The Houston Texans re-signed safety M.J. Stewart to a two-year deal on Thursday with a maximum value of $7.5 million, according to a source. He will receive $1.5 to sign and another $1.5 million guaranteed ($200,000 in per-game roster bonuses). Stewart will make $2.75 million in 2024 with $750,000 in incentives each year. A former second-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018, Stewart served as a backup safety and special teams contributor for Houston in 2022. He finished with 41 tackles (30 solo), a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 17 games (zero starts). The 27-year-old has 141 solo tackles, seven tackles for loss, two interceptions, 13 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his five NFL seasons.
