Mike McGlinchey News
Denver Broncos offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey (knee) suffered a knee sprain in Tuesday's training camp practice and will miss two to three weeks. The injury could keep McGlinchey out for the entire preseason after he signed a big five-year, $85 million deal this offseason. McGlinchey still has time to be ready for the regular season opener in Week 1 against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders, but he's going to miss important repetitions with the starting offensive line in the preseason and for the rest of camp. When healthy, the 28-year-old will be Denver's starting right tackle for the foreseeable future.
The Denver Broncos agreed with free-agent right tackle Mike McGlinchey on a massive five-year deal worth $87.5 million on Monday, according to a source. The deal includes over $50 million guaranteed. The Broncos ponied up and paid McGlinchey and offensive guard Ben Powers in order to improve their offensive line on the first day of free agency on Monday. The 28-year-old McGlinchey was the ninth overall pick in the 2018 draft by the San Francisco 49ers, and he spent the last five years in San Francisco. He's known as more of a run blocker and his addition should make life easier on Denver's ground game and quarterback Russell Wilson.
San Francisco 49ers right tackle Mike McGlinchey is hopeful to re-sign with the organization this offseason. The former first rounder has spent his first five seasons of his career with the 49ers. That being said, McGlinchey is a soon-to-be-free agent, which means he's preparing for a big payday. McGlinchey is well worth the money as he has been a staple on this offensive line. The 49ers would have a significant void to fill if they aren't able to keep McGlinchey around this offseason. Although, McGlinchey sounds willing to return to San Francisco and they should have enough money to keep him around long term.
