Lil'Jordan Humphrey Should Be Avoided By Fantasy Managers in Week 8

New York Giants wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey has appeared in two games this season, recording four catches for 55 yards on 10 targets. All four of his catches and eight of his targets came in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Humphrey and the Giants will face Philadelphia for the second time in three weeks in Week 8. However, New York will have wide receiver Darius Slayton back on the field after Slayton missed Week 6 due to a hamstring injury. Slayton's return to the lineup appears likely to relegate Humphrey to a minimal role in the Giants' offense. Humphrey does not project to provide fantasy-relevant production in Week 8 and should be avoided by fantasy managers.

Lil'Jordan Humphrey's Reunion With Broncos is a Fantasy Trap

New York Giants wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey is a desperate dart throw for Week 7, despite a solid performance in his Giants debut due to a brutal defensive matchup against his former team. Elevated from the practice squad last week, Humphrey immediately saw a surprising eight targets, turning them into four receptions for 55 yards, which resulted in 7.5 fantasy points and included a crucial 34-yard reception. However, the Broncos' defense is a top-two unit against the wide receiver position, ranking 2nd in the NFL by allowing an average of only 18.9 fantasy points per game to the position. Furthermore, the Broncos' pass defense is one of the league's best, allowing a mere 165.2 passing yards per game, and their overall points-against average of 15.8 points further limits the Giants' offensive ceiling and Humphrey's chances for a repeat performance.

Lil'Jordan Humphrey Drawing Increased Attention

After a season-best performance last week, New York Giants wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey has quickly risen as a name to watch in deeper leagues with fellow receiver Malik Nabers (knee) out for the year. The former Texas standout saw a 17% increase in roster pickups in Sleeper dynasty formats, making him one of the most popular adds of the week. Humphrey was playing mostly because an injury to Darius Slayton (hamstring) further thinned out the Giants' receiver room, making Humphrey's role a bit of a wild card in future weeks. The veteran wideout has only surpassed 20 catches in a season once in his previous six years, topping out at 31 with Denver last year, so managers should likely temper expectations for him, especially against a tough Denver defense this week.

Lil'Jordan Humphrey in Line for Increased Playing Time Going Forward?

New York Giants wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey made his 2025 season debut in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles, recording four catches for 55 yards on eight targets. With the Giants missing wideouts Malik Nabers (knee) and Darius Slayton (hamstring), Humphrey stepped up and led the team in targets. Nabers is out for the season, and Slayton's status for Week 7 is unclear, so Humphrey could be set up for another game where he plays a prominent role in the team's passing game. Still, the Giants have a very difficult matchup in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos, which limits Humphrey's waiver-wire appeal. He's a name to monitor on the waiver wire, but Humphrey could also fade back to fantasy irrelevance as soon as Slayton returns to the lineup.

Giants Releasing Lil'Jordan Humphrey

The New York Giants are releasing wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Humphrey will hit the open market despite going for six catches, 94 yard and a touchdown on eight targets during preseason action. The 27-year-old had career-highs in catches (31), targets (45) and receiving yards (293) while scoring one touchdown in 17 games (seven starts) in 2024 with the Denver Broncos. Humphrey originally went undrafted out of Texas before joining the New Orleans Saints and making his NFL debut in 2019. He has only 62 catches on 92 targets for 770 yards and seven touchdowns in 58 games (23 starts) in his six years in the NFL. It's possible that Humphrey could join New York's practice squad this year if he doesn't get scooped up by another organization looking for receiver depth.

Giants Cut Lil'Jordan Humphrey

The New York Giants released wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey on Friday, a source told The Athletic's Dan Duggan. Humphrey will head right back to the free-agent market after signing with the G-Men in late March. Humphrey posted career-highs in catches (31), targets (45) and receiving yards (293) while catching one touchdown pass in 17 regular-season games (seven starts) in his second year with the Denver Broncos in 2024. The 27-year-old was set to serve as wideout depth in the Big Apple this year, but he has lost his roster spot after the Giant recently signed five undrafted rookie free-agent wideouts. Humphrey should latch on with another team as receiver depth. In six NFL seasons, Humphrey has produced only 62 receptions for 770 yards and seven touchdowns on 92 targets over 58 games played (23 starts).

Giants Sign Big Wideout Lil'Jordan Humphrey To One-Year Deal

The New York Giants are signing former Denver Broncos wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey to an undisclosed one-year deal on Friday, a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter. Humphrey joins a Giants team after spending the last two seasons in Denver, catching 44 total passes on 64 targets for 455 yards and four touchdowns. He was much more involved last year and set career-highs in receptions (31), targets (45) and receiving yards (293) while scoring once in 17 regular-season games (seven starts). The 26-year-old's best asset is his size (6-foot-4, 225 pounds), but he's unlikely to be much more than the team's No. 4 pass-catcher behind Malik Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton. The only quarterback currently on New York's roster is Tommy DeVito, too. However, the addition of a big downfield threat like Humphrey could mean the G-Men are getting close to adding veteran QB Russell Wilson.

Lil'Jordan Humphrey Shouldn't Be In Starting Fantasy Lineups On Monday Night

Denver Broncos wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey is second on the team this year in targets behind Courtland Sutton, but he cannot be trusted in starting fantasy lineups for the Monday night matchup in Week 13 against the Cleveland Browns. The matchup is a good one for fantasy purposes, with the Browns allowing the seventh-most half-PPR points per game to the position, but Humphrey could see even more competition for targets if Josh Reynolds (hand) returns from Injured Reserve. In addition, rookie Devaughn Vele has been more involved of late and has essentially become rookie QB Bo Nix's No. 2 target behind Sutton. The best fantasy managers can hope for with Humphrey is that he uses his after-the-catch skills to break a big play. Humphrey has scored only once in 2024, has gone over five catches in a game only once and has 50-plus yards only twice in 12 games.

Lil'Jordan Humphrey Looking For Another Strong Game Against Raiders

Denver Broncos wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey had his best game of 2024 in the Week 11 blowout win over the Atlanta Falcons, catching all four of his targets for a season-high 52 yards and his first touchdown of the year. Humphrey will be looking for a second straight strong game this Sunday against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders and their beat-up secondary. The 26-year-old played only 44% of the offensive snaps last week, though, and faces plenty of competition for targets alongside Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr. and rookies Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin. Rookie QB Bo Nix has been spreading the ball around all year to wideouts not named Sutton, too, making it mostly a crapshoot for which receiver might have the best game behind Sutton. Fantasy managers playing him as a WR5/flex in deep leagues are merely hoping for a couple big plays and potentially another TD.

Lil'Jordan Humphrey Finds End Zone For First Time In 2024

Denver Broncos wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey joined the party in the Week 11 win over the visiting Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, catching all four of his targets on the day for a season-high 52 receiving yards and his first touchdown of the year in the 38-6 laugher. It was a nice bounce-back performance after Humphrey had only two catches for 23 yards in the Week 10 loss to the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs. Humphrey brings impressive after-the-catch abilities, so it was no surprise his touchdown catch came on a 41-yard reception to put the Falcons away late. He has seen additional opportunities in an improving Broncos passing attack since Josh Reynolds (finger) went on Injured Reserve, but Reynolds could be returning soon. At best, Humphrey will be a dart-throw WR5/flex in Week 12 when the team travels to take on the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders.
