NFL Fantasy Week 7 Recap

NFL Fantasy Week 7 Recap

My oh my, between the massive injury list and six teams being on a bye, there were some atrocious lineups in the fantasy football world. We saw massive weeks from elite QBs like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. They both scored 30+ points. We also saw bad weeks from the great QBs like Jared Goff and Justin Herbert, who both scored under 11 points. Gardner Minshew finished the week as QB3 overall. Go look at my X profile if you want to see a cold take for week 7 about Minshew!

D’Onta Foreman surprised us all with a 30+ point week and finished as the RB1. That was cool! Jahmyr Gibbs finally got his shot to be “the guy” and delivered. He was the RB3 this week. There were some disappointing RB scores this week including Josh Jacobs, Austin Ekeler and Aaron Jones. Ekeler got banged up so keep an eye on that.

Jordan Addison finished as the WR1 for week 7, and Minnesota is thanking the football gods for that! We even saw fellow rookie wide receiver, Josh Downs, make a splash and finish top 5 this week. A few disappointing weeks from studs like Keenan Allen, DeVonta Smith, and Marquise Brown who all finished with 10 or fewer points. Christian Watson, Calvin Ridley, and Amari Cooper were almost non-existent this week. I hope that doesn’t become a trend.

It’s good to see the stud Tight Ends finishing at the top again. The order went Kelce, Waller, Andrews, Hockenson, and Goedert. Which is eerily close to their ADPs this offseason. Dalton Kincaid finished top 7 and he should be your waiver target if he is available in your leagues.

Let’s jump into the week 7 action!

Quick Links

Jaguars vs Saints

This one was exciting! The Saints came back in the second half to make this an awesome start to week 7. The Saints were down 24-9 mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Derek Carr does not give up, though! They had a chance at the end to tie it up and came up short. Carr and his 300 passing yards weren’t enough to get it done. Carr scored 17.4 points this week. Alvin Kamara was the Saints high-scorer with 29 points. 12 of those points were catches. That’s nuts. The rest of it was 62 rushing yards and 91 receiving yards. Kamara is a fantasy cheat code! Taysom Hill snuck in the top-scorers with 16.8 points. 4 catches for 50 yards and a rushing TD for Hill. Michael Thomas made some noise, catching a TD and scoring 13.2 points. Chris Olave didn’t completely screw your lineup this week, but only having 12.7 kind of stinks!

The Jaguars, while it has been a rocky start, are now 5-2 and first in the AFC South. Securing yet another W led by none other than Travis Etienne Jr. himself. 22.7 fantasy points on 53 rushing yards and 2 TDs. He also added in 3 catches for 24 yards. He is sitting at RB3 overall this season. Love to see it! Christian Kirk had yet another solid week. Kirk scored 19 points off of 6 receptions for 90 yards and a TD. Trevor Lawrence despite dealing with the knee put up 18 points which is a decent weekly score. Evan Engram continued his success in the TE world, targeted 7 times yet again, and caught 5 of them for 45 yards (9.5 points). Jacksonville is being slept on if you ask me! Calvin Ridley posted a dud this week, scoring a measly 1.5 points. Hate to see that, love to see Jacksonville thriving!

Bears vs Raiders

This might’ve been the least-watched NFL game this week. Brian Hoyer vs Tyson Bagent. No, this is not a preseason game. This one counted. The Raiders really struggled to get things going. Hoyer struggled, only throwing for 129 yards and no TDs. Also added 2 interceptions. Not a good fantasy week for the veteran backup (1.16 points). Jakobi Meyers was the team-high score with 18 points. He caught 7 passes for 50 yards and a TD from Aidan O’Connell. Davante Adams sort of disappeared after the first quarter. Probably more so due to the QB play, but he only managed to score 12.7 points but he did drop a TD pass. 7 catches for 57 yards from Adams. Zamir White outscored Josh Jacobs and that is where this recap is going to stop. Because it only gets worse. 35 rushing yards and a catch for Jacobs this week.

The Bears were rollin’! Largely due to D’Onta Foreman putting up over 100 yards from scrimmage and 3 TDs. Foreman put up an impressive 33-point week. Many streamers were ecstatic about that one! D.J. Moore managed to escape week 7 with 13.4 points but he did drop a TD pass which would have put him in the 20+ point category. Damn shame. Tyson Bagent, who played in place of Justin Fields, scored 12.7 points on 162 passing yards and a TD. He also ran the ball for 24 yards. The Bears defense scored 18 fantasy points this week, which was second on the team. Can’t forget Cole Kmet and his goose egg! Hate to see that… This was a much-needed win for the Bears. Maybe not in terms of draft position, but for team morale at minimum.

Colts vs Browns

I don’t know what I was expecting from this game, but a 39-38 thriller was not on the list. I thought for sure the Browns would dominate Gardner Minshew but that was not the case. I also thought Deshaun Watson would be playing. He got hit hard early on in the game and had to be checked for a concussion. He was cleared but the team chose to roll with P.J. Walker instead. Something to keep an eye on for sure. The story of the day has to be Dustin Hopkins and his 22 points. He made 3 field goals from 50+ yards.

P.J. Walker came in and threw for 178 yards (5.42 points). Jerome Ford was the high scorer for the Browns with 17.4 points. He ran for 74 yards, caught 2 passes for 20 yards, and had a TD. Kareem Hunt slid in with another solid game. His 2 touchdowns led the way but he had 31 rushing yards as well. Hunt scored 15 points this week. David Njoku reached 10 points on 5 catches for 54 yards. Amari Cooper got shut down (4.2 points) and Elijah Moore had 9.9 points on 4 catches for 59 yards.

The funny part is the Colts had more players fantasy-relevant than the Browns despite losing. Gardner Minshew led the team in fantasy points with 27. He had 300 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, and 2 rushing TDs. Minshew mania is back! I’m really enjoying this Josh Downs breakout party. Downs scored 23.5 points this week on 5 catches for 125 yards and a TD. I have many shares of him in dynasty so this is great! You know what else is great? Jonathan Taylor looking like his old self. JT ran for 75 yards and a TD with 3 catches for 45 yards. 21 fantasy points for JT! Michael Pittman Jr. saved his day by hauling in 2 catches for 83 yards and a TD. The touchdown was for 75 yards. Love it!

Bills vs Patriots

New England must’ve drank some of Michael Jordan’s special juice because that’s the only way to explain them winning this game. Mac Jones certainly looked like a composed quarterback again. He threw for 272 yards and 2 TDs, good for 19.98 points and their leading scorer. Kendrick Bourne put together a solid performance, hauling in 6 catches for 63 yards and a TD. He had 16.3 points this week. That makes it two straight weeks of 16+ points for Bourne. Rhamondre Stevenson also has nice back-to-back scores. He had 14.5 this week from 85 scrimmage yards and 6 catches. He will find the endzone again soon! If you happen to play their kicker, Chad Ryland, he got you a solid 12 points. Hell of a victory for the Patriots this week!

The Bills are looking a little questionable. Losing to the 1-5 Patriots is not a good look. I think most would agree there. Josh Allen played fine if you ask me. Sure, he had the interception on the first offensive play for them, but he fought back. 265 yards, 2 TDs, and a pick with one rushing TD. Allen scored 24.3 points this week. James Cook, who is RB14 overall currently, had another solid week. He scored 19.2 points on 56 rush yards, 3 catches for 46 yards and a TD. Cook is silencing many haters right now! Stefon Diggs is an escape artist. If you didn’t see his touchdown from this week, go search it on Twitter (X). He had 17.8 points this week from 6 catches for 58 yards and a TD. We also got a nice little surprise from rookie tight end, Dalton Kincaid, who caught 8 passes for 75 yards this week (15.5 pts). Tough loss for the Bills, but I’m not counting them out by any means.

Giants vs Commanders

First of all, this was a tough one to watch. Second, are the Giants better without Daniel Jones? The G-men went up 14-0 in the 2nd quarter but never sniffed the endzone again. The Commanders only had one touchdown and it came from Brian Robinson. Who saved his day by scoring that touchdown (barely). To be honest, if the Giants didn’t muff a punt, the Commanders may not have seen the red zone this game. Their leading scorer was Terry McLaurin, who had 15 points. He caught 6 passes for 90 yards. After him, it’s pretty rough. Sam Howell had 9.4 points, Jahan Dotson had 9.3, Logan Thomas had 9.1, and Brian Robinson’s TD run saved him, getting him to 8.3 points. Rough, rough outing for the Commanders players.

The Giants got the win here, but it wasn’t pretty. What was pretty was Darren Waller’s 22.8 points. Tyrod is FEEDING Waller. He caught 7 passes for 98 yards and a TD. Tyrod somehow put together a 21.6-point performance. 279 yards passing, 2 TDs, and 25 rushing yards. If you happened to be starting him, rejoice! Saquon had another above-average week. He ran for 77 yards and caught 3 passes for 41 yards and one of them was a TD. Jalin Hyett was targeted a handful of times but was only able to connect on 2 passes for 75 yards. Wan’Dale Robinson, who scored 14 last week, barely hit 3 points on 2 targets this week. What’re we doing, New York? Better luck next week, Giants.

Buccaneers vs Falcons

I know one thing is for sure, Bijan Robinson managers are extremely frustrated with the usage. I believe he had one carry in the entire game. Bijan Robinson. The running back that was selected in the first round of the NFL draft. What is Atlanta doing? I digress… The Bucs came out hot. In the first quarter, they were moving the ball and Baker Mayfield connected with Mike Evans on a deep ball. Mike Evans scored 202. points this week on 6 catches for 82 yards and a TD. Baked had 275 passing yards and the TD. He also had 32 rushing yards and an interception. Rachaad White put together a respectable week. He had 15.9 points on 34 rushing yards and 6 catches for 65 yards. Chris Godwin was able to catch 6 passes for 66 yards (12.6 pts).

As for Atlanta, they might’ve won, but it was not pretty. Bijan was missing from the offense, they leaned on Tyler Allgeier yet again as he scored 14 points. He had 59 rushing yards and 3 catches for 53 yards. Ridder had 250 passing yards, 38 rush yards, and a rushing TD giving him 13.8 points this week. Drake London was able to scrap together another double-digit week, plus he got screwed out of a long, long play by the refs calling him out of bounds when he was not. 11.4 points for London. Kyle Pitts managed to score 7 this week but it’s pretty gross after him. Not a great week to be a Falcon in fantasy football not named Younghoe Koo (13 pts & game-winning FG) or Tyler Allgeier. Better luck next week!

Lions vs Ravens

Well, if you are a Lions fan, this week was rather humbling. I don’t mean that to sound crass, but sometimes a game like this is good for a team. Plus, Montgomery was out and he had been leading their backfield thus far. On the plus side, there were a couple of fantasy-relevant players for the Lions this week. Including none other than Jahmyr Gibbs himself. Yep, you read that right! Gibbs scored 27.6 points this week! 68 rush yards, 58 receiving yards on 9 catches, and a TD. What we have all been waiting for. Then of course you have Amon-Ra St. Brown scoring 23.2 points right behind Gibbs. St. Brown caught 13 passes for 102 yards. No touchdown this week, but his time will come. Sam LaPorta came in third for points. He had 11.2 points on 6 catches for 52 yards. Solid day for a tight end. Tough day for the Lions as a whole.

The Ravens were practically unstoppable. It was 35-0 at one point. Lamar Jackson was playing lights out. 357 passing yards and 3 TDs ON TOP of 36 rushing yards and a rushing TD. Lamar scored 33 points this week and is the QB1 this week by .02 points. I thought that was a fun fact to add. Mark Andrews, on National Tight End Day, made some noise. Andrews caught 4 passes for 63 yards and 2 TDs (22.3 points). We even had a solid outing from Gus Edwards who I of course benched this week. Don’t worry, I played D’Onta Foreman in his place. Gus Bus scored 21.4 points this week. He had a huge catch-and-run play in the second half. Also tacked on 64 rush yards with a TD on the ground. Zay Flowers wound up with 11.5 and the Ravens essentially had a perfect game.

Rams vs Steelers

I don’t care what you said, Puka Nacua is a cheat code. The Rams may have lost, but Puka Nacua keeps on doing more and more impressive things week by week. This week, he scored 23.4 points and 8 of them were catches. He had 154 yards on top of that! Imagine if he found pay dirt…could’ve been a massive day. Matthew Stafford was the next highest score with 14 points. Stafford threw for 232 yards and a TD as well as an interception. No one really knew what running back would do well going into this week but turns out Darrell Henderson straight off the couch was the guy. At least, from a fantasy perspective. Henderson scored 13.6 points from 61 rushing yards and a TD. He is a must-add going forward. If you are a Cooper Kupp manager, this week was not your week. Kupp only had 6.9 points thanks to Puka getting all the work.

The Steelers shocked many by winning this one. It was super tough but that coaching staff in Pittsburgh knows how to scrap and get wins. Leading the way was Najee Harris. He scored 15.8 points this week, which was a season-high for Najee. 53 rushing yards, a few catches, and a touchdown. Happy to see him in the endzone finally! Not far behind him in points was George Pickens with 15.7 points. Pickens did not find the endzone this week but he had 5 catches for 107 yards. Solid day for the sophomore receiver. Not far behind him was Kenny Pickett with 15.2 points. Kenny P had 230 passing yards and a rushing TD. Nothing sexy, but he got the job done and they won. Jaylen Warren found the endzone this week, which got him to 10 points. If you are like me and have lineups struggling, he contributed 10 points for you this week. Woohoo! Great win for the Steelers, let’s keep it rollin’!

Cardinals vs Seahawks

This one was a tough watch. It felt like no matter what the Cardinals did, they could not get things going. Joshua Dobbs finished with 146 passing yards, 43 rushing yards, and a rushing TD. That touchdown was the only one the Cardinals scored on Sunday. That gave Dobbs 16.14 points and it was the team high. After him, the next high score was Emari Demercado with 11.5 points. It seems as though the Cardinals may turn towards Demercado while James Conner is on IR. This week Demercado had 13 rushes for 58 yards and added on 4 catches and 17 yards. Next week they have the Ravens who have a solid defense, so it might not be as good of a week for Demercado. Something to keep an eye on. Tough week for Marquise Brown as he only logged 3 catches for 49 yards. On to next week, Arizona!

Seattle left week 7 victorious, but it was not the prettiest win. However, a win is a win! The long-awaited Jaxon Smith-Njigba breakout appeared right before our very eyes. Most likely had a lot to do with D.K. Metcalf being out for the game, but who cares! JSN led the Seahawks in fantasy points with 16.3 points. He logged 4 catches for 63 yards and a TD. Love to see it! We even got to see Jake Bobo have a breakout game. He is also a rookie receiver they snagged in the later rounds. He finished with 16.1 points and caught what many are saying is a candidate for the catch of the year! 4 catches for 61 yards and that TD for Bobo this week. Hell of a day. Geno Smith didn’t have an amazing game, only scoring 13 points. He had 219 passing yards and 2 TDs but he also tacked on a pick and a fumble. Kenneth Walker had a TD streak going, but it ended this week. He had 105 rushing yards and a couple of catches so he’s still putting in that work! Solid win for the Seahawks this week.

Packers vs Broncos

I’ll tell you what. The Packers have a lot to figure out. Jordan Love has looked nothing short of below average the past couple of games and they’re struggling to get anything going in the first half of their games. They didn’t put any points on the board until the 10-minute mark of the third quarter. That’s simply not going to get you anywhere you want to be. Jordan Love led the way for the Packers with 15 points. He had 180 passing yards and 2 TDs as well as an interception. The next three scorers each had 11 points. AJ Dillon scored 11, Jayden Reed scored 11 and Romeo Doubs had 11. Aaron Jones returned from injury but wasn’t very efficient. 35 rush yards and 3 catches for 22 yards (8.7 pts). Christian Watson and Luke Musgrave also posted bad scores this week. Tough week to have Packers in your lineup.

At least Courtland Sutton managers are smiling! Sutton had a big week scoring nearly 20 points. He caught 6 passes for 76 yards and a TD. He is quietly having a solid season, his best PPG since his breakout season a few years back. I’m happy for him! He led the Broncos in fantasy points this week. Russell Wilson had the next-highest score. He had 13.86 points this week from 194 passing yards and a TD. Not a great week, but it was enough to get the win. Javonte Williams had his best score of the season thus far. He had 12.6 off of 82 rush yards and 3 catches for 14 yards. Makes me wonder if we will see him start to progress as the knee gets stronger and stronger. Jerry Jeudy came in next with 11.4 points. Jeudy caught 5 passes for 64 yards. Not much production from either side in this one, but the Broncos escaped week 7 with a victory.

Chargers vs Chiefs

The Chargers aren’t off to a hot start. 2-4 after losing to the Chiefs this week. It doesn’t help that their playmakers aren’t, well, making plays. When Joshua Palmer is the leading scorer, you wonder what Ekeler and Keenan Allen were doing wrong. Palmer had 18.3 points and led the team in receiving. He caught 5 passes for 133 yards. Next up, the man everyone dropped two weeks ago, Joshua Kelley. He only does well when Austin Ekeler is playing, apparently. Kelley had 13.5 points this week. Gerald Everett got in the action, catching Herbert’s lone touchdown pass. Everett had 3 catches for 26 yards and the TD (11.6 pts). Justin Herbert wound up with 259 passing yards, a TD and 2 INTs. Only 10.86 points for him. You know the Chargers struggled when Keenan & Ekeler scored 15 points combined. Maybe next week???

The Chiefs are strolling into week 8 sitting at 6-1. That would be thanks to Travis Kelce and his monster day, and Patrick Mahomes, of course. Kelce caught 12 passes for 179 yards and a TD. This was good for 35.9 points and easily the TE1 on the week. Mahomes also had a massive fantasy performance. 33.86 points for him. 454 passing yards and 4 TDs for Mr. Mahomes. The leading twice receiver was Marquez Valdes-Scantling this week. Congrats if you picked it correctly! He had 17.4 points on 3 catches for 84 yards and a score. Luckily, the wealth was being spread because Rashee Rice also did well. With 5 catches, 60 yards, and a TD, Rashee put up 17 points this week. And last but not least is Isiah Pacheco and his 16 points. He had 32 rush yards, 4 catches for 28 yards and a TD. Another good win for the Chiefs.

Dolphins vs Eagles

This was an awesome matchup. Two of the most-hyped offenses going up against one another. The Eagles got the best of my Dolphins in this one. Tyreek did his thing though. 25.8 fantasy points off of 11 catches for 88 yards and a TD. Love to see he still puts up numbers in a loss. Jaylen Waddle was the next high-scorer for the Phins. He had 12.3 points. He left the game with what I have heard were back spasms but he returned in the second half. Waddle hauled in 6 catches for 63 yards. Tua Tagovailoa had a quieter night. Only 10.34 points and that was due to the offense not scoring much. 1 touchdown and 1 interception with 216 yards. Super “meh’ night for Tua. He’ll bounce back! Raheem Mostert did not go off like we have been used to. Only 6.8 points for him this week. I miss De’Von Achane…

The Eagles’ players had much better nights. A.J. Brown continued his dominance streak, logging 39.7 points. He caught 10 passes for 137 yards and a TD. This man is unstoppable. That’s now 6 games of 125+ receiving yards. Jalen Hurts put together a solid performance reaching 23.25 points. He threw for 279 yards, 2 TDs, and even had another tush push goal line touchdown. Let me tell you something. You don’t know the feeling of hating the tush push until it personally affects you. I HATE how efficient they are at it. Miami was unable to guard Dallas Goedert this week. Dallas finished with 18.7 points on 5 catches for 77 yards and a TD. Miami stinks at guarding tight ends. D’Andre Swift reached double digits, with 10.5, but you obviously were used to many more points from him the past 5 weeks. DeVotna Smith struggled to get much going, as he finished with 8.9 points on 4 catches for 49 yards.

Vikings vs 49ers

This game had a weird start. First, you had the broadcast crew talking about Kirk Cousins and his primetime record being horrible, followed by Kirk Cousins throwing an interception. Then, as the 49ers are moving the ball, CMC fumbles and the Vikings get it back and go down and score. Just a wacky, fun start to the game. Keeping bettors on the toes for the first touchdown scorer! The 49ers just couldn’t get the ball rolling as much as we are used to seeing. McCaffrey did just fine, he had 22.6 points. 45 rushing yards, 51 receiving yards, and 2 TDs, one in the air and one on the ground. It was National Tight End Day this weekend so of course Kittle had to score double digits. He finished with 13 points from 5 catches for 78 yards. Brock Purdy had a down week, only scoring 12.78 points this week. He has been on the struggle bus lately. 272 passing yards, a TD, and 2 picks for Brock. Brandon Aiyuk caught 5 passes for 57 yards but no endzone strike for him this week. The 49ers have now suffered two losses in a row.

How about Primetime Kirk?! He is now 3-10 in Monday Night games! Yikes. I’m just surprised they pulled this off without Justin Jefferson on offense. Luckily, they drafted Jordan Addison this year. Addison had a massive week on MNF! He scored 31.3 points! 7 catches for 123 yards and TWO touchdowns. You love to see it. Kirk Cousins had a solid game as well. 21 points from him from his 378 passing yards and 2 TDs. He threw that interception early but he locked in after that. 35 of 45 passing attempts is dialed in that’s for sure! T.J. Hockenson got the memo about National Tight End Day as well, he scored 19 points and had 11 catches for 86 yards. I was hoping he would find the endzone. Cam Akers and Alexander Mattison appear to be sharing the carries, so good luck managing that if you are one of their managers! Great win for the Vikings!
