Jarrett Stidham News
Denver Broncos backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham looked to be in midseason form in the 41-0 blowout win over the Los Angeles Rams in the preseason finale on Saturday night. Stidham finished the contest going 17-for-28 for 236 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions. He was sacked once for no gain and carried the ball one time for a 20-yard gain. The Broncos rested starter Russell Wilson in this one, so Stidham got extended run and delivered. The 27-year-old also looked liked really good filling in for Derek Carr in the final two regular season games last year with the Las Vegas Raiders. Stidham is unlikely to see meaningful playing time in 2023 unless Wilson misses time with an injury. But if he does make any starts for the Broncos, he'll be in play as a QB2 in superflex leagues.
Denver Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham took over for Russell Wilson early in Saturday's preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers in an eventual 21-20 loss on the road. Stidham finished the team's second preseason game 12-for-17 passing for 130 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. He was sacked twice for a loss of 10 yards. The 27-year-old was signed to a two-year, $10 million contract in the offseason to serve as Wilson's backup for the 2023 season. Stidham started the final two games in 2022 for the Las Vegas Raiders when they benched Derek Carr, and he looked solid, going 45-for-70 for 584 yards, four TDs and three picks. Stidham would only have low-end QB2 value in superflex leagues if he ends up starting games due to an injury to Wilson this year.
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton thinks quarterback Jarrett Stidham was an "important signing" and believes he could one day become a starting QB in the NFL. The Broncos signed him to a two-year, $10 million deal in free agency to back up Russell Wilson in 2023. Wilson struggled mightily in his first year with Denver in 2022, but the team did not bring Stidham in to put pressure on him for the starting job. The 26-year-old former fourth-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2019 has played in 13 games (two starts) in his three NFL seasons, throwing for 926 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions. In five games (two starts) with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022, Stidham threw for 656 yards, four TDs and three interceptions.
