The New York Jets signed free-agent offensive tackle Billy Turner to an undisclosed deal on Monday. Turner was originally a third-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2014 out of North Dakota State. The 31-year-old has played nine seasons in the NFL with three different teams -- the Dolphins, Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos. He played in eight games (seven starts) for Denver last year. Turner has started in 75 of the 91 games he's appeared in in his nine years in the league, and he's expected to serve as tackle depth on the right side of New York's offensive line in 2023 behind Mekhi Becton.
The Denver Broncos placed offensive tackle Billy Turner (knee) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday, so he'll miss at least the next four games. Head coach Nathaniel Hackett said on Monday that Turner was week-to-week after he was injured in the Week 10 loss to the Tennessee Titans. An already bad Broncos offense really can't afford anymore offensive line injuries with Cameron Fleming (quadriceps) also hurt. If Fleming cannot get the green light to play this Sunday against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders, Quinn Bailey could get the start at right tackle. It's more bad news for quarterback Russell Wilson, who has already been sacked 29 times in eight games in 2022.
The Denver Broncos agreed with former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Billy Turner on an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday, according to a source. Turner should fill Denver's right tackle opening for the 2022 season in front of new quarterback Russell Wilson. He spent two-plus seasons with the Broncos from 2016 to 2018 before protecting quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay the last three years. The 30-year-old will reunite with former offensive coordinator and current head coach Nathaniel Hackett. Turner was originally a third-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2014 out of North Dakota State. He made 43 total starts for the Packers over the last three seasons.
Green Bay Packers right guard Billy Turner sustained a knee injury during the teams scrimmage Sunday, which puts his availability for Week 1 against Minnesota in doubt. The ailment is reportedly nothing serious, but Turner will miss time and Lane Taylor is likely to step in. Green Bay has a few of the most tantalizing fantasy players at their respective positions in Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones, whose status shouldnt be overly affected by Turners absence. The Vikings defense may take a slight boost as they already enter the year as one of the leagues more tenacious pass-rushing units.
