Jaylin Noel Remains Tough to Trust Heading into Playoffs

Houston Texans rookie wide receiver Jaylin Noel showed flashes at times this season, ending with 26 catches for 292 yards and two touchdowns while playing all 17 games. Noel's snap share never climbed above 50% in a game this season, though, and he only cleared 30% in six contests. The rookie third-rounder doesn't project to be a significant piece of Houston's passing game heading into Monday night's Wild-Card matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Noel's role in the offense not expanding, he doesn't profile as a reliable option for fantasy managers in playoff leagues.

Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel Projected for Larger Roles in Week 18

Houston Texans rookie wide receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel are expected to handle increased volume during Sunday's Week 18 contest against the Indianapolis Colts, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2. The Iowa State products will occupy larger roles with Nico Collins (coach's decision) not playing on Sunday. Collins is being sidelined to preserve his health ahead of the playoff stretch. Higgins and Noel have both seen their roles increase throughout this season, leading up to this big opportunity in Week 18. Both receivers scored a touchdown in last week's win over the Los Angeles Chargers. They also combined for nine catches, 97 yards, and a touchdown in the last game that Collins missed. Higgins and Noel both rank as solid WR3/flex options against a Colts defense allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers in 2025.

Jaylin Noel a Dart-Throw Play in Week 18

Houston Texans rookie wide receiver Jaylin Noel caught three of four targets for 54 yards in a Week 17 win over the Chargers, while hauling in his first touchdown since Week 5. The Texans' offense came out of the gates looking unstoppable, as C.J. Stroud connected with both Noel and fellow Iowa State rookie Jayden Higgins on long first-quarter touchdowns. Unfortunately, things stalled after that, and they managed only two field goals the rest of the way, casting into doubt how things will look in a Week 18 divisional matchup with the Colts. Noel's 14% target share on Saturday marked the first time he cracked double digits since Week 8, but against a Colts defense that has struggled to defend the pass, he could be in play as a desperation flex start that is readily available on most waiver wires.

Rookie Jaylin Noel Finding a Role in Houston

Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel caught all four of his targets for a total of 35 yards last week against the Jaguars, but his role this week against the Titans remains uncertain. The rookie had at least four catches in three of his four games since the bye week, and he outperformed veteran Christian Kirk last week, while almost matching Kirk's snap share as well. Noel seems to be pushing his way into an expanded role in the Texans' passing game, but with Davis Mills under center in place of C.J. Stroud (concussion) this week, the game plan will likely be run-focused in Tennessee. Noel is only the WR86 in RotoBaller's Week 11 rankings, but his workload is worth monitoring in deep leagues since he could have potential when Stroud returns.

Jaylin Noel Not a Good Play Against Jacksonville

Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel had a few good weeks while filling in for Christian Kirk, but with Kirk back from his hamstring injury last week, Noel didn't have a catch and lost three yards on his only carry to finish with negative fantasy points. The rookie from Iowa State still has upside, but he's not likely to be involved enough in this week's contest to be relevant for fantasy. With Davis Mills replacing C.J. Stroud (concussion), the offense will likely be more conservative, and Kirk and Nico Collins will do most of the heavy lifting at receiver since they're back from injury. This week, Noel is only the No. 81 WR in RotoBaller's rankings, leaving him well outside of a starter spot in almost all formats.

Jaylin Noel in a Reduced Role?

Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel has been one of the team's busiest receivers in the last two weeks, hauling in nine of 13 targets for a total of 140 receiving yards in his last two contests. The rookie from Iowa State was filling in for Christian Kirk (hamstring) and showed the ability to make plays out of the slot. This week, Kirk is ready to return in a very tough matchup against the Broncos. While Noel will still likely mix in on a decent amount of snaps and brings big-play upside, he is very high-risk since he'll have a smaller snap share. He's RotoBaller's WR76, so even though he has some potential, there are probably better options available in most standard-sized leagues.

Jaylin Noel is Taking Advantage of Wide Receiver Injuries in Houston

Houston Texans rookie wide receiver Jaylin Noel has been a breakout player in recent weeks, recording 11 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown on 16 targets over his last three games played. Noel has benefited from the absence of veteran wide receiver Christian Kirk (hamstring), who has missed Houston's last two contests. If there's reason for concern with Noel, it's that he's yet to crack 45% of his team's offensive snaps this season, even in the games that Kirk has missed. He appears to be limited to working from the slot, which limits his playing time ceiling. Noel is a young player with upside, so he's definitely a name to monitor in deeper fantasy leagues. Still, it may be difficult for him to maintain his production in Week 9 against the Denver Broncos, particularly if one or both of Kirk and Nico Collins (concussion) return to the field.

Jaylin Noel Could Be the Texans' Top Receiver in Week 8

Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel is coming off his best game of the season and has another great opportunity in Week 8 against the 49ers. With Christian Kirk (hamstring) on the sideline on Monday Night Football, Noel had a season-high four catches for 77 yards against the Seahawks. With Nico Collins (concussion) also out this week, the Texans' pass-catchers are extremely unproven, making the rookie Noel potentially the team's top wide receiver. Noel has shown the ability to make plays, and he's in a good matchup since San Francisco has allowed the fourth-most receiving yards and PPR points per target to slot receivers. The rookie from Iowa State could be set up for a true breakout game if he gets a heavy workload, and he is the WR41 in the RotoBaller rankings, putting him on the radar as a deep league option and a desperation flex play this week.

Jaylin Noel Posts Best Totals of the Season on Monday Night

Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel stepped in for Christian Kirk (hamstring) on Monday night in Seattle, and the rookie posted four catches for 77 yards. The 77 receiving yards were the highest total of all of Houston's wide receivers in the game and a new personal best for the third-round pick from Iowa State. He has been getting more work each week, and he should continue to be involved at least while Kirk is out. Kirk missed the first two weeks of the season with a hamstring injury, and he suffered another hamstring injury Friday in practice, but there's no word on how long he'll be out. Noel brings good upside out of the slot if he gets another start against the 49ers in Week 8, and there could be even more targets available if top receiver Nico Collins (concussion) is limited or out after suffering a concussion on Monday.

Jaylin Noel in Line for a Bigger Role?

Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel could be lined up for more work this week when the Texans visit the Seahawks on Monday Night Football. Noel is the most direct replacement for Christian Kirk (hamstring), since both operate primarily out of the slot. Noel played 17 and 15 snaps the first two weeks of the season with Kirk out and worked his way up to 21 snaps in his last game before the Texans' bye. The fact that Kirk was ruled out in the first game after the bye week isn't a good sign for his availability going forward, especially since he also missed the first two games with a hamstring injury. Noel could be a natural replacement, and the third-round pick from Iowa State caught two of three targets for 13 yards and his first NFL touchdown in Week 5 before the bye week against the Ravens. He'll still be a long-shot flex play even with more work available, but he's a rookie to watch going forward if this Texans' offense can build on their 44 points against the Ravens.
