Marcus Sasser Enjoys Good Two-Way Outing

Detroit Pistons guard Marcus Sasser played a big role in Tuesday's 85-77 victory over Chicago in the Las Vegas Summer League, scoring 17 points on 5-for-13 shooting and registering five steals. The rest of the Pistons combined for only four steals, while Sasser tied Ronald Holland II for the second most points on the team behind Jayce Johnson's 19-point effort. Sasser went 3-for-5 with the three-ball and dished out three assists. The former Houston Cougar struggled offensively in the first couple of Summer League games but has been a menace on the defensive end, with nine steals racked up in three games. He's looking to carve out a role for the upcoming season on a new-look Pistons backcourt, which now includes Malik Beasley and Tim Hardaway Jr.

Cade Cunningham, Marcus Sasser Cleared For Action

Detroit Pistons guards Cade Cunningham (knee) and Marcus Sasser (illness) have been upgraded to available ahead of Wednesday's meeting with the Hawks. Both players were initially regarded as questionable for the game. Sasser returns from a two-game absence, while Cunningham has been enjoying one of the strongest stretches of the season lately. He has gone for at least 30 points in three consecutive games. Considering Cunningham will be facing a team that has the fourth-worst defensive rating in the league, the young Pistons star has a good chance to post the longest 30-point streak of his career.

Marcus Sasser Questionable For Wednesday's Matchup

Detroit Pistons point guard Marcus Sasser (illness) is questionable for Wednesday's contest against Atlanta. The rookie could be out for a third consecutive game with an upper respiratory illness. In Sasser's absence, Malachi Flynn has taken over a bigger workload. Flynn hasn't made a big impact, but he could become a viable fantasy option on Wednesday if Sasser remains out and Cade Cunningham (injury) joins him on the sidelines. The latter is also listed as questionable for the game. A clash with a team that is ranked 27th in defensive efficiency promises to be a good one for whoever's eventually healthy for the Pistons.

Marcus Sasser Remains Out On Monday

Detroit Pistons point guard Marcus Sasser (illness) will sit out a second consecutive contest on Monday against the Grizzlies. He hasn't recovered from an illness that gave Sasser a questionable tag on the initial injury report. Malachi Flynn should have a chance to feature more with Sasser out, although he will still have only a limited role, as Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey dominate play on the Pistons' backcourt.

Marcus Sasser Questionable For Monday

Detroit Pistons guard Marcus Sasser (illness) is listed as questionable ahead of Monday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Sasser sat out of their last game due to the same reason, so this could be a game-time decision. Fellow guard Cade Cunningham (knee) is also on the injury report ahead of Monday's game. If they both sit, Malachi Flynn could move into the starting five and play significant minutes. Also, Evan Fournier could see an expanded role off the bench.

Marcus Sasser Unavailable Friday

Due to illness, Detroit Pistons guard Marcus Sasser (illness) has been ruled out ahead of their Friday night matchup against the Washington Wizards. The rookie hasn't missed any action since March 1st. However, Cade Cunningham (knee) will be in the rotation after being listed as questionable. Jaden Ivey (knee) also carried a questionable tag, but he will be available to help out a thin Pistons backcourt.

Marcus Sasser Ruled Out Again On Friday

Detroit Pistons guard Marcus Sasser (knee) has been ruled out for his fourth consecutive game ahead of their Friday night matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The rookie is dealing with a knee contusion right now and it's been severe enough to hold him out for over a week now. His minutes have been inconsistent already, so the rotation isn't going to see a huge shakeup with him out. So far, Quentin Grimes has been seeing around 20 minutes a night off of the bench while Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey have been taking the lion's share of minutes with the starting five. Sasser's next chance to suit up will be Sunday against the Orlando Magic.

Marcus Sasser Ruled Out Again Versus Knicks

Detroit Pistons guard Marcus Sasser (knee) has been ruled out for their Monday night matchup against the New York Knicks due to a right knee contusion. The rookie combo guard hurt his knee on Thursday during their game against the Indiana Pacers and then was ruled out for their last game on Saturday. He was a late scratch for that one but was ruled out early for Monday, so it's unclear how much time Sasser may have to miss. Sasser's minutes have been inconsistent so far this year as he's ranged from 37 to 9 over the last few weeks. While he's sidelined, however, Quentin Grimes and Malachi Flynn should receive some extra minutes off of the bench with the former being the better streaming option of the two.

Marcus Sasser Drops 40 Points On Sunday

Detroit Pistons guard Marcus Sasser went crazy in the second half on Sunday en route to a 100-85 win over the Indiana Pacers. The rookie out of Houston registered 40 points on 16-for-25 shooting including five triples, five assists, three rebounds, one steal, and one block. Sasser was due for a good game after shooting just 32.6% from the floor and 16.0% from deep in his previous four games. He'll likely have a deeper bench role as the Pistons roll out a good, young guard duo in Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey. Sasser, right now, could be a draft and stash option in dynasty formats.
