Ka'imi Fairbairn One of the NFL's Best Kickers Heading into His 10th Season

Houston Texans kicker Kai'imi Fairbairn has become one of the most trustworthy kickers in fantasy football, and the Texans rewarded him this offseason with a two-year, $13 million extension to make him the highest-paid kicker in the league. In his ninth year in the NFL in 2025, the 32-year-old veteran made a career- and league-high 44 of his 48 field-goal attempts, including nine of his 13 tries from 50-plus yards, and all 28 of his extra-point tries in 15 regular-season games. His 44 field goals made tied David Akers' record in 2011 for most field goals made in a single season. Fairbairn has made 87.6% of his 291 career field-goal attempts since entering the league in 2017 as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA. Not only does Fairbairn have a strong and accurate leg, but at least half of his games are indoors in Houston. Fairbairn finished as the No. 2 fantasy kicker last year, behind only the Seahawks' Jason Myers. Going into fantasy drafts this fall, Fairbairn should absolutely be considered a top-five option at the kicking position.

Dalton Schultz  • TE  •  Texans

Dalton Schultz's Upside Remains Limited Despite Resurgent 2025 Production

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz re-established himself as a viable PPR streamer in 2025, finishing the year with 82 receptions for 777 yards and three touchdowns on 106 targets across 17 games. Schultz's 106 targets represented a career high, and he averaged nearly two more catches per game in 2025 than he did in 2024. However, Schultz averaged fewer than 10 yards per reception in 2025 and has never averaged more than 7.8 yards per target in any of his eight NFL seasons. The 29-year-old's production in 2025 was also buoyed by the absence of fellow Texans tight end Cade Stover, who missed eight games with a foot injury. While Schultz should still be Houston's lead pass-catching tight end in 2026, a fully healthy season from Stover could lead to an incremental decline in targets for Schultz. Given Schultz's lack of explosiveness, he is heavily reliant on target volume for fantasy production. Schultz's stable production floor gives him some value as a depth option for fantasy managers, but his upside remains limited heading into 2026.

Tank Dell  • WR  •  Texans

Can Tank Dell Re-Establish His Career Coming Off His Serious Injury?

A third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (knee) recorded 98 receptions for 1,376 yards and 10 touchdowns on 156 targets across the first 25 games of his career in 2023 and 2024. However, the 26-year-old suffered a gruesome knee injury in Week 16 of the 2024 season, dislocating his left kneecap while also tearing his ACL, MCL, LCL, and suffering meniscus damage. Dell's injury forced him to miss the entire 2025 campaign. Dell should have a chance to return to the field in 2026 and re-establish his career. However, he's now likely firmly behind both Nico Collins and Jayden Higgins on the Texans' wide receiver depth chart, which leaves him battling Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson for WR3 duties in Houston. Even if Dell can reclaim a prominent role in his team's passing game, the devastating nature of his injury creates obvious question marks around his ability to produce. Dell still carries fantasy upside, but his dynasty profile is riddled with risk.

Jayden Higgins  • WR  •  Texans

Jayden Higgins Faces Obstacles in Second Season

Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins was the fifth receiver selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, and while he showed flashes in his rookie season, he was never able to consistently string together the games needed to make him a reliable weekly fantasy starter, finishing 13th among all first-year pass catchers with 41 receptions. Heading into his second season, the Texans are expecting the return of one of C.J. Stroud's favorite targets in Tank Dell, who missed all of the 2025 season following a devastating knee injury at the close of the 2024 season. Additionally, Stroud himself has fallen under scrutiny following a lackluster season punctuated by the worst game of his career in a Divisional Round loss to the Patriots. With Nico Collins all but locked into his role on the boundary, Higgins and Dell will likely compete for time in two-receiver sets in an offense that will need to improve drastically in order to support multiple pass catchers. On pure potential, Higgins might have the second-highest ceiling in the Texans' receiver room, but in order to reach it in 2026, he'll need to clear some significant obstacles.

Woody Marks  • RB  •  Texans

Woody Marks to Serve as Backup in Sophomore Season?

Houston Texans running back Woody Marks led the team with 703 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 196 rushing attempts in 16 regular-season games in his first year in the NFL, with Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) missing the entire season. Overall for Houston, though, it was a lackluster rushing attack with Marks and veteran Nick Chubb, as the team ranked 22nd in rushing yards per game (108). Mixon and Chubb won't return in 2026, and the Texans acquired David Montgomery from the Detroit Lions this offseason to help bolster their ground game. ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime writes that Montgomery "will enter the 2026 season as the No. 1 back for Houston." It's bad news for the 25-year-old Marks' redraft and dynasty value heading into his sophomore campaign. The former fourth-rounder out of USC averaged 3.6 yards per carry last year and caught 24 of his 36 targets for 208 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Marks will still be involved in the Texans' backfield, but as long as Monty is healthy, he'll be more of a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex on a weekly basis.

C.J. Stroud  • QB  •  Texans

Will C.J. Stroud Ever Rediscover his Rookie-Season Magic?

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was taken second overall out of Ohio State in 2023 and immediately delivered for Houston, throwing for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only five interceptions in 15 games in his first year in the NFL to win Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Stroud has regressed the last two seasons, though, and he had only 3,041 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 14 regular-season starts in 2025. The good news was that the 24-year-old took only 23 sacks after being sacked 52 times in 2024. Everything fell apart in two games in the playoffs for Stroud, as he turned the ball over seven times in games against the Steelers and Patriots. The Texans are adamant that Stroud is their QB despite trade rumors this offseason, and he'll be in his second season with offensive coordinator Nick Caley. Stroud has enough weapons around him to recover from the last two disappointing seasons, but fantasy managers will want to keep him in the QB2 tier with upside when drafting this fall.

Nico Collins  • WR  •  Texans

Nico Collins Has Yet to Reach His Full Potential

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has emerged as a low-end WR1 in fantasy football, but he still continues to fall a little short of his true ceiling. Collins has played five NFL seasons so far, and he has yet to play all 17 games in a single campaign. Injuries limited him to 15 contests in 2025, resulting in a final stat line of 71 catches, 1,117 yards, and six touchdowns. These numbers were good enough to rank as the overall WR8, giving him a top-12 receiver finish for the second time in three years. Collins has missed an average of 3.8 games per season, which is valuable playing time that could have otherwise been used to accumulate fantasy points. His fantasy output itself is impressive given the inconsistency we saw from quarterback C.J. Stroud in 2025, but managers would now like to see Collins stay healthy for a full season so that he doesn't force them to find a replacement option at random points throughout the season.

Wyatt Teller  • G  •  Texans

Texans Agree on Two-Year Deal With Wyatt Teller

The Houston Texans agreed to terms on an undisclosed two-year deal with three-time Pro Bowl offensive guard Wyatt Teller on Tuesday, sources told Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network. The Texans continue to improve their offensive line this offseason after it was a liability in 2025. The 31-year-old Teller was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Cleveland Browns in three straight seasons from 2021 to 2023. He was originally drafted out of Virginia Tech in 2018 in the fifth round by the Buffalo Bills. Teller spent just one season in Buffalo and has been with Cleveland for the last seven years. In his eight years in the NFL, he has started 101 of the 109 games that he's appeared in. Teller will be expected to fortify the right side of Houston's offense line in 2026 at right guard.

Jaylin Noel  • WR  •  Texans

Jaylin Noel's Dynasty Value on the Rise, Could be WR3 in 2026

Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel's production didn't jump off the page in his first year in the NFL in 2025, but he was versatile for the Texans and should enter Year 2 with a bigger role on offense. The 23-year-old third-round pick last year out of Iowa State mostly operated as Houston's No. 5 wideout and finished with 26 receptions on 35 targets for 292 yards and two touchdowns in 17 regular-season games (three starts). He also carried the ball six times for 12 yards. On special teams, Noel returned 29 kickoffs for 799 yards and 31 punts for 335 yards. His dynasty value in fantasy football leagues is on the rise as he gets ready for his second season in the NFL, and Noel should have a bigger role in the passing attack with Christian Kirk leaving in free agency. How big a role Noel has could be directly affected by whether Tank Dell (knee) makes a successful recovery from a career-threatening knee injury he suffered in 2024. With Dell likely being eased back into the fold, Noel could be the Texans' No. 3 pass-catcher behind Nico Collins and Jayden Higgins.

David Montgomery  • RB  •  Texans

David Montgomery Has Contract Updated by Texans

Running back David Montgomery, recently acquired via trade by the Houston Texans, has had his contract upgraded by the team, with the two-year deal now worth up to $16.5 million. The revised contract, which features a $6.5 million signing bonus and heavy per-game active roster bonuses, signals that the Texans view him as their clear starter following a season in which rookie Woody Marks led the team in carries, but no back topped 200 attempts or more than 13 carries per game. Playing in a supporting role to Pro-Bowler Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit, Montgomery has also failed to reach the 200-carry mark in either of the past two seasons, giving him relatively fresh legs as he prepares for his age-29 campaign.

Christian Kirk  • WR  •  Texans

Christian Kirk's Dynasty Value is Fading Heading into 2026

Free agent wide receiver Christian Kirk is coming off the least productive season of his career in 2025, as he hauled in 28 receptions for 239 yards and a touchdown on 52 targets across 13 games with the Houston Texans. The 29-year-old was able to provide impressive production in the postseason, recording 10 catches for 164 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets across two contests. Still, Kirk has now recorded just two combined touchdown grabs over the past two regular seasons and has logged back-to-back years with fewer than 30 receptions. He's also had his struggles staying on the field in recent years, missing 18 games over the past three seasons. While Kirk should eventually find a home for 2026, it seems unlikely that he will be counted on to play a significant role in any team's passing game as he enters his age-30 season. Kirk's fantasy value in dynasty formats is fading after his production decline in 2025.

Foster Moreau  • TE  •  Texans

Texans Sign Foster Moreau to Add to Tight End Room

The Houston Texans signed former New Orleans Saints tight end Foster Moreau to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday, a source told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Moreau will move to the AFC South after spending the last three seasons in the Big Easy. The 28-year-old former fourth-round pick by the Raiders in 2019 out of LSU caught 60 of his 78 targets for 665 yards and six touchdowns in 43 games (36 starts) in his three years with the Saints. Moreau only played in 11 games in 2025, though, due to an ankle injury. He finished with a career-low seven grabs on 10 targets for 59 yards and no touchdowns. At best, Moreau will serve as the No. 2 tight end in Houston in 2026 behind starter Dalton Schultz, who recently signed an extension through the 2027 campaign. Moreau can be safely ignored in single-TE leagues this fall.

David Montgomery  • RB  •  Texans

David Montgomery to Enter 2026 as Houston's No. 1 Back

ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime writes that running back David Montgomery will enter the 2026 season as the "No. 1 back" for the Houston Texans after they acquired him from the Detroit Lions for offensive lineman Juice Scruggs and two draft picks. Montgomery had 2,506 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns in his three seasons with the Lions. The Texans were led last year by fourth-round rookie Woody Marks and veteran Nick Chubb and ranked 22nd in rushing yards per game (108). Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) missed the entire season and is expected to be released soon. Marks led the Texans with 703 rushing yards in his first year in the NFL, but it sounds like he'll take on more of a complementary role going into Year 2. Montgomery was unhappy with his role in Detroit last year behind Jahmyr Gibbs, as he had his fewest carries (158) and touches (182) in a season in his career despite playing in all 17 games. The 28-year-old should see more opportunities in Houston, although Marks won't suddenly go away, and Houston's offensive line was a weakness last year.

Logan Hall  • DL  •  Texans

Logan Hall Joins Texans on Two-Year Deal

Free-agent defensive lineman Logan Hall signed with the Houston Texans on an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, a source told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Hall was drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft out of the University of Houston by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 25-year-old had 101 tackles (53 solo), 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 23 QB hits, four pass breakups, and a forced fumble in 66 games (39 starts) in his four years with Tampa. Hall had a career-high 5.5 sacks in 16 games with the Bucs in 2024. He will not be on the fantasy radar in IDP formats in what should be a rotational role on Houston's defensive line in 2026 behind both Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson. In 17 games last year in his final season with Tampa, Hall had a career-high 39 tackles (18 solo), 1.5 sacks, six QB hits, a pass breakup, and a forced fumble.

Braden Smith  • OT  •  Texans

Braden Smith Signs With Texans on Two-Year Deal

Former Indianapolis Colts offensive tackle Braden Smith is signing with the Houston Texans on Tuesday on a two-year, $25 million deal, sources told Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Smith was drafted in the second round by the Colts in 2018 out of Auburn. The 29-year-old right tackle started 105 of the 107 games he appeared in over his eight seasons with the Colts. Smith has trended down the last two seasons and finished last year on Injured Reserve due to a concussion and neck injury. Still, the Texans are hoping he can be an upgrade at right tackle next season over Trent Brown. Houston's offensive line was a liability last year. Pass protection isn't Smith's specialty, but he should at least be competent as a run-blocker if he can stay healthy in his new digs in Houston.

Texans Sign Ka'imi Fairbairn to Two-Year Deal

The Houston Texans are signing kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn to a two-year, $13 million deal on Tuesday, a league source told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. Fairbairn still had a year left on the three-year, $15.9 million contract he signed with the Texans in March of 2024, but the Texans will extend one of the best kickers in the NFL for another couple of seasons. The 32-year-old veteran led the NFL in both field-goal makes (44) and attempts (48) in 15 regular-season games in 2025, also making all 28 of his extra-point opportunities. He went 9-for-13 on kicks from 50-plus yards out. Fairbairn was second behind only the Seahawks' Jason Myers in overall fantasy points among kickers last year. He has an 87.6% success rate in his career on 291 field-goal attempts over his nine years in the league. Locked in with Houston for another couple of years, Fairbairn will be a high-floor fantasy kicker in 2026.

Ed Ingram  • G  •  Texans

Ed Ingram Agrees to Three-Year Deal With Texans

Standout offensive guard Ed Ingram agreed to terms with the Houston Texans on Monday on a three-year, $37.5 million deal, sources told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Ingram will make $12.5 million per year. The Texans acquired Ingram from the Minnesota Vikings last offseason in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. The 27-year-old offensive lineman had a career year in his first season in Houston while starting all 14 of the regular-season games he appeared in. The Texans still have a lot of work to do to improve their offensive line, but getting Ingram locked down was a big priority before the official start of free agency on Wednesday. Ingram was initially a second-round pick (59th overall) by the Vikings in 2022 out of LSU. He spent the first three years of his career in Minnesota. Ingram has started 55 of the 62 games he's appeared in over his four seasons in the NFL.

Dalton Schultz  • TE  •  Texans

Texans, Dalton Schultz Agree on One-Year Extension

The Houston Texans and tight end Dalton Schultz agreed on a one-year contract extension worth $12.6 million on Friday, sources told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Schultz now has $17.6 million guaranteed in 2026 and 2027. The Texans will reward the 29-year-old after finishing up his third year with the team in 2025. The former fourth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 out of Stanford caught a career-high 82 passes on a career-high 106 targets for 777 yards and three touchdowns in 17 regular-season games last year in his eighth year in the league. Schultz's numbers made him the TE11 in half-PPR scoring in 2025, averaging 8.0 fantasy points per game. He is a trusted weapon over the middle for quarterback Dalton Schultz and should remain a low-end TE1/high-end TE2 target in fantasy football drafts this fall. Schultz has 194 grabs for 1,944 yards and 10 touchdowns in his three years in Houston.
Mar 6
Joe Mixon  • RB  •  Texans

Texans Release Joe Mixon

The Houston Texans released running back Joe Mixon (foot) on Friday, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN. We knew Mixon was expendable, especially after not playing at all last year due to an ankle/foot injury, when the Texans acquired David Montgomery from the Detroit Lions this week. Details on the 29-year-old Mixon's injury last year were sparse, and it's unclear if he'll even be ready for the start of the 2026 campaign this fall. Because of that, Mixon could be greeted with a cold free-agent market upon his release. In fantasy football, the former second-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2017 out of Oklahoma will be hard to gauge until he lands with a new team. The two-time Pro Bowler has five 1,000-rushing seasons in his eight years in the NFL and can do anything on the field when healthy, but his uncertain future and injury status have really cratered his fantasy value this offseason.

Jalen Pitre  • S  •  Texans

Texans Restructure Jalen Pitre's Contract

The Houston Texans restructured nickel cornerback Jalen Pitre's contract on Friday, one year after signing him to a $42.6 million extension, a league source told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. The Texans converted a majority of his $9 million guaranteed base salary into a signing bonus and added two void years to lower his $11.911 million salary cap number for this year. The 26-year-old defensive back was part of one of the best secondaries in football in 2025, and the former second-rounder had 74 tackles (43 solo), four interceptions, and 12 pass breakups in 14 regular-season games for the Texans. Pitre forms a strong combination in the secondary in Houston alongside Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter, and the Texans' defensive unit will be one of the top options off the board in fantasy drafts this fall.
