Nico Collins Shining in Training Camp

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has looked strong at training camp, according to Texans analyst John Harris. During the team's indoor practice on Tuesday, Collins made big play after big play. Collins is coming off three straight 1,000-yard seasons and has averaged 14 half-PPR fantasy points per game since 2023. With players like Jayden Higgins emerging in his second season and Tank Dell returning from injury, volume may become more volatile. He will need to rely more on efficiency and touchdowns in 2026, which will hinge on quarterback C.J. Stroud's performance this season. When healthy and playing well, Collins is a sure-fire WR1 in fantasy, so fantasy managers should consider the sixth-year receiver this season.

Nico Collins Is Still Worth a WR1 Price

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has more help around him now. He is still the receiver this passing game runs through. Collins caught 71 of 120 targets for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games last season, giving him three straight 1,000-yard campaigns. Jayden Higgins is pushing for more after a 41-catch, 525-yard rookie year, and Tank Dell took part in padded practice this week for the first time since his major knee injury. That makes Houston deeper. It does not erase what Collins has already done with C.J. Stroud. He set a career high in targets last season and averaged 15.7 yards per catch. The bigger concern is whether he can stay on the field. Collins has never played more than 15 games, missed one regular-season contest after a concussion last year, then suffered another head injury in the playoffs and sat out the Divisional Round. RotoBaller ranks him WR9 in PPR. The price is not cheap, but it is supported by three years of WR1 production. Higgins and Dell may take some work, but Collins remains the clear first option and should be drafted as a low-end WR1.

Nico Collins Fully Healthy Heading into Training Camp

Houston Texans Pro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collins was limited in organized team activities this spring, but he explained that he wasn't dealing with any injuries, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. "Not at all, not at all. They did that. I listened to the coaches, listened to the GMs, saying yes sir. And they told me to be ready for camp, yes sir," Collins said. The 27-year-old former third-rounder in 2021 out of the University of Michigan has been a Pro Bowler in each of the last two years and has three straight 1,000-yard seasons under his belt, but he has yet to play a full season in his five years in the NFL due to injuries. He missed time last year with head injuries, and he missed five games in 2024 with a hamstring issue. When healthy, he's Houston's clear WR1 for QB C.J. Stroud, and he had 71 catches on 120 targets for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns in 15 regular-season games in 2025. Collins should continue to see a large target volume, but there remain questions about the Texans' offense as a whole, and both second-year wideouts Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel should have bigger roles in 2026. Collins should still be considered a WR1 in fantasy, he's on the lower end in RotoBaller's rankings in Tier 3.

Nico Collins is More Hold Than Buy at WR1 Price

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is not the easiest dynasty player to buy right now, but that does not make him someone to dump at a discount. Collins has cleared 1,000 yards in three straight seasons, including 71 catches for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns across 15 games last year. He is still only 27, still tied to C.J. Stroud, and Houston just bumped up his pay for 2026 and 2027 while keeping him under contract through next season. The price is the tricky part. RotoBaller has Collins as the WR8 in 2026 redraft rankings and WR13 in its July dynasty wide receiver rankings, so managers are already paying for a stable WR1. Tank Dell, Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel, and Dalton Schultz also give Stroud more places to go with the ball. Collins probably is not a screaming dynasty buy unless the price has softened, but he remains a strong hold and a reasonable contender target if his manager is worried about the deeper target tree.

Is Nico Collins the Most Underrated Dynasty WR1?

Since a third-year breakout in 2023, Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has topped 1,000 receiving yards and six touchdowns in each of the past three seasons while twice finishing as a top-five-graded receiver by PFF, and only dropping as low as No. 8 in 2025. As the unquestioned focal point of opposing defenses, Collins has finished as the WR9 in each of his last two full seasons, and with reinforcements coming to the Texans' offense in 2026, his game could take yet another step up. After finishing with one of the least efficient running games in the league, Houston traded for David Montgomery, and with further development expected from second-year wideouts Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, and the potential return of Tank Dell from a devastating 2024 knee injury, Collins could face significantly lower rates of double teams moving forward. At RotoBaller's dynasty WR10, the 27-year-old still has several years of prime play left after a slow start to his NFL career.

Nico Collins Agrees to Contract Adjustment with Texans

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has reached an agreement on an adjustment to his current contract with the team, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter reports that the adjustment will guarantee Collins' salary for the next two seasons and also includes $17 million in cash increases. While Collins was already under contract with Houston, this new agreement should help ensure that fantasy managers do not have to worry about any contract-related disputes that result in Collins holding out. The 27-year-old recorded 71 receptions for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns on 120 targets across 15 games in 2025 and has hauled in 21 touchdown receptions over the past three years with the Texans. As long as Collins stays healthy, he profiles as a low-end fantasy WR1 heading into 2026.

Nico Collins Still in the WR1 Tier for Dynasty Fantasy Football

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins wasn't the flashiest name last season, but he still managed to finish as the WR8 in PPR leagues. That was the best mark of his career, and it was the second time that he finished among the top 12 receivers in the last three years. He had 71 catches, 1,117 yards, and six touchdowns, and he presumably would have ranked even higher if he hadn't missed two games due to injury. Collins managed to produce at a high level despite the inconsistent quarterback play of C.J. Stroud, who had a shaky third season. If Stroud doesn't bounce back in 2026 and beyond, it's encouraging to know that Collins can still be a top-12 receiver with iffy quarterback play. However, if Stroud does have a big year, then Collins has legitimate top-five upside in both redraft and dynasty leagues. He's a firm "hold" for now, and he ranks as RotoBaller's dynasty WR11 at the moment.

Teams Have Checked in on Nico Collins, Trade Remains "Unlikely"

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, several teams have checked in on the status of Houston Texans' top wide receiver Nico Collins. Schultz noted that many teams in the league believe Collins is seeking a contract adjustment, which could open the door to a trade. However, at this time, a trade remains "highly unlikely." Collins has spent his entire NFL career with the Houston Texans since joining them in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Michigan. After a slow start to his career, the wideout turned in a massive Year 3 breakout when he totaled 1,297 yards with a career-best eight touchdowns. In 2025, Collins caught 71 passes, the second-most of his career, for 1,117 yards and six scores. With Houston, Collins figures to remain the focal point of the passing attack and remain a low-end WR1 for fantasy in the upcoming campaign.

Is Nico Collins Still a Dynasty WR1?

After being selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins experienced the rare third-year breakout in 2023, sandwiching two WR9 finishes around a 1,000-yard, seven-touchdown campaign in which he missed five games. Due to the late breakout, the 27-year-old Collins is slowly approaching the age cliff, and following a historic rookie season from C.J. Stroud that had him and Collins pegged as one of the most valuable stacks in dynasty, the quarterback play in Houston has fallen off significantly. Durability has become a concern, with Collins missing nine games over the past three seasons, but when healthy, he is still as impactful as almost any receiver in the game, topping 2.7 yards per route run since 2023 and scoring a touchdown on nearly 10% of his catches. Collins and Stroud can absolutely recapture some of their early career magic, and if they do, it could open a sell window for the 6'4", 215-pound difference-maker. Multiple 1,000+ yard seasons are still on the table for Collins, but his yards after catch have dropped from 6.9 to 5.3 to 4.6 over the past three seasons, and Father Time tends to catch up faster to big-bodied receivers than those who win purely with speed and separation.

Nico Collins Has Yet to Reach His Full Potential

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has emerged as a low-end WR1 in fantasy football, but he still continues to fall a little short of his true ceiling. Collins has played five NFL seasons so far, and he has yet to play all 17 games in a single campaign. Injuries limited him to 15 contests in 2025, resulting in a final stat line of 71 catches, 1,117 yards, and six touchdowns. These numbers were good enough to rank as the overall WR8, giving him a top-12 receiver finish for the second time in three years. Collins has missed an average of 3.8 games per season, which is valuable playing time that could have otherwise been used to accumulate fantasy points. His fantasy output itself is impressive given the inconsistency we saw from quarterback C.J. Stroud in 2025, but managers would now like to see Collins stay healthy for a full season so that he doesn't force them to find a replacement option at random points throughout the season.
