Quinn Meinerz Inks Four-Year Extension With Broncos
The Denver Broncos and guard Quinn Meinerz have agreed to terms on a four-year, $80 million contract extension that includes $45 million guaranteed, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com. This new deal keeps Meinerz under contract with the Broncos through 2028. Meinerz has blossomed into quite the success story since being selected out of Wisconsin-;Whitewater in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He finished last season with a stellar 88.7 PFF run blocking grade, which represented a career-best. Going forward, he'll be tasked with blocking for a young offensive core that includes Bo Nix, Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin, and Audric Estime.
Denver Broncos right guard Quinn Meinerz (hamstring) exited their season opener against the Seahawks. He left with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss about four weeks, making him a candidate for the injured reserve list. The 23-year-old was off to a strong start but will likely be replaced by Graham Glasgow. The Broncos O-line only gave up two sacks and did create lanes in the running game. The team will move forward without Quinn as they prepare for their matchup against Houston on Sunday.
The Denver Broncos selected Wisconsin-Whitewater offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz with the No. 98 overall pick in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft on Friday. It was against lesser competition, but Meinerz manhandled his opponents in college. He has incredible leverage and burst off the line of scrimmage and can play anywhere on the interior up front. He's a great athlete at 6-foot-3, 320 pounds and finishes plays strong. Meinerz can get a bit too aggressive in pass protection at times, but he will give the Broncos some solid depth on the offensive line to help protect Drew Lock/Teddy Bridgewater and running backs Melvin Gordon III and Javonte Williams.
