Cade Stover Avoids ACL Damage

Houston Texans tight end Cade Stover's (knee) MRI exam showed no damage to his ACL, a league source told Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Sports. Stover was unable to make much happen after fellow tight end Dalton Schultz (calf) left the Divisional Round loss to the New England Patriots before getting hurt himself in the fourth quarter. The 25-year-old caught one of his three targets for only two yards. The good news is that Stover should be a full-go for training camp in the summer and for Week 1 of the regular season in the fall. In his second year in the league, the former fourth-rounder caught just 12 passes for 76 yards and no touchdowns on 16 targets in nine regular-season games. As long as Schultz is healthy going into the start of the season, Stover won't be fantasy relevant. He had a 15-133-1 line in 15 games in 2024 in his rookie campaign.

Texans Rule Out Cade Stover on Sunday with a Knee Injury

Houston Texans tight end Cade Stover (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's AFC Divisional Round game against the New England Patriots with a knee injury. He suffered a knee injury during the fourth quarter and will not return on Sunday. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, his knee injury appeared significant. Dalton Schultz also exited Sunday's game earlier with a calf issue, and now leaves Harrison Bryant as the only healthy tight end for the Texans. Stover caught one of three targets for two yards before exiting. The 25-year-old will undergo additional tests after the game to determine the severity of the injury. Bryant should see an expanded role with both Schultz and Stover out.

Cade Stover Adds an Interesting Element But Remains Off the Radar

Houston Texans tight end Cade Stover had a new role in Week 13, serving as the team's short-yardage specialist and taking four carries for three yards in addition to catching both of his targets for 16 yards as the team's second tight end. Stover's four carries came on 3rd- or 4th-and-one situations, and he converted two of the four chances for first downs. Three of the carries came in the red zone, and he has the potential to score a short-yardage touchdown in the package if the opportunity arises in the coming weeks. Stover has played three games this season and has six catches for 38 yards, so he's a little involved in the passing game as well. The second-year tight end from Ohio State is only the No. 48 TE in RotoBaller's rankings in Week 14 against the Chiefs, so he can be left on the waiver wire in most formats, but it is interesting that he's getting short-yardage work since it does raise his potential production.

Cade Stover Is Back, But Remains Off the Fantasy Radar

Houston Texans tight end Cade Stover missed nine weeks with a foot injury, returning in Week 11 after originally being placed on IR after Week 1. He caught four of his four targets for 22 yards in the season opener, but he didn't have a target or catch against the Titans. He played 14 snaps (20%) and didn't report any setbacks, so he should be ready for more work in Week 12 against the Bills. He'll continue to back up Dalton Schultz and could eventually eat into his snaps and targets as the season goes on. For now, he's well off the fantasy radar, but it's worth monitoring his involvement, especially after his college teammate QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) is ready to return for the Texans.

Cade Stover Returning From Injured Reserve in Week 11

Houston Texans tight end Cade Stover (foot) was activated from Injured Reserve this weekend and is officially active on Sunday in Week 11 against the division-rival Tennessee Titans. Stover will return for just his second game played this season. The 25-year-old caught all four of his targets for 22 yards in the Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Stover's return will give the Texans another pass-catching option for backup quarterback Davis Mills, but he shouldn't be on anyone's fantasy radar in his first game back. He will continue to operate behind Dalton Schultz as Houston's primary pass-catching option at the tight end position.

Cade Stover Activated from Injured Reserve Heading into Week 11

The Houston Texans have activated tight end Cade Stover (foot) from Injured Reserve heading into their Week 11 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. The team placed tight end Harrison Bryant (neck/shoulder) on Injured Reserve in a corresponding roster move. Stover has been sidelined since suffering a broken foot in Week 1. Across 15 games as a rookie in 2024, Stover recorded 15 catches for 133 yards and a touchdown on 22 targets. While Stover is unlikely to play a fantasy-relevant role himself, his return could threaten the playing time of Texans tight end Dalton Schultz. Schultz has emerged as a consistent feature in the Houston passing game in recent weeks, recording 24 catches for 252 yards and a touchdown on 32 targets over his last four games. Fantasy managers should monitor the playing time split between Schultz and Stover in Week 11.

Cade Stover to Return in Week 11?

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Houston Texans tight end Cade Stover (foot) could be activated from IR as soon as this week. The second-year pro has been shelved since breaking his foot back in Week 1, but he's progressed well and should return to action within the next few weeks. Before Stover went down with an injury, he and teammate Dalton Schultz played a nearly identical snap total. It's unclear if that will be the case once he's back, but the 25-year-old will certainly siphon away some playing time -- and targets -- from Schultz, who has seen greater than a 70% snap share in five of his last seven appearances. Schultz is still a solid fantasy option for the time being, but it's a situation worth keeping an eye on for those relying on him.

Cade Stover Out with a Broken Foot

Houston Texans second-year tight end Cade Stover (foot) broke his foot in Sunday's game against the Rams and will be out indefinitely. On a day where the Texans' passing attack found limited success, Stover led the team with four catches, which he turned into 22 yards. After a quiet rookie season, it's unlikely Stover was rostered in many leagues, and that will unfortunately remain the case after one of the best games of his young career. With Christian Kirk (hamstring) still sidelined, the Texans are in desperate need of secondary options in the passing game to take some of the defensive attention away from Nico Collins. The best bet will be second-round rookie receiver Jayden Higgins, who will look to top his two-catch debut; however, behind a struggling offensive line, the Texans' offense as a whole could continue to look sluggish, making Collins the only reliable weekly starter.

Cade Stover a "Winner" in Texans Training Camp

Houston Texans tight end Cade Stover has received praise from the front office throughout training camp. According to Cole Thompson of the Texas Wire, general manager Nick Caserio mentioned that Stover was the "most improved player of the entire offseason." The 25-year-old joined the Texans in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. During his rookie campaign, Stover had a limited role as he caught just 15 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown. However, during each of the final two games of the season (Week 18 and their Wild Card matchup), Stover logged 36 offensive snaps in each game, which were the highest marks of his debut season. In the playoff game, Stover caught a season-high four passes as well. Stover is a name to continue to monitor as he could surpass Brevin Jordan as the No. 2 tight end behind presumed starter Dalton Schultz.

Cade Stover Suffers Broken Collarbone, Placed On Injured Reserve

Houston Texans rookie tight end Cade Stover (collarbone) suffered a broken collarbone in the wild-card win over the Los Angeles Chargers last Saturday and will require season-ending surgery. The Texans officially placed Stover on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. The 24-year-old first-year player caught all four of his targets for 28 yards in the 32-12 win over the Bolts and played 36 offensive snaps. Stover was mostly a blocker for the Texans in his first year in the NFL and took a back seat pass-catching-wise to starter Dalton Schultz, as he had only 15 catches for 133 yards and one touchdown on 22 targets over 15 regular-season games. If Teagan Quitoriano (calf) isn't activated from IR to play this Saturday in the Divisional Round against the hosting Kansas City Chiefs, Irv Smith Jr. would operate as the primary backup to Schultz.
