Broncos Hoping Jaylen Waddle Makes the Offense More Explosive

The Denver Broncos acquired speedy wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins in the offseason as a playmaking weapon who can create more open space in the middle of the field. Head coach Sean Payton "raved" about Waddle's start-and-stop abilities during the offseason program. He'll give the Broncos a new option at the position who "fits into larger swaths of the offense's route tree." "There's an element of explosiveness that I think, as an offense, we've lacked for a couple years," quarterback Bo Nix said in June. The Broncos still have Courtland Sutton, who has been the team's clear WR1 in recent seasons, but Nix could lean more on Waddle in 2026 as his go-to guy, especially in the intermediate areas of the field. Even though Miami's offense wilted last year in his final year in Miami, the 27-year-old former sixth overall pick in 2021 out of the University of Alabama was 13th in the NFL in yards per route run (2.34). Waddle finished with a 64-910-6 line in 16 starts. If he stays healthy in 2026 in his first season in Denver, Waddle will certainly have a shot to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the fourth time in his career. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 25 WR for the upcoming season.

Has Jaylen Waddle's Redraft Stock Outpaced His True Value?

After spending the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is entering his first year with the Denver Broncos in 2026. Denver sent significant draft capital to Miami to acquire Waddle, who now projects as the team's WR1. The move from Miami to Denver should provide Waddle with a significantly improved offensive environment. However, the Broncos have several wide receivers who are capable of earning targets, including Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, and Pat Bryant. Waddle spent most of 2025 as the clear WR1 in Miami, but he still finished the year as the WR29 in per-game PPR scoring. As the 23rd wide receiver off the board by average draft position in redraft leagues, Waddle may currently be slightly overvalued.

Jaylen Waddle Looking Like a Star During Spring Workouts

New Denver Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle "has looked every bit the star wide receiver this spring," according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. The Broncos gave up a first-round pick in this year's NFL draft to acquire the services of Waddle from the Miami Dolphins this offseason, and head coach Sean Payton looks ready to use him all over the field. The 27-year-old former sixth overall pick in 2021 out of the University of Alabama opened his NFL career with three straight 1,000-yard seasons while also leading the league with 18.1 yards per catch in his sophomore campaign. Waddle failed to reach the 1,000-yard mark in each of the last two years as Miami's speed-based offense hit a snag, although he did bounce back in 2025 with a 64-910-6 line in 16 starts. The Broncos already have a capable WR1 in Courtland Sutton, but the Broncos didn't give up a haul not to involve Waddle regularly, and he could thrive underneath in Payton's offense in Year 1 in Denver. Waddle is a more intriguing target for fantasy managers in PPR formats, and he should be considered a low-end WR2/high-end WR3/flex in his new digs.

Sean Payton has "Crystal Clear" Vision for Versatile Jaylen Waddle

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said there is a "crystal clear" vision for the role of new wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who can play all over, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports. Waddle had 1,000-yard seasons in his first three years in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins before falling back down to Earth a bit alongside a struggling Miami offense the last two seasons. The 27-year-old former sixth overall pick in 2021 out of the University of Alabama had a 64-910-6 line in 16 starts in 2025, though, and his fantasy stock is back on the rise after the Broncos gave up a first-round pick for him this offseason. Denver has plenty of options at the position in Courtland Sutton, Pat Bryant, Marvin Mims Jr., and Troy Franklin, but because of his ability to play all over the field with a bright offensive mind in Payton designing plays for him, Waddle could easily lead the Broncos in targets and catches in his first year in the Mile High City in 2026. Fantasy managers will want to target the sixth-year receiver as a low-end WR2 with upside this fall as he finally gets out of the shadow of Tyreek Hill.

Jaylen Waddle the Top Receiver to Roster in Denver?

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle's dynasty stock is trending up after an offseason trade that put him in a stronger offense and paired him with a more talented quarterback. Waddle was traded from the Dolphins to the Broncos, and while he will face some competition for targets from Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin, this is a much better scenario for the Alabama product and his skill set. He projects as the No. 1 receiver in an upward-trending offense led by talented quarterback Bo Nix. Waddle's upside was limited for several years in Miami due to the inconsistent play of Tua Tagovailoa, but Nix offers him a very strong chance to post more than 1,015 yards for just the second time in his career. In addition to projecting as a high-volume receiver with high yardage totals, he should remain a solid weapon around the goal line, giving him touchdown upside in fantasy football. Despite finishing as the WR24 or lower in each of his last three seasons, Waddle's trade gives him top-15 receiver upside in dynasty fantasy football leagues. He's a very intriguing buy-low target for managers this offseason.

Jaylen Waddle's Dynasty Stock Rising After Offseason Move to Denver

After spending the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle enters his first year with the Denver Broncos in 2026. Denver acquired Waddle on the back of his strong 2025 campaign with Miami, in which he hauled in 64 receptions for 910 yards and six touchdowns on 100 targets across 16 games. Waddle will face stronger target competition in Denver from wide receivers Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, and Pat Bryant. However, the Broncos should also offer a stronger overall offensive environment, and Denver quarterback Bo Nix (ankle) led the NFL in pass attempts in 2025. All in all, Waddle should be better positioned to capitalize on the final years of his prime in Denver than he was in Miami. Waddle's dynasty stock is rising as he enters his age-28 season in 2026.

Jaylen Waddle a Top Buy-Low Candidate Heading into First Season in Denver

The Denver Broncos made wide receiver Jaylen Waddle one of the offseason's biggest trade acquisitions by sending three draft picks to the Miami Dolphins for him. Waddle bounced back from a down year in 2024 with strong production in 2025, recording 64 receptions for 910 yards and six touchdowns on 100 targets across 16 games with Miami. After former Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill (knee) went down with a season-ending knee injury in Week 4, Waddle had the advantage of being the clear number one pass-catcher in Miami. He could end up playing the same role in Denver, but the Broncos have other capable pass-catchers in wide receivers Courtland Sutton, Pat Bryant, and Troy Franklin. Still, the upgrade in offensive environment from Miami to Denver should be a net positive for Waddle's fantasy production. In Waddle's last fully healthy season with an above-average offense in 2022, he recorded 1,356 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. In dynasty formats, Waddle has clear buy-low appeal ahead of his first season in Denver.

Jaylen Waddle to Play the Slot And Outside

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that new wide receiver Jaylen Waddle will play both the slot and on the outside in his first year with the team in 2026, according to Luca Evans of The Denver Post. Payton also said the Broncos will have "speed packages" for him. The Broncos acquired Waddle in a trade from the Miami Dolphins in March in exchange for three draft picks, including Denver's first-rounder next month. With the move to the Mile High City, the 27-year-old's fantasy stock should improve in a pass-happy offense under quarterback Bo Nix. Courtland Sutton will still demand plenty of targets, but Waddle may lead the Broncos in receiving in 2026, especially given Nix's strength as a short and intermediate passer over the middle. Using Waddle all over the field is even better news for his fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper formats. The Broncos didn't trade for him to not use him. The former sixth overall pick in 2021 by Miami out of Alabama began his NFL career with three straight 1,000-yard seasons. Waddle has fallen short of that mark the last two years, but if he stays healthy in Denver, he should have a great shot of totaling 1,000 receiving yards yet again.

Jaylen Waddle Restructures his Contract With Broncos

The Denver Broncos restructured wide receiver Jaylen Waddle's contract on Tuesday to convert $15.416 million of an option bonus into a signing bonus for salary cap purposes, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. Waddle's new salary is at $1.215 million. The move frees up $7.961 million in cap space for this season. The Broncos might not be done yet after making a big move recently to acquire Waddle from the Dolphins in exchange for three draft picks, including their first-rounder next month. The 27-year-old former sixth overall pick by Miami in the 2021 draft out of Alabama immediately is a boost to Denver's passing attack, and he could lead the team in targets and production in 2026 as one of quarterback Bo Nix's favorite targets over the short and middle areas of the field. Waddle produced 1,000-yard seasons in his first three years in the NFL and could get back to that mark if he stays healthy in his first year in Denver.

Broncos Acquiring Jaylen Waddle From Dolphins

The Denver Broncos are acquiring wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and a fourth-round draft pick (11th in the round) in 2026 from the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday in exchange for a first-round pick (30th overall) along with late third- and fourth-round picks (30th in each round) in this year's draft, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. It's a pretty big upgrade for quarterback Bo Nix and Denver's offense, as Waddle could end up leading the Broncos' pass-catchers in targets if he can stay healthy in 2026. It gives Nix another trusted weapon to throw to besides Courtland Sutton. The 27-year-old Waddle, who was drafted in the first round (sixth overall) in 2021 out of Alabama, started his career with three straight 1,000-yard seasons and led the NFL with 18.1 yards per catch in his sophomore season. He'll be a reliable target for Nix as the Broncos' offense looks to take the next step. It's a good landing spot for Waddle, although he'll definitely have more competition for targets than if he had stayed in Miami. His arrival in Denver is bad news for the dynasty values of both Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant.
