Texans Acquire Ed Ingram From Vikings

The Houston Texans have made yet another trade involving an offensive lineman, acquiring offensive guard Ed Ingram from the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2026, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. Ingram, a second-rounder (59th overall) by Minnesota in 2022 out of LSU, will get a fresh start in Houston as they look to rebuild their offensive line in front of third-year quarterback C.J. Stroud. The 26-year-old was benched midway through his third season with the Vikings in 2024 and finished with 16 regular-season games played (nine starts). It's a trade that makes sense for both teams, as the Vikings signed both offensive linemen Ryan Kelly and Will Fries in free agency this week, while the Texans traded away left tackle Laremy Tunsil and guard Kenyon Green earlier this week.

Vikings Likely To Move On From Ed Ingram

The Athletic's Alec Lewis writes that the Minnesota Vikings cutting offensive guard Ed Ingram this offseason makes sense if the team is serious about improving their trench play. Ingram struggled in pass protection in 2024 for the third straight season and was benched in Week 11 after being the starting right guard for three seasons. Cutting the former second-rounder in 2022 out of LSU would save the Vikings a minimum of around $3.3 million on the 2025 salary cap. Lewis explains that the move wouldn't be a necessity for the salary cap, as the Vikings already have close to $60 million in cap space this year. The move would essentially be about making the interior offensive line better, especially if the Vikes hand the reigns over to former first-round quarterback J.J. McCarthy in 2025.

Ed Ingram Inks Rookie Deal With Minnesota

Minnesota Vikings guard Ed Ingram signed his rookie deal on Sunday, putting pen to paper on a four-year contract. The former Tiger started 35 games during his time at LSU, lining up at left guard throughout his final two years at the collegiate level. Ingram should start right away in Minnesota, adding to an already talented offensive line while making life easier for Kirk Cousins and company in 2022-23.
