Jaylen Waddle News
New Miami Dolphins wide receivers coach Wes Welker compared wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to Chiefs All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill. "I think it's acceleration," Welker said. "Especially like when he gets a ball in my hand. We've got the ball in his hands, it's kind of Tyreek Hill-ish, how he's just able to get that ball and really burst out of it." Waddle set a new NFL record in his rookie season with 104 catches, and he added 1,015 yards and six touchdowns on 140 targets in 16 games. Welker coached Deebo Samuel with the San Francisco 49ers, and Waddle could have a similar role in Miami's new offense under head coach Mike McDaniel. The 23-year-old will head into his second NFL season as the team's clear No. 1 receiver, and he'll cost a pretty penny in fantasy drafts after his historic rookie season.
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle erupted on the season during his rookie year, hauling in 104 passes for 1,015 yards and six touchdowns. Now, he'll have a specifically offensive-minded head coach in Mike McDaniel, who went as far Tuesday during a radio show appearance to say of his wideout, "I would start him in fantasy." Waddle certainly will garner significant early-round attention, particularly in PRR formats. The one key reservation about his upside likely comes from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, even as the two showed a significant rapport in 2021. It remains to be seen what other pass-catching weapons are brought in to help elevate Miami's offense, but if McDaniel's early reaction are any indication, it appears that Waddle is going to be the kingpin of the group.
Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has seen double-digit targets in three straight games heading into Week 17. He's also had 90 receiving yards or more in each of those contests. That being said, the expectations were high for Sunday's matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Sadly, Waddle didn't live up to the hype during Sunday's loss. He hauled in three of his seven targets for 47 yards. Fantasy managers would have to go all the way back to Week 5 to find a game where Waddle had less than four receptions in a contest. His 47 receiving yards were the lowest total since Week 8. However, fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned about Waddle's performance. He should bounce back and be a low-end WR2 against the New England Patriots in Week 18.
