Patrick Surtain II Ruled Out For Thursday

Denver Broncos defensive back Patrick Surtain II (concussion) was ruled out for Thursday's game, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The star cornerback was unable to practice this week due to a concussion and will set his sights on returning in Week 8. As a result, Levi Wallace and Riley Moss should be expected to see the majority of snaps on Thursday night. Saints rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler already faces a tall task as he will be without his top two wideouts, Chris Olave (concussion) and Rashid Shaheed (knee), but could have an easier time without Surtain on the field. Despite this, the Broncos remain a top defensive unit to play this weekend, facing a depleted New Orleans passing attack.

Patrick Surtain II Picks Up A DNP On Tuesday

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (concussion) did not practice on Tuesday. While it is not uncommon for players with a concussion to miss Tuesday's practice, it does not bode well for Surtain's potential to play on Thursday night. Surtain has been a certified lockdown corner in 2024. He has only allowed 109 receiving yards this season and he has allowed zero touchdowns. He has stifled opposing wide receivers in fantasy football. Denver is getting ready to travel to New Orleans to play the Saints on Thursday Night Football. The Saints' wide receiver room is also banged up so if Surtain is unable to play, it would make life much easier on rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler. However, Surtain's potential absence would affect the appeal of the Broncos D/ST as a streaming option in Week 7.

Patrick Surtain II Done For Week 6

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He initially exited early in the first quarter and did not return. At the time of his departure, he had registered one pass defended. Surtain has been dominant so far this year, so his absence is bad news for Denver in this week's divisional battle with the Chargers. Tremon Smith and Levi Wallace should see additional opportunities for the remainder of Week 6 and until Surtain can return to the mix.

Patrick Surtain II Inks Huge Extension

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II has signed a four-year, $96 million extension with $77.5 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The new deal makes Surtain the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history. The two-time Pro Bowl corner saw his contract negotiated by Tory Dandy of CAA. Surtain was the ninth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He was first-team All-Pro in 2022 and has seven interceptions in his three-year NFL career.

Patrick Surtain II Dismisses Trade Rumors

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II has been in trade rumors over the last calendar year, but the 24-year-old said he wants to stay with the organization long-term. The team picked up his fifth-year option a few months ago, which was a no-brainer decision after he made two Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team in his first three NFL campaigns. Through the 24-year-old's first 50 contests, he has compiled 187 tackles, one forced fumble, seven interceptions, and 36 pass deflections. Denver has one of the weakest rosters in the league and is in the middle of the rebuild, so while it wouldn't be shocking if Surtain was on the trade block, it sounds like that is not the case.

Broncos Pick Up Fifth-Year Option On Patrick Surtain II

The Denver Broncos have picked up the fifth-year option on Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Surtain II, meaning he will remain under contract through the 2025 NFL season. Since being selected by Denver with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Alabama, Surtain has earned two trips to the Pro Bowl and one first-team All-Pro honor. In 50 career games, he has racked up 187 tackles (150 solo), one forced fumble, seven interceptions, and 36 pass deflections. The Broncos are in an interesting time for the organization with Sean Payton at the helm, and the roster needs major reinforcements. However, they have their true No. 1 cornerback locked in for at least the next two seasons.

Patrick Surtain II Injuries Knee On Sunday

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (knee) suffered a knee injury during Sunday's game against the Houston Texans and is questionable to return. Surtain went to the medical tent after hurting his knee and was testing out his agility on the sidelines before heading to the locker room. The team should provide another update on the star corner shortly but if he remains out for the rest of the game then the arrow will continue to point up for Houston pass-catchers.

Patrick Surtain II Expected To Play In Week 3

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (shoulder), listed as questionable, is expected to be active for Sunday Night Football versus the San Francisco 49ers, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. He has racked up six tackles though two games this season, though it's worth noting he only played 25 percent of snaps last week. Surtain being active gives a boost to the Denver secondary as they face off against Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers' flashy weapons in the passing game.

Patrick Surtain II's Shoulder Injury Not Serious

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II avoided serious injury to his shoulder in the game against the Houston Texans. Surtain left the contest in the first half and was quickly ruled out, but is now being called "day-to-day." This is fantastic news for the Broncos' secondary that has limited wide receivers through two weeks. The Broncos match up with Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and possibly George Kittle (groin) on Sunday Night Football in Week 3.

Patrick Surtain II Won't Return Against Houston

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (shoulder) won't return for the remainder of the Week 2 matchup versus Houston. The 22-year-old is considered one of the best corners in the league, so fans and IDP managers alike are hoping the injury isn't severe. While the team should have an update within the next day or so, there's a chance he may not be available for the Week 3 meeting against San Francisco.
