Mike McGlinchey Practices On Tuesday

Denver Broncos right guard Mike McGlinchey (knee) has been designated to return from Injured Reserve on Tuesday. McGlinchey was able to get back on the field for the first time since suffering a sprained MCL during Week 2. He was limited during Tuesday's walkthrough, so his availability for Thursday's game against the New Orleans Saints remains uncertain. The Broncos would certainly love to have the former first-round pick back this week, but that might be too early for McGlinchey. The organization has a 21-day window to activate McGlinchey to the 53-man roster. Alex Palczewski figures to start in his place if McGlinchey is unable to play on Thursday.

Mike McGlinchey Out 2-3 Weeks With Knee Sprain

Denver Broncos offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey (knee) suffered a knee sprain in Tuesday's training camp practice and will miss two to three weeks. The injury could keep McGlinchey out for the entire preseason after he signed a big five-year, $85 million deal this offseason. McGlinchey still has time to be ready for the regular season opener in Week 1 against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders, but he's going to miss important repetitions with the starting offensive line in the preseason and for the rest of camp. When healthy, the 28-year-old will be Denver's starting right tackle for the foreseeable future.

Broncos Give Mike McGlinchey A Five-Year Deal

The Denver Broncos agreed with free-agent right tackle Mike McGlinchey on a massive five-year deal worth $87.5 million on Monday, according to a source. The deal includes over $50 million guaranteed. The Broncos ponied up and paid McGlinchey and offensive guard Ben Powers in order to improve their offensive line on the first day of free agency on Monday. The 28-year-old McGlinchey was the ninth overall pick in the 2018 draft by the San Francisco 49ers, and he spent the last five years in San Francisco. He's known as more of a run blocker and his addition should make life easier on Denver's ground game and quarterback Russell Wilson.

Mike McGlinchey Hopeful To Stay With 49ers

San Francisco 49ers right tackle Mike McGlinchey is hopeful to re-sign with the organization this offseason. The former first rounder has spent his first five seasons of his career with the 49ers. That being said, McGlinchey is a soon-to-be-free agent, which means he's preparing for a big payday. McGlinchey is well worth the money as he has been a staple on this offensive line. The 49ers would have a significant void to fill if they aren't able to keep McGlinchey around this offseason. Although, McGlinchey sounds willing to return to San Francisco and they should have enough money to keep him around long term.

Mike McGlinchey Expects To Be Ready For Training Camp

San Francisco 49ers right tackle Mike McGlinchey (quadriceps), who tore his quadriceps last November, said he expects to be able to participate in training camp this summer. McGlinchey suffered the injury in Week 9 and missed the rest of the season. The 27-year-old is sitting out of the voluntary offseason program right now, but he has plenty of time to build up his strength and conditioning before training camp starts at the end of July. He played in only eight games last year, but McGlinchey has played in two full seasons in his four years in the league. He was originally a first-round pick (ninth overall) by the Niners in 2018 out of Notre Dame.

Mike McGlinchey Done For The Season With A Torn Quad

San Francisco 49ers right tackle Mike McGlinchey (quadriceps) will miss the rest of the season after tearing his quadriceps muscle in the Week 9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, according to a source. Backup tackle Tom Compton filled in for McGlinchey on Sunday and finished the game, but he wasn't good. McGlinchey had started all eight games for the team this year and had played 100% of the offensive snaps, so this is a significant loss for the Niners offensive line. The fourth-year player allowed two sacks, 13 pressures and 12 hurries this year and ranked 16th in pass-blocking efficiency, according to Pro Football Focus. San Fran could choose to try rookie Jaylon Moore, their backup left tackle, or they could decide to slide Daniel Brunskill to right tackle with McGlinchey done for the season. It's bad news for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's pass protection moving forward.

Mike McGlinchey Done For Rest Of Week 9

San Francisco 49ers tackle Mike McGlinchey (knee) won't return to Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals. The 26-year-old injured his knee during the second quarter of the contest and was initially labeled as questionable before being subsequently ruled out. This is not good news, especially since the 49ers have struggled to stay afloat against an Arizona team without Kyler Murray (ankle) and DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring). Nonetheless, McGlinchey, who's allowed only two sacks all year, will likely remain on the injury report ahead of the Monday Night Football showdown against the Los Angeles Rams. Tom Compton, who's struggled already since taking over, will likely continue to start until McGlinchey can make it back to the field.

49ers Take Mike McGlinchey Ninth Overall

The San Francisco 49ers selected Notre Dame offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey ninth overall in the 2018 NFL draft. He's best at right tackle and could benefit from getting stronger as he moves to the next level. With this pick, it's obvious the Niners are prioritizing their offensive line as they look to protect their franchise quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo. McGlinchey will help do that.
