Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy will be released on bond on Friday after the female victim involved with Jeudy addressed the court and said she never felt threatened and doesn't feel threatened now. There is a mandatory protection order, but the "no-contact" provision has been dropped. The 23-year-old was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of criminal tampering with a domestic-violence enhancer. There was no physical contact between Jeudy and the woman in question, and he hasn't been formally charged in the investigation. He could still be facing a potential suspension from the league. If Jeudy avoids any type of suspension, he could be in for a breakout in his third NFL season now that Russell Wilson is at quarterback in Denver.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was arrested on Thursday and is "being held at the Arapahoe Co. jail on charges of second-degree criminal tampering with a domestic-violence enhancer, a misdemeanor. He's on a no-bond hold. He's innocent until proven guilty. There is a possibility that the 23-year-old will face a suspension from the NFL in 2022. Due to injury and inconsistent quarterback play, Jeudy had a disappointing second season in the NFL last year, but he'll have a chance to rebound this season now that Russell Wilson will be under center. His after-the-catch abilities could lead to a breakout season, but Denver still has other capable pass-catchers in Courtland Sutton, KJ Hamler and tight end Albert Okwuegbunam. Stay tuned for more information on the specifics of Jeudy's arrest.
Denver Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler wants to play the "Tyler Lockett role" for new quarterback Russell Wilson this year. Hamler played in only three games before tearing his left ACL last year, but he's ahead of schedule in his recovery and has already been running routes and catches passes from Wilson. The second-rounder in 2020 expects to be ready before the regular season, but it remains to be seen if there will be enough targets to go around for Hamler to be fantasy relevant on a weekly basis. The 22-year-old will also be competing with Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick for looks from Wilson. There's a chance that Hamler develops some chemistry with Wilson as a deep threat, but it's unlikely to result in consistent production for fantasy managers.
Denver Broncos running backs Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon III will again split carries in 2022. Last year, Williams and Gordon each finished with 203 carries, with Williams rushing for 903 yards and Gordon rushing for a team-high 918 yards. With quarterback Russell Wilson now in town, the Broncos aren't looking to become a run-first offense. Williams is expected to take slightly more carries this season, but head coach Nathaniel Hackett has promised to keep the RBs busy. Hackett also said that third-stringer Mike Boone will have at least some role in the offense as well. Both Williams and Gordon should remain fantasy relevant, especially with Wilson now under center, but Williams' potential for a huge ceiling evaporated when Denver re-signed Gordon to share the workload.
Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III recently re-signed a deal to return to the team. However, while most believe the veteran will exclusively be the No. 2 option behind Javonte Williams, Broncos general manager George Patton, speaking with Jeff Legwold of ESPN, recently expressed his want to see a timeshare continue. Unquestionably, Patton's desire makes the backfield situation in Denver more complicated, and it also suggests Williams may not have a firm grasp on the No. 1 job after all. Nonetheless, while Williams is still expected to get more snaps than Gordon this season, it isn't good news for the sophomore's fantasy potential.
