle Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving for offensive chances. Yet, those guys often battle injuries, which is a plus for Washington's fantasy managers. At the same time, the 2019 No. 12 overall pick can produce in other ways outside of the scoring column.

P.J. Washington On The Move To Dallas

Charlotte Hornets forward P.J. Washington is on his way to the Dallas Mavericks after being traded for Grant Williams, Seth Curry, and a lightly protected 2027 first-round pick. Washington has been a good asset for the Hornets but didn't quite hit as high of a ceiling as the team was hoping. Instead, he'll fill a role that perfectly suits him on a Mavericks squad that needs another outlet scorer and a bigger presence since Williams wasn't cutting it this year. In his four-and-a-half seasons with the Hornets, Washington averaged 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 made threes, and 1.5 turnovers per contest while shooting 45.0% from the floor and 35.9% from beyond the arc.

P.J. Washington To Return Against Miami

Charlotte Hornets forward/center P.J. Washington (foot) will return for Sunday's meeting with the Miami Heat. The 25-year-old injured his ankle during the January 5 matchup against the Chicago Bulls, keeping him off the floor for Charlotte's following three contests. He was listed as doubtful, so most assumed he was heading for a fourth consecutive absence. However, Washington is good to go, which is welcome news, considering the Hornets are down Mark Williams (back) and Gordon Hayward (calf). Washington has averaged 12 points this season, more than two points less than a season ago. Still, he has the potential to see an increased workload and scoring opportunities, although he hasn't been a consistent fantasy contributor.

Hornets Downgrade P.J. Washington To Out

Charlotte Hornets forward/center P.J. Washington (foot) won't play in Wednesday's contest versus the Sacramento Kings. A sprained right foot held Washington to six minutes of court time last Friday, and he will not suit up for the second game in a row due to the injury. The 25-year-old stretch four will hope to get back into Charlotte's lineup when they start a three-game road trip on Friday against the San Antonio Spurs. With Gordon Hayward (calf) and Mark Williams (back) stuck on the shelf for the Hornets as well, Miles Bridges and Nick Richards should dominate the frontcourt minutes on Wednesday. Brandon Miller will likely be needed for more minutes at the four, with JT Thor also staying quite involved from head coach Steve Clifford's second unit.
