Houston Texans tight end Antony Auclair caught a touchdown pass in a loss to the Patriots Sunday. Auclair had seen just one target all season coming into the contest but made his second one of the season count, connecting with quarterback Davis Mills on a red-zone score. Auclair will be impossible to trust for fantasy purposes given his lack of playing time- and the Texans already-maddening tight end situation.
The Houston Texans signed free-agent tight end Antony Auclair to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday. Auclair appeared in eight games (two starts) for the Super Bowl-champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year, mostly serving as a blocking tight end. He played behind names such as Rob Gronkowski, Cameron Brate and Tanner Hudson and was targeted just once all year as a result. O.J. Howard is also set to return in 2021, so the Bucs had no real need for another tight end. The Canadian tight end has played in 32 career games (18 starts) and has caught 10 passes for 84 yards since he entered the league in 2017. Auclair spent time on Injured Reserve last year but returned to the team in October. He joins a crowded Houston roster at tight end with Jordan Akins, Pharaoh Brown, Kahale Warring, Ryan Izzo and Paul Quessenberry.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed tight end Antony Auclair (toe) on the Injured Reserve on Tuesday after he was injured in the Week 9 overtime loss to the Seahawks. The Bucs signed linebacker Sam Acho in a corresponding move. Mainly a blocker, Auclair had his first catch of the season last Sunday and wasn't on the fantasy radar. But both he and Tanner Hudson played notable snaps over Cameron Brate in Week 9 with O.J. Howard (hamstring) missing his second straight game. Howard is expected to return this weekend against the Cardinals, but until Tampa starts utilizing their pass-catching tight ends seriously, it's hard to trust them as anything more than desperation TE2s.
